TOURIST INFORMATION This visitor's guide has been compiled to provide guests with some basic information about the Eternal City. All information was correct at the time of publishing, but is subject to change. We accept no responsibility for any errors or changes. CITY TAX Tourist tax: since 1st January 2011, a tourist tax has been imposed on all visitors to Rome. The tax currently stands at 3.50 per person, per night and it applies to a maximum of 10 consecutive nights in the calendar year within the same establishment. There are exemptions (please see below). How to pay: the tax should be paid in cash directly to the establishment. Exemptions: persons who are residents of Rome, children up to age 10, all who accompany patients for health reasons, members of the State police force and the other armed forces, and one coach driver and one tour leader/tourist guide for every 23 group members. Belli Night Bus There are 23 night buses that run approximately every 30 minutes. Most night buses depart from 'Piazza dei Cinquecento' (at Termini Station) and Piazza Venezia. Bus stops that are served by a night bus are easily recognised as they are characterised by the symbol of an 'Owl' on the bus stop's schedule board. TRASPORT TO/FROM THE AIRPORTS Terravision Shuttle Bus Fiumicino Airport – Rome The shuttle bus connection is quick and travels non-stop from Fiumicino Airport to Termini Station, Rome's main transport hub and is an excellent starting point to discover the Eternal City. Timetable Frequency: during the day buses run about every 20 minutes, but are less frequent during the night. Journey time is approximately 20 minutes. There is also a bus service run by Cotral from Anagnina that serves other areas of Rome and southern Lazio. It is possible to buy tickets at the information booth at the airport, on board or at authorised retailers. Ticket Prices 6 Euros one way / 11 Euros return Timetable From Termini: first bus 05:00 / last bus 20:30. From Fiumicino: first bus 08:30 / last bus 00:30. Departures are every 40 - 50 minutes and the journey time is about 60 minutes. Ticket Prices 6 Euros one way (from Termini) / 4 Euros one way (from Ciampino) / 8 Euros return Timetable From Termini: first bus 04:30 / last bus 21:30. From Ciampino Airport: first bus 07:45 / last bus 23:30. Departures are every 60 minutes and the journey time is 30 - 40 minutes. Web: http://www.vaticanstate.va Entry to the actual basilica is free. However, please note that there is a dress code on entering any holy place in Rome; no shorts, bare shoulders or miniskirts. This applies to both men and women.
