August 14, 2012 TO: Interested Agencies RE: Draft Amendment to the 2010 Monterey Bay Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) In response to requirements pursuant to its designation as a Metropolitan Planning Organization, the Association of Monterey Bay Area Governments (AMBAG) is preparing an amendment to the 2010 Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) for the tri- county (Monterey, San Benito and Santa Cruz Counties), Monterey Bay region. The 2010 MTP includes policies, vision statements, transportation improvement projects and a financial plan for the plan's implementation based on anticipated available federal, state and local funding over the next 25 years (2010 to 2035). The MTP is a financially constrained document and must be updated at least every four years. This amendment is required as a prerequisite for the Transportation Agency for Monterey County’s federal Small Starts program grant application for the construction phase of the Commuter Rail project. The draft amendment to the 2010 MTP will be available for public review from August 13, 2012 through September 12, 2012. The document can be viewed/downloaded at www.ambag.org or at http://www.tamcmonterey.org/. We welcome hearing any comments you may have about the draft amendment to the 2010 MTP. A copy of the 2010 MTP amendment is available for public review and comments at www.ambag.org or www.tamcmonterey.org from August 13,2012 to September 12, 2012. The 2010 MTP is the region’s long range transportation plan through 2035 for the three-county Monterey Bay metropolitan region, including Monterey, San Benito, and Santa Cruz counties. The MTP includes policies, vision statements, transportation improvement projects and a financial plan for the plan's implementation based on anticipated available federal, state and local funding over the next 25 years (2010 to 2035).
