e are now in the heart of the season. The boats were blessed at the W Annual Blessing of the Fleet and the boaters are taking advantage of the summer weather. If you come down on Thursday nights, you can look out and see all of the sailing activity. During the days you will see the junior sailors learning the skills that will enable them to enjoy sailing throughout
their lives. MYC will be hosting the annual Optisail Regatta on July 26, 2016. Also, many adults are learning to sail through the Summer O’ Sailing pro- gram. It is all very exciting for the Club. As a reminder, the Clubhouse is now open from Wednesday through Sunday.
Please check for hours. Take advantage of the summer weather, the deck
and the restaurant and enjoy your Club. Continue to look for happy hour on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. There are many events scheduled for July. Saturday July 1, 2017 will be in- credibly busy at the Club. There is a large wedding scheduled and the City fireworks are planned. Please plan accordingly if you are coming down that night. Musical entertainment by Dyna Mojo will be on the deck July 2nd and Parrot Beach will again be headlining Jimmy Buffett Night on July 22nd. Be sure to make your reservations as they are very popular events. As a reminder, please be sure to adhere to the guest policies at the Club. All guests must be with a member and appropriately signed into the guest book. We have many new wait staff at the Club. Please make it easier on them by showing your membership card or identifying yourself as the member. By adhering to the rules, we enhance everyone’s experience at the Club.

23rd Annual Milford Yacht Club OptiSail Regatta, Wednesday, July 26th
MYC membership has always stepped forward to help make this one of the most successful and fun regattas in the Junior Sailing Association of Long Is- land Sound (JSA-LIS). It is a great day, and you can volunteer as little or as much as you can find the time. Whether you help sailors park and off-load boats for a couple hours in the morning, or deliver sandwiches at lunch time on the water (unique for MYC), it is a rewarding event.
With over 130, 8 to 15-year old, young sailors from clubs across Long Island Sound, it is a spectacular event and volunteering for this regatta is a great way to promote junior sailors and gain future crew. Don’t miss out! Contact Fleet Captain Doug Jones at [email protected] 3

Off The Docks and On The Grounds Capt. Wm. Kidd and Capt. Jack Sparrow Attack Milford Yacht Club
June 11, 2017 - While the Club slept after the Commodore’s Cocktail Reception, a marauding band of pirates, led by outlaw mariners Kidd and Sparrow, slipped into Milford Harbor aboard the Black Pearl, sometimes known in these waters as the all powerful and mighty Oz, with the dread pirate Graybeard at the helm. The fearsome Lazy Jack Sbabo was also seen aboard the Pearl, concocting a menacing soundtrack to accompany the attack. The scoundrels fired on the Club and exchanged volleys with passing vessels before disembarking at the head of the har- bor. The chilling video can be seen below. Sparrow captured longtime MYC members Les and Audrey Baston, detaining them long enough for a photo op before releasing them unscathed.

The Milford Yacht Club Anglers There’s always something fishy going on at the Club. MYC members Jim Stacy, Jimmy Stacy, Zac Babbitz and Josh Paton caught some mighty big fish (35 lbs.+) within a mile of the Club in June. Interested in fishing? Call the MYC Angler’s Hotline 203-444-6645.
Uh Oh, Here Comes Nevo! Past Commodore John Nevin will be conducting random burgee inspections in the marina and parking lot during the month of July. Article VI, Section B, Subpar- agraph 5(c) of the MYC Burgee Handbook, states in part, “all burgees must be properly displayed with the tip of the star pointing toward the heavens”. Nevin railed that the problem of upside down burgees is “rampant and approaching epi- demic proportions” and “is one of the biggest challenges facing the Club today”. Members are reminded to check their burgees for proper installation or potentially face a fine and a public flogging.
