This autumn, to strengthen its position as a cultural metropolis, the Ville de Montréal will launch an outreach project for artists from the regions, under the auspices of the Montréal cultural development agreement it has signed with the Ministère de la Culture, des Communications et de la Condition féminine du Québec. To kick off the project, the city’s Accès culture network will open its doors to artists from the regions of the Lower St. Lawrence, the Gaspé and the Magdalen Islands. This first segment of the project, entitled De l’île à la mer, “From the Island to the Sea,” brings you feauture shows and performances by storytellers, singers, dramatic actors, jazz improvisers and classical musicians – not to mention a great series of nine exhibitions produced in association with the Musée régional de Rimouski. This new cultural season will also see the tenth anniversary of L’ONF à la maison. This invaluable series lets you watch recent documentary and animated films from the National Film Board of Canada, and also gives every audience a chance to talk with directors, crew members or special guests after each screening, making each event a unique experience. To highlight this anniversary year, a special screening will take place on Sunday, October 4, at the Maison de la culture Ahuntsic- Cartierville. For this occasion, three films will be presented with their directors in attendance: ONF 70 ans by Jean-François Pouliot, The Danish Poet by Torill Kove, and The Necktie, an award-winning animated film by Jean-François Lévesque. And since we’re on the subject of birthdays, there’s another ten-year anniversary to be celebrated as well – that of the Quebec Intercultural Storytelling Festival, which features local and international artists who will carry you Guillaume Lachapelle, Manège #7 Series, 2004-2006 away on the wings of their imagination. Be sure to hear as many of these yarn-spinners as you can! All in all, the upcoming cultural season promises to be a superbly rich and entertaining one, with more than 500 performances and exhibitions happening in the different boroughs of the city. No later than the tenth day following this debate, the Commission de la représentation électorale shall establish the fi nal boundaries of the electoral divisions.
