W e s t B a n k a d r o The total area located between the Barrier J and the Green Line is 9.8 % of the West Bank, Qalqilya including East Jerusalem and No Man's Land. Qedumim Finger When completed, approximately 13 % of the Barrier will be constructed on the Green Line or in Israel with 87 % inside the West Bank. Biddya Area Populations Affected Ari’el Finger If the Barrier is completed based on the current route: Az Zawiya Enclave Approximately 35,000 Palestinians holding West Bank ID cards in 35 communities will be located between the Barrier and the Green Line. The majority of the approximately 250,000 Kafr Aqab Palestinians with East Jerusalem ID cards Bir Nabala Enclave will reside between the Barrier and Biddu Area the Green Line. However, Palestinian Shu'fat Camp No Man's Land communities inside the current municipal boundary, Kafr Aqab and Shu'fat Camp, Ma’ale are separated from East Jerusalem by the Green Line Adumim Barrier. Settlement Jerusalem Bloc Approximately 125,000 Palestinians will be surrounded by the Barrier on three sides. These comprise 28 communities; the Biddya ISRAEL and Biddu areas, and the city of Qalqilya. Gush Etzion Approximately 26,000 Palestinians in 8 Settlement communities in the Az Zawiya and Bir Nabala Bloc Enclaves will be surrounded on four sides a by the Barrier, with a tunnel or road e connection to the rest of the West Bank. (Safa 5 February 2013) • A Palestinian youth was moderately injured after being hit by an Israeli military jeep in Zatara village in the eastern of Bethlehem city. The young man, identified as Khalifah Mohammad Mahameed (23 years), suffered several fractures and bruises to various parts of his body. (IMEMC 5 February 2013). • The Israeli Construction and Housing Ministry issued a tender for the construction of 41 housing units and a Shopping Mall in Efrat settlement in Gush Etzion settlement bloc in the southern of Bethlehem city. (Ynetnews 5 February 2013) • The Israeli Occupation Army (IOA) stormed a number of Palestinian houses in Al Azza refugee camp in the northern of Bethlehem city. The targeted houses are owned by: Hassan Ali Qaraqi, Abd Al‐Aziz Kamal Da’jnah, and Noh Ibrahim Da’rh. (Wafa 7 February 2013) • The Israeli occupation Bulldozers demolished an under construction house (150 meters square) in Al Khas village in the eastern of Bethlehem city, under the claim that the house was built without a license.

Questa settimana le FIO hanno ferito sei civili palestinesi, compreso un minore, con uso eccessivo della forza durante incursioni in città palestinesi e la repressione di proteste pacifiche in Cisgiordania. Le FIO hanno anche continuato la loro politica di demolizione e distruzione di case e strutture palestinesi per i loro programmi di espansione delle colonie.     1 Message from the Editor These days, few issues carry as much relevance in our lives as the ongoing pandemic, while self-interest and calculation, rather than compassion or even the acknowledgment of responsibility, tend to guide vaccine distribution. The situation in Gaza is dire. The UN Food and Agriculture Organization warns that acute hunger may affect 20 countries, including not only Yemen but also Lebanon and Syria. Still, we tend to neglect the fact that our daily habits cause the destruction of nature, creating the conditions that facilitate the emergence and spread of viruses in the first place. Only 4 percent of mammals on earth are wild animals, 36 percent are humans, and 60 percent are domestic animals that we raise mainly for some form of consumption!* This month’s issue highlights the beauty of Palestine’s environment and draws attention to challenges that Palestine must tackle to preserve this treasure and protect the country’s flora and fauna. The operation concentrated on the old city of Nablus to arrest eight allegedly wanted Palestinians. During the operation the IDF imposed a curfew on the old city, 3,000 families under curfew, arrested/detained 41 Palestinians during house-to-house searches. One Palestinian man was killed and eight injured. West Bank: − Twenty eight Palestinian structures, mostly livelihood structures, were demolished by the throughout the West Bank this week, affecting the lives of 182 Palestinians including 83 children. − A group of Israeli settlers from the settlement of Beit Hadassa, located in the H2 section of Hebron city attacked a Palestinian house located across from the settlement late at night destroying the front door, some water pipes as well as furniture. Settlers also uprooted 30 olive trees belonging to Palestinians in Hebron. − Israeli Security Forces were on high alert in and around the Old city of Jerusalem in anticipation of further demonstrations and clashes after the Friday Prayers in Al Aqsa mosque. All major roads leading to the old city were blocked, access to the old city of Jerusalem was limited for those who live in the old city; and Israeli ID holders over 50 years old.
