Dès les premières étincelles festival Fall for Dance North à Toronto. For who we are in the dark I have worked from text as a source for movement invention. The words of Rainer Maria Rilke, Sylvia Plath, Jeanette Winterson, Jean Genet, Pablo Neruda, Mary Oliver, Henri Michaux, as well as my friend, Toronto poet and translator, Roger Greenwald, and even the horror writer Dean Koontz, are deeply seeded in the choreography. The dancers’ collaboration in creating the movement language has been absolutely vital. An intense period of initial movement exploration was undertaken with Kate Holden, Sarah Fregeau and David Norsworthy, and their artistry permeates the choreography. Every dancer who has been in the studio during creation has left their imprint: Sahara Morimoto, Mairi Greig, Jarrett Siddall, Benjamin Kamino, and Naishi Wang, as well as – very early on – Ric Brown and Corrado Cerruto. I’ve known the work of John Heward since the 1980s and the idea of incorporating a group of his paintings hit me like a thunderbolt. John worked primarily with black paint on unstretched, repurposed rayon or canvas. Manhandled – torn and gouged with clamps – his works carry a physical history. This is the first time John’s images have been seen on a stage, and I take the trust he has put in me fully to heart. Vocalographer Fides Krucker, projection designer Jeremy Mimnagh, and costumer Robyn Macdonald have made crucial contributions to the aural and visual richness of this work, and lighting designer, Marc Parent – my primary collaborator since 1990 – has worked closely with me on every element of scenic design.

  • The Kanpe Foundation's Manifesto
THE KANPE FOUNDATION’S MANIFESTO - ON THE EVE OF THE 10TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE EARTHQUAKE IN HAITI. January 8th, 2020 (MONTREAL): Every January 12th, for the past 9 years, critiques of the mismanagement of funds allocated to earthquake relief reappear in the news cycle. The Haitian government, NGOs and international actors have been singled out for their inability to efficiently collaborate in crisis management, relocation of displaced citizens or reconstruction of devastated areas. As an organization aiming to help the less fortunate, KANPE has chosen - since its inception - to look beyond specific failures or crises and focus instead on potential successes, by supporting rural communities and accompanying them on their journey towards autonomy. While we recognize the numerous challenges that Haitians still face, we also bear witness to many success stories that go unreported in the media. These significant results are often submerged in unfairly critical coverage of Haiti, as the international community can have a tendency to ignore the country’s rich culture and history. We have made it our priority to share these achievements. And, to celebrate Haiti’s culture while also highlighting the country’s strengths and wealth. The last decade reminded us of the will, courage and determination of Haitians. At KANPE, we work with Haitian communities, partners and experts along with Canadian and American collaborators and donors who, like us, do not give up on seeking out and implementing solutions, despite the crises and injustices affecting the country. Ann vanse! Signatories Dominique Anglade and Régine Chassagne, co-founders of KANPE along with current and former members of its Board of Trustees with friends and collaborators from Canada, the United States and Haiti.

Von Coe hat Henry Cow die schöne Beschreibung "The Yardbirds getting into bed with Ligeti, then driving through the ruins of a divided Berlin" verpasst bekommen.

It presents the analysis of narrative accounts of lay people who were active on the Czech housing market during or after the Crises. Theoretically rooted in the in the framework of narrative analysis, the text widens the mainstream economical perceptions of Crises bringing the concepts of emotions, ethos and symbolic boundaries into account. On the behalf of the narratives of Crises, the narratives of the process of social construction of home proved to be significant for the narrator's identity construction and presentation. Text presents three main findings a) Crises is trope, which is used as such in the narratives b) moral evaluation, which might be coined as the bourgeois morality ethos prove their significance in the narratives c) housing choices being based both on „rational“ and „irrational“ factors i. e. emotions, moral evaluations. The main interpretation of the narrative accounts suggests the crucial importance of the narratives of social construction of home for the expression of being independent, capable, responsible and thus successful person.

NATIONAL DANCE PROJECT august 2015 the new england foundation for the arts (nefa) launched the national dance Project (NDP) in 1996 to support the creation and touring of new dance works throughout the United States. NDP has distributed more than $28 million in funding to enhance partnerships between artists and presenters and engage and expand audiences for dance. To date, NDP has supported the creation of over 350 new choreographic works that have toured to all 50 states, Washington, DC, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, reaching over 3.6 2 million audience members. Alongside grantmaking for creation and touring, NDP works through specific initiatives to 3 develop a strong infrastructure for dance. Currently these focus on production residencies that prepare work for tour, international exchange, a network of contemporary art centers 4 working at the intersection of performing and visual arts, and professional development for dance artists and presenters in regions across the United States through the Regional 5 Dance Development Initiative. NDP is approaching its 20th anniversary. This provides a timely opportunity to both 6 reflect on the program’s impact and to consider how NDP can best support artistic and presentation practices in the years to come. Over the next year, we are working with 7 Metris Arts Consulting and RMC Research to evaluate the comprehensive impact of NDP on the dance landscape in the United States. 8 This publication features 18 new projects awarded Production Grants in 2015 to support creation and touring over the next three years; one-third of these artists are receiving 9 NDP support for the first time.
