JASMINA HOLBUS

Jasmina Holbus was born in . She graduated from Chelsea Collage of Art & Design in London, Department of Interior Design in 1996. She is a member of the Association of Serbian Writers since 1993 and The Association of Fine Arts Artists and Designers of since 2007, holding the status of an independent artist.

Jasmina Holbus has been professionally engaged in interior design since 1997. She is the co-owner and the director of Real Home since 2015. Real Home has a number of realized residential buildings in both architecture and construction projects in Belgrade. Jasmina is the author of significant and implemented designs for residential facilities both in the field of architecture and in interior design and decoration of residential space for reputed clients.

She has been engaged as a theatre stage designer since 2003. She was a stage designer for more than twenty plays. As a stage designer she collaborated with the Yugoslavian Theatre of Drama in the plays The President and Eve of Retirement (Pred penzijom) by Thomas Bernhard directed by Dino Mustafić, 2006, Banat by Uglješa Šajtinac directed by Dejan Mijač, 2007. She adapted the stage design of Vladislav Lalicki related to new staging of the play A Flea in Her Ear (Buba u uhu), directed by Ljubiša Ristić, 2009, and she collaborated as a stage designer on staging the plays directed by Miloš Lolić: Druga strana by Dejan Dukovski, 2006, Dreamers (Sanjari) by Robert Musil, 2008, Othello by William Shakespeare, 2012, Dnevnik o Čarnojeviću by Miloš Crnjanski, 2014. Jasmina collaborated with Lolić on staging the plays Velika bela zavera by Dimitrije Vojnov, 2004, Muška stvar (Mensch Meier) by Franz Xavier Kroetz, Atelje 212, 2007, God is a DJ (Bog je DJ) by Falk Richter, Malo pozorište „Duško Radović“, 2010. She was a stage designer in the play Zoika’s Apartment (Zojkin stan) by Michael Bulgakov staged in the Serbian National Theatre in and directed by Dejan Mijač, 2011. In coproduction of “Budva Grad teatar” and “Bitef Dance Company”, Jasmina collaborated in the dance show Don Juan, staged by the choreographer Maša Kolar in 2014, as well in the play staged by Bitef Theatre Dali & Picasso by Fernando Arrabal, directed by Dimitrije Udovički, 2014. She was a librettist and a stage designer for the dance show Triad (Trijada), staged by Maša Kolar, choreographer in Zagreb Dance Centre in 2015. In the National Theatre of Belgrade, Jasmina collaborated on staging Mary Stewart by Friedrich Schiller, directed by Miloš Lolić in 2015. At the XII Festival of Mediterranean Theater Purgatoria she collaborated with choreographer Miloš Isailović at the ballet performance Macbeth in the co-production of Bitef Theater from Belgrade and the Cultural Center Tivat in 2017. With Maša Kolar she co-operated in the 2017/18 season in the Croatian National Theater Ivana pl . Zajca in Rijeka, at the ballet performance Macbeth. In the "SNG Drama Ljubljana" (Slovenian National Theater) with director Miloš Lolić, she collaborated on the stage design of Dušan Jovanović's The Wall, the Lake (Zid jezero) 2017. She was a stage designer in the play NORDOST by Torsten Buchsteiner, directed by Ana Maričić, Bitef Theater & Beo Art production, 2018. As a stage designer she collaborated with Atelje 212 theatre in the play Five life’s of sad Milutin by Milena Marković directed by Alexandra Milavic Davies, 2018. In the Belgrade Drama Theater she collaborates in the play Roman on London by Miloš Crnjanski, directed by Ana Đorđević, 2018/19 seasons.

Jasmina Holbus was an Art director of the project Bojan Z. Sextet in Sava Centre in Belgrade and Synagogue in Novi Sad in 2013. She was the author of video works for the tour of Shelter With A View jazz album – piano concert of Bojan Zulfikarpašić, France, , , 2014/2015. She was the author of various multimedia projects in architecture, graphic design and audio-video installations – Barcelona Art Biennial, 2005. She participates in group exhibitions of the applied arts in the country on regular basis. She is the author of Let's Talk Multimedia Art Research Project , at gallery „Štab“ Belgrade 2016.

Jasmina has been engaged in literary work since 1990. To date, she has published ten collections of poems: Noći uzdaha (Nights of Sighs), Prometej, Novi Sad, 1990; Ne mogu pobeći (I Can’t Escape), Prosveta, Belgrade, 1993; Gde prestaje reč (Where Words Stop), Rad, Belgrade, 1994; Bela, Nemir, Šestar, (White, Unrest, Caliper) Plato, Belgrade, 2002; Slagalica (Jigsaw), Plato, Belgrade, 2006; Repozicija (Reposition), Plato, Belgrade, 2010; Tempo, Plato, Belgrade, 2013; Hipotenuza (Hypotenuse), Zlatno Runo, Belgrade, 2015. The eleventh book is a selection of poems from the previous ten published books entitled Izbor (Choice), for the publisher Zlatno Runo, Belgrade, 2015. Her poetry is published in literary periodicals. She is a participant of poetry festival Festival Voix Vives de méditerranée en méditerranée 2016 in France. Her poetry is translated into and published in French (published by Al Manar), within the edition of the poetry festival in 2016.

Awards:

GRAND PRIX MIRA TRAILOVIĆ – BITEF 2009 for the play Sanjari (Dreamers) directed by Miloš Lolića and produced by the Yugoslav Drama Theatre.

She received the annual award from The Association of Fine Arts Artists and Designers of Serbia for the best stage designer in 2013.

Special Award for Artistic Achievement at the XII Festival of Mediterranean Theater Purgatoria for the ballet performance Macbeth produced by Bitef Theater from Belgrade and Cultural Center Tivat 2017.
