Greater Manchester, New Hampshire Health Improvement Plan 2016 with support from the City of Manchester Health Department and the Greater Manchester Public Health Network WORKING TO IMPROVE THE HEALTH AND WELL-BEING OF THE GREATER MANCHESTER REGION EXECUTIVE SUMMARY The City of Manchester Health Department and the Greater Manchester Public Health Network are pleased to present the first Health Improvement Plan for the Greater Manchester Public Health Region. Our collective vision is to transform public health in our region to an integrated system capable of seamless collaborations among all healthcare providers and public safety personnel with constructive engagement of patients, families, and communities. Through this integrated system, all people will have equitable access to timely, comprehensive, cost-effective, high-quality, and compassionate care. Public health is the practice of preventing disease and promoting good health within groups of people-- from small communities to entire countries. Public Health is YOUR health. It embodies everything from clean air to safe food and water, access to healthcare and safer communities. Through public health planning and prevention initiatives, the public gets sick less frequently, children grow to become healthy adults through adequate resources including health care, and our community reduces the impact of disasters by preparing people for the effects of catastrophes such as hurricanes, floods and terrorism. In preparing this Plan, the Public Health Network and its workgroups have reviewed needs assessments, utilizing data from many different sources such as community focus groups, key stakeholder interviews, and surveys. Building on this information, needs have been prioritized and work plans have been developed. This Health Improvement Plan identifies needs, goals, measurable objectives, and strategies to help us as we work together on solutions to important issues facing our community. -

Executive Summary A summary of the findings detailed in this document Executive Summary Introduction Healthwatch England is the national consumer champion in health and care, with significant statutory powers to ensure the voice of the consumer is strengthened and heard by those who commission, deliver and regulate health and care services. The nationally-focused Healthwatch England works with 152 community-focused local Healthwatch to ensure consumers’ views are represented at both levels. This project aimed to involve local Healthwatch in Greater Manchester in collecting the public’s views on how they would like to receive services in the future and share this with the network. Greater Manchester was chosen as the first area of devolution for health and social care services. Local Healthwatch staff were involved throughout the process, to learn about deliberative engagement by taking part in the planning and facilitation of a series of deliberative events with members of the Greater Manchester population. CURRICULUM VITAE for Alison Welsh Alison Welsh is Head of Fashion Research at Manchester Metropolitan University, and is based within the Manchester Fashion Institute. She graduated in Fashion Design at Newcastle Polytechnic in 1981 and went on to work as a Menswear designer in London for 10 years. She was a Trend Forecaster and a MeMber of the British Textile Colour Group. Alison headed up the award-winning BA (Hons) Fashion course within the Manchester School of Art for twenty years. In addition, she has been a trustee of Graduate Fashion Week since 2004. As a practicing designer, she has a special interest in slow fashion, ethical practices, the hand-made and methods of valuing the work of those involved within garment production. Her fashion work explores the introduction of high value for conteMporary craft within garMent design, and environmentally friendly textiles, through collaborative projects, such as The Thai Lue Project, Field to Fashion exhibited in New Delhi and Hand Made, which was exhibited in Tokyo. Joanna Weddell University of Brighton with the Victoria and Albert Museum AHRC Part-time Collaborative Doctoral Award AH/I021450/1 3 BLANK 4 Thesis Abstract This thesis establishes the post-war regional impact of the Victoria and Albert Museum’s Circulation Department (Circ) which sent touring exhibitions to museums and art schools around the UK in the period 1947-1977, an area previously unexplored to any substantial depth. A simplistic stereotypical dyad of metropolitan authority and provincial deference is examined and evidence given for a more complex flow between Museum and regions. The Introduction outlines the thesis aims and the Department’s role in the dissemination of art and design. The thesis is structured around questions examining the historical significance of Circ, the display and installation of Circ’s regional exhibitions, and the flow of influence between regions and museum. Context establishes Circ not as a straightforward continuation of Cole’s Victorian mission but as historically embedded in the post-war period. -

Reducing Women’s Imprisonment Factsheet: Greater Manchester1 • 251 immediate prison sentences were given to women in Greater Manchester in 2019, an increase from 217 in 2018 but a 46% decrease since 2009. These were mostly for non-violent offences and 49% were for less than six months. • 27% of the prison sentences were for theft offences. • The use of community sentences for women in Greater Manchester has decreased by 58% since 2009. Manchester Metropolitan University Manchester Metropolitan University (often abbreviated MMU) is a public university located in Manchester, England. The university traces Manchester Metropolitan its origins to the Manchester Mechanics Institute and the Manchester University School of Design, which formed Manchester Polytechnic in 1970. Manchester Polytechnic then gained university status under the government's Further and Higher Education Act, becoming the Manchester Metropolitan University in 1992. Today, it is headquartered in the city of Manchester. Former name Manchester Manchester Metropolitan University is an accredited member of the Polytechnic Association of MBAs, and member of the University Alliance, the Association of Commonwealth Universities, the North West Type Public Universities Association, Association to Advance Collegiate Schools Established 1824 - of Business and the European University Association. Manchester Mechanics' Today, it is also home to the Manchester School of Art, the Institution Manchester School of Theatre, as well as the Manchester School of 1838 - Architecture (MSA) administered in collaboration with the University of Manchester.
