Research areas: Emerging trends in Islamic banking & finance, identifying sources and chains of illicit financial flows and providing recommendations to curb such flows from the African continent, researching on domestic resource mobilisation, money laundering, cross border taxation, health rights, tax abuse by mining companies, tax evasion, fiscal remedies for minority communities in extractives sector, secrecy jurisdictions and tax literacy.

May 2016: Rapporteur for KELIN and the Commonwealth Foundation. Wrote the report on the National Assembly Dialogue on the Actualisation of Article 23(2) of the Constitution to Give Jurisdiction on Human Rights and Constitutional Matters to Subordinate Courts.

International Research Consultancies/Projects 2017 Researching on and preparing a report on access to fiscal remedies by communities affected by the business related human rights abuses by mining corporations in Africa commissioned by African Coalition for Corporate Responsibility.

2015 Researching on Mining Companies, Tax Abuses and Human Rights Violations in Zambia. Project commissioned by International Bar Association’s Human Rights Institute.

2014 - 2015 Researching on the impact of Illicit Financial Flows on Domestic Resource Mobilization: Optimizing Africa’s Mineral Revenues commissioned by United Nations Economic Commission for Africa. Examined the legal and regulatory challenges in Zambia, Tanzania, DRC and South Africa which result in tax leakages within the mining sector.

2014 - 2015 Conducted a Case Study on Human Rights, Health Policymaking & Programming in Cherengany’i Sub County (Kenya). Commissioned by the World Health Organisation.

Consultancies, Legal Audits and Legislative Drafting July 2016 Rural Electrification Authority Conducted a comprehensive legal audit of the Authority’s departments and prepared a template for each department to assess its level of compliance with the specific laws applicable to each department and to also assess it level of exposure to risk as a result of non compliance.

2013 - 2014 Privatisation Commission of Kenya Reviewed the legal and regulatory framework for privatization in Kenya, examined the coherency of the Privatization Act with the Constitution and other related laws, assessed the effect of the Public Private Partnerships Act on the functions of the Commission and drafted amendments to the Privatization Act (No. 2 of 2005) and assessed the best practices in Europe and Asia to borrow from in order to mitigate the risks, implications and challenges that may arise during repeal of the Act. 2013 - 2014 Tax Justice Network – Africa Examined and analysed the impact and risk of double taxation agreements in generating revenue in Kenya, addressed the legal and regulatory challenges that exist in the economy that promote and are conducive to tax evasion and made recommendations to overcome these legal and regulatory challenges.

2013 Taita Taveta University College Reviewed its Trust Deed and Rules and drafted the pension scheme for its staff.

2013 Water Service Regulatory Board (WASREB) Assessed the legal and regulatory challenges that exist within WASREB and to make recommendations addressing such identified challenges in context with the national and county obligations under the 2010 Constitution.

2012 Public Procurement and Oversight Authority Recommended possible and effective solutions for the Authority to fully operationalise the Public Procurement and Disposal Act together with its Regulations and at the same time addressed the legal and regulatory challenges affecting the Authority and making recommendations overcoming these challenges.

2011 - 2012 Ministry of Land, Kenya Drafted the Land Bill, the Land Registration Bill and the National Land Commission Bill which have now been enacted into law.
