Eyore, you know who he is, Winnie the Pooh's buddy. This month I kind of r----~_ have a Eyore attitude. What the hell else is going to go down the tubes? The 250 is off the road again for an extended amount of time. More on that some other time but for now I'll just leave it at that the 250 is off the road. Patrick's Stag is running but not without some drama. We had to change the head gasket. After changing the head gasket the car would not start. Hmm, Dude, are you sure you tightened everything up? Check the timing, valve adjustment, timing again, fuel delivery, all are checking out OK. Go back to basics and find the manifold is loose. I won't say who tightened that. Tighten up the manifold bolts and it runs like a charm, or at least pretty close to a charm. Patrick purchased new Kumho tires from Tire Rack and had them mounted locally. About 40-50 miles later, the tube in the RR tire let go. Maybe it is time to offer the wire wheels up on eBay after all. THE 7th ANNUAL GTA POLAR BEAR RUN

The Georgia Triumph Association is holding our 7th annual Polar Bear Run on Saturday, December 30,2006. We had nearly 100 cars at last year's event, when we visited Helen, GA. We may see a few more this time out. TJ;le spirit of our event is to encourage aU sports and antique autos to meet for a drive and share some fun on the last weekend of the year. All interesting automobiles are welcome. It's not a race, but a leisurely tour. All cars will receive a set of de tailed directions, so that nobody gets lost or left behind. This year's final destination will be a visit to the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum near Birmingham, Alabama (www.barbermuseum.org). With hundreds of classic motorcycles and over 50 sports and racing automobiles in the collection, there is something that will appeal to nearly everyone. We'll be meeting in the southwest corner of the Atlanta metro area (TBD) for a scenic drive toward the museum. Along the way, we'll pass through the town of Talladega, where we'll allow you to choose one of the many BBQ stands in town for lunch - or you can enjoy one of the other local eateries. A guide will be provided with your direction sheets. The group will meet around 9 AM, with a departure time before 9:30. Admission to the museum will be discounted by a few dollars More plans will be announced as we near to our departure date. Please watch your newsletter and the GTA web site (www.GaTriumph.com) for updates and complete details. Any questions? Please contact George Forster at 770-266-2603 (H), 770-845-4484 (C), or [email protected] for more information. The Trumpet A publication of the Georgia Triumph Association September, 2006 Page 6

I am typing this on the plane getting ready to go back to Atlanta. I certainly hope that tightening the belt will finally repair this problem. This will be the easiest and cheapest fix of all.

UPDATE: Tightening the belt did NOT repair the problem. I had to pull the radiator and hood to replace the alternator. It's nice to have friends who have spares lying around. Of course I put a hole in the radiator while removing it and replacing it three times. My local shop repaired it in one day and then everything worked great. I thought it would be a good idea to put the bolt in from the back of the engine when I reinstalled the alternator, This way, I can leave the radiator in the car when replacing the alternator on the next go around. Imagine if the engineers at Triumph had thought of that! I drove the car to the Roadster Factory's Summer Party in Pennsylvania, terrorized the countryside around Armagh, and then drove back home with no charging jssues.
