German Language Intensive Course 2021 Sibiu

General Information

An intensive course for is hosted each year by the “Lucian Blaga” University in Sibiu () as post-university course "Intercultural Communication in German-speaking Countries". It is organized by “Studia Oecumica” with “Brot für die Welt” as main partner. The target group are people related to the Church, with university degree1 in humanities or social science studies, especially theologians, regardless of their religious affiliation. The course sums a total of 700 lessons till the B1+ level, held by German - lecturers at the University and concludes with a regular academic examination and the opportunity to take the B1 exam at the Goethe Institute. The course is planned to take place with physical presence of the participants in Sibiu (Romania). Due the special situation in the pandemic, parts of the course can be attended at home online.

A successful graduation of the course (B1 Certificate) offers the opportunity to apply for a scholarship to study in as a guest student or to study the programs in German Language offered by the University Lucian Blaga in Sibiu (Protestant Pastoral Theology, German studies, Pedagogy).

Period: 9 Months, from October 1st, 2021 to June 30, 2022. Classes: 4 hours daily (Monday till Friday). Participants: 16 Housing: in student campus (Bd. Victoriei 40, Sibiu). Meals/Catering: cafeteria or kitchen use of dormitory.

Application Procedure

Application dates: April 1st - May 1st , 2021, response to the applications Mai 20th 2021 and July 12th – 17th, response 31st July2 2021 The application file (in German or English) shall include:

1. CV 2. Motivation letter 3. Recommendation letter from the church authority 4. 2 academic recommendations (from professors) 5. Authenticated copies and translations of graduation certificates 6. The list of result of the completed study years (Academic Transcripts) 7. Authenticated copy and translation of the birth certificate

Information about Scholarship

Scholarships are possible through “Brot für die Welt” in Berlin, “Gustav-Adolf-Werk” and others. The regular scholarships cover the cost of attending the course (including the exam), accommodation, meals, travel and visa costs. In case of online attendance a scholarship can also be given.3
