PRAYER OF THE DAY Dear Father in heaven, as a faithful gardener carefully prunes the vines, bushes and trees entrusted to his care, so send Your Spirit to us to remove all that would hinder our journey of faith. Enable us, by that same Spirit, to produce the fruit which gives testimony to Your presence in our lives. Through Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for- ever. Amen.

3 Prayer of the Church

Let us pray for the whole people of God in Christ Jesus and for all people according to their needs.

Almighty Father, through Your Holy Spirit bring those who do not know You to repentance and faith. Grant all pastors, church work- ers and missionaries the skill, patience, and courage to teach the Scriptures as Philip did for the . Strengthen this and every congregation, that all Your children may be kept stead- fast in faith and love. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer.

Preserve our nation in peace through those You have placed in au- thority. Give them wisdom and courage to lead according to Your will. Protect us from all those who hate us. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer.

According to Your gracious will, grant healing to those who are sick, or give them strength to bear their infirmities with patience and grace. Comfort those who suffer from depression, disability, or loneliness, reminding them that they are never alone in Christ Jesus. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer.

We remember with thanksgiving those who have loved and served You in Your Church on earth, and who now rest from their labors. Keep us in fellowship with all Your saints, and bring us at last to the joys of Your heavenly kingdom. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer.

All these things and whatever else You know that we need, grant us, Father, for the sake of Him who died and rose again and now lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

4 WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY We finished the books of 1 and 2 Kings last week and it left some of us wondering about “the rest of the story” as Paul Harvey would say. What happened after the Jews were taken to Babylon? How did they end up coming back? So on Thursday, May 13, we will have one final study where we’ll look at some of the wonderful, hopeful and encour- aging prophecies spoken to God’s people in exile and briefly go over the history of the Jewish people after they are taken away to exile. This study does not require having been to the previous ones, so you can always feel free to jump in!

If you need the Zoom link to join in on this study, please contact Amy Hillenbrand at 262-512-1067 or [email protected].

LUNCH BAG LUNCHES Attention lunch bag friends! We will begin meeting at church for lunch again starting Tuesday, June 15 at 11:30 AM! Bring a lunch and drink to enjoy outside with other women of BSLC. Chairs will be made available, but you can bring your own if you prefer. Registration is not required, so simply come and join us. We would love to see you! Please contact Carol Wawrzyn if you have any questions at 414-354- 4785.

RUMMAGE SALE The Rummage Sale Committee has scheduled a rummage sale for Sat- urday, June 5 from 7:30 AM - 1:00 PM. Masks will be required and social distancing practiced. Weather permitting, clothing tables and racks will be outside. Starting Saturday, May 15, people can bring their donations to church and place them on the pews on the east wall of the fellowship hall. No TV’s please!

HELP NEEDED Individuals wishing to volunteer their time to help with the rummage sale may sign up by using the sign up sheets in the entryway or by us- ing an online form that will be created and sent out soon in one of Pas- tor’s weekly emails. We need many strong helpers after church on Sunday, May 30 to set up tables and bring rummage items in from the garage and again on Saturday, June 5 at 1:00 pm to pack up and get the church back in order. Please contact Carol Wawrzyn if you have any questions at 414-354-4785. 5 MISSION OF THE MONTH THANKS Thank you to all who contributed to last month’s mission. $1,583 was collected and will go towards the mission work of Rev. Dr. Daniel Jastram and Dr. Joan Jastram as they continue to serve in Asia.

MISSION OF THE MONTH This month’s mission is Advocates of Ozaukee, which is the domestic and sexual violence agency in Ozaukee County. Advocates of Ozaukee provides emergency shelter, crisis phone counseling, restraining order assistance, medical advocacy, ongoing support groups and individual counseling to adults and children. They work with over 225 adults and children of sexual violence each year and also provide a wide range of preventions and training services to schools, churches and community groups.

The Beautiful Savior Service Club will be adding a hands-on element to our mission by putting together “welcome home baskets” which can help individuals transition back to independent living following a tem- porary stay with Advocates. Find out how you can help by turning to the back cover of your bulletin.

If you would like to make a monetary donation to specifically help cover the cost of the items that will be included in the welcome home baskets, please designate your contribution to the “BSLC Service Club”.

BULLETIN NUMBERS The amount for last week’s “with donor restrictions” amount is nega- tive because some money previously in restricted funds was released to pay relevant expenses. That action transfers the money from the second line to the first.

Contributions from Budget Year-to-Date last week per Week Over (Under) Budget Without Donor Restrictions $11,531 $7,308 $4,834 With Donor Restrictions ($3,659) $1,209 ($10,383) Total $7,871 $8,516 ($5,550)

The Beautiful Savior Service Club is putting together "welcome home baskets" for Advocates of Ozaukee and we need your help! You can help by purchasing some or all of the suggested items in the calendar recently emailed out by Pastor (also listed below), you may purchase twin or full-size sheets to help with bedding, (which is also a large need) or you can make a monetary donation and have volunteers do the shopping for you. Please deliver your items to church by May 15, which is when our youth will be meeting to assemble the baskets. If desired, service club youth can pick up the donated items from your home before 2:30 PM on May 15. Please use the online form emailed out by Pastor Hillenbrand to sign up to help or contact Beth DeJongh at 608-332-1130 or [email protected].
