Congratulations to all OCC paddlers on an outstanding 2008 regatta and long distance season! With the 6-man canoe season winding down, it's time to switch our attention to training and preparing for the upcoming one-man canoe and kayak season. The Outrigger Canoe and Kayak Committee would like to encourage as much participation as possible in the 2009 OC-1/Kayak season by implementing a revised reimbursement program for racing expenses. OCC paddlers will be eligi ble for reimbursement of entry fees only if they meet the following criteria: • Enter a minimum of five races, with one of the five races being either the Molokai Relay, the Relay, the Solo Molokai, or the solo Maui to Molokai race; • Wear an Outrigger Canoe Club jersey while competing in each race; • Present the committee with individual results of the five races (short or long course) from the respective OC 1 /Kayak Race season by June 1, 2009. Race results can be printed from the internet or photocopied from the newspaper; • Reimbursement will be based on available funds in the committee's budget, split evenly among all approved OCC members requesting reimbursement, not to exceed the total cost of entry fees. The committee felt these revised rules would lead to greater participation in the OC 1/Kayak Racing season and in the channel races, leading to better results in both the regatta and distance season, and eventually more paddlers pad dling at Outrigger. If you have any questions, feel free to call Evan Rhodes at 381-4887. Also please don't forget to apply for a Watercraft Locker by November 30 at 5 p.m., whether you are on the wait list or currently have a locker. Information has been posted in the locker rooms and tunnel and Application/Agreements are available on the Club's website and at the Lobby Front Desk of the Club.
