Registration Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Town Clerk’s Office; special evening sessions of Registrars held preceding elections at the Police Station. Absentee voting permitted in all elections. Dog Licenses A dog should be licensed when three months old. Registrations held June 1 through August 31 with the Town Clerk. License fees: $15/1 year; $18/2 years; $25/3 years. All licenses expire August 31. After August 31, a $5.00 fine is due up to thirty days. After thirty days, a $25.00 fine is due. Tax Bills Tax bills are paid quarterly. The first two quarters are preliminary bills and are based on the previous year’s bill. The first quarter is due on August 1, the second quarter is due on November 1, the third quarter is due on February 1, and the fourth quarter is due on May 1. If unpaid by due date, interest will be calcu- lated from the due date to date of payment. Motor vehicle excise bills are due 30 days from date of issu- ance, as well as water bills. Simpson, 2007 Abstract of the research This research centres on an artistic exploration of ethnographic methodologies whilst investigating tourist performativity and the presentation of self within tourist documentation. Central to this presentation is the performance of the documented smile. The materiality of this research comes from documentary evidence (video, sound, photography, interviews, fieldnotes and diaries) recorded during a fieldtrip around popular tourist destinations in Europe. Data gathering methods, such as participant observation, reflexive writing and informal interviews with tourists, were employed not just to capture the tourist experience of others, but also to explore the multiplicity and variability of the researcher self within the field. The representation of the researcher within the research findings has become one of the issues that this project has sought to address. Two practical outputs, a primary case study entitled Smile: Formaggio con Queso (a randomly configuring computer networked installation) and a secondary case study (an interactive kiosk), interface a database constructed from the field data. Both case studies support research into how ethnographic methods might be used to inform the production processes of an art project, and, additionally, how digital art practice might contribute to the presentation of post-paradigm ethnography. The practical issues of data collecting and the implications of using the self as part of the data source are highlighted.

März 2014, 22.00 - 24.00 Uhr (Zweitsendung) Der englische Gitarrist und Komponist Fred Frith, geboren 1949, testet seit seinen Anfängen mit der Band «Henry Cow» die Grenzen seines Instruments. Er entführt seine Hörer in entlegene Klangwelten. Der Gitarrist Vinz Vonlanthen ist Gast in der Sendung. Es gibt tausend Arten Gitarre zu spielen. Fred Frith hat noch ein paar Dutzend hinzu erfunden. Vom «Progressive Rock» ausgehend, hat der Klangkünstler aus Yorkshire mit Tonabnehmern und elektronischer Verfremdung experimentiert. Frith hat seine Klangfantasien auch für Gitarrenquartett arrangiert und für das Ensemble Modern komponiert. Schon mit seinem ersten Solo-Album unternahm er 1974 den Versuch, analog John Cage‘s Klavierkompositionen die Gitarre neu zu erfinden. Klangvielfalt und rhythmisch komplexe Muster kennzeichnen seine Arbeit. Der in Genf lebende Gitarrist Vinz Vonlanthen als Gast analysiert die technischen Kniffe des unkonventionellen Virtuosen und würdigt den Sound-Visionär Fred Frith.
