Akage No Anne ~ Takahata Isao ~ 1979 Akage No Anne
Before Green Gables Anne of Green Gables
Before Green Gables Anne of Green Gables 100th Anniversary Edition Scrapbooking Made Easy Scrapbooking is the creative preservation of your photographs and memorabilia in an acid-free, photo-safe manner. (Acid in papers, adhesives, plastics and albums can cause your photos to fade and spot.) What Do I Need to Get Started? Not only is scrapbooking fun and creative, it is also easy and inexpensive to get started. To get going, we recommend the following basic items: Package of Acid-Free Cardstock (20-30 sheets) on which to place photos. Archival Page Protectors in which to place finished photos. Photo-Fix Adhesive (or a tape runner adhesive)—Never use glue on photos! The photo fix is a double-sided adhesive square that you simply place on the back of your photo; it will hold the photo in place on the acid-free paper. Pigment-Ink Black Pen—We recommend either the ZIG Millennium pen (available in five tip widths), the ZIG Twin Tip Writer pen, or a Stabilo pencil. Remember to use a pigment-ink pen to write on the back of your photos—and be sure to give the ink a few seconds to dry. Never write on the back of your photos with a ballpoint pen! Oval or Circle Template—This will allow you to crop (cut) your photos into a shape. When shaping a photo, be sure that you don’t cut out any important “historical” information (such as avocado-green refrigerators!). Remember only to crop photos for which you have negatives—never crop polaroids. Personal Trimmer—This allows you to cut perfectly straight lines every time! Need more ideas? Montgomery. Adapted into over 40 multimedia projects since its publication, it has a significant historical and cultural presence. This research blends feminist media and literature analysis in an investigation of the representation of girlhood in Anne with an E, the 2017 to 2019 CBC & Netflix television program. This work focuses on Anne with an E, the Kevin Sullivan 1984 film, the 1934 George Nicholls Jr. film, and the original novel based on Anne’s Bildungsroman characteristics. Through the analysis of how Anne and the narrative interact with concepts of gender, race, class, sexuality, and ability status, emerges how the very definition of what it means to be a ‘girl’ and how it has changed. -

Before Green Gables, Book Excerpt
Before Green Gables Book Excerpt Budge Wilson Chapter 20: Katie Maurice One day, about a month after Eliza's wedding day, and about three weeks after Anne had screamed out her grief in the woods, Anne was putting some dishes away in the old glassed in bookcase that had once belonged to her own family. It was kept in a corner of the house that received very little light. When Anne closed the door, after depositing the dishes, she saw her own reflection in the glass door. She stared and stared at it. In the dimness of the reflection, her freckles had disappeared and her hair looked almost brown. For a moment or two, she thought it was another person. Even after she realized that this was not the case, she clung to the idea. "A friend! A friend!" she kept muttering under her breath. The house was unusually quiet. All four babies and Mrs. Thomas were asleep. Mr. Thomas (who had not had a drink for many weeks) was at work. During this period, Anne was starting to get used to Eliza's absence, although still deeply sad about it. And she rather liked the new baby. He didn't cry as much as the other ones did, and he was much less beautiful than all the bigger Thomas children. In fact, he was quite odd-looking, with an oversized nose and a slight cast in one eye. He wasn't exactly cross-eyed, but he wasn't as oppressively handsome as the older little boys. Anne had always regarded herself as an unattractive-looking person. -

The L. M. Montgomery Collection in the Forest City
Collection Title: The L. M. Montgomery Collection in the Forest City Canada's National Book Collecting Contest Entry By: Vanessa Brown Collecting Montgomery by Vanessa Brown Collecting the work of Lucy Maud Montgomery--one of Canada's most important authors--is a sometimes challenging, but always rewarding vocation. It is a project that is dear to my heart, and one that I find endlessly fascinating. My books and ephemera are kept in my library, some on shelves and some behind glass, creating a haven I can retreat to and revel in the writings of my favourite contributor to our national literature. My primary interest is collecting rare first editions of Montgomery's work, but the complicated publishing history of her books, and influences of her life upon the reading of her work, have naturally led me to adopt a wider scope in my acquisitions. In addition to collectible editions by Montgomery, I now also includes rare or valuable editions of secondary material such as critical study, autobiography, letters, poetry and ephemera. As a passionate reader of Montgomery's works as well as a collector, I also maintain reading copies, including some of the critical works, in less valuable editions. The final aspect of my collection involves the Cavendish Library editions of Montgomery's works, which are not particularly valuable, but are a challenge to find and look lovely on my shelf with their brightly coloured dust jackets. As I am sure is true of any collector, I find that my taste evolves as time goes by. I have learned lessons from collecting that have made me more discriminate about volumes I take into my collection, but I have also experienced the regret of passing up an item and not being able to replace it. -
