Special Olympics provides year round sports training and competition for over 9,000 adults and children with an intellectual disability across Ireland. In this region there are 13 Olympic-type sports offered within 81 Special Olympics clubs. There are more than 30 sporting events hosted annually and there are over 2,500 volunteers registered with us. 5 PEAKS CHALLENGE ROUTE

On the border of Co.Sligo and Co. Leitrim. This is the highest peak of the Dartry mountain 2,123FT range and the highest in Sligo.

Benbulben is a large rock formation in Sligo. It is also part of the Dartry BENBULBEN mountain range sitting in stunning 1,725FT Yeats country. It is a protected geological site.

Lying in the centre of Gleann Neifinne, a district bound by Lough Conn to the east, 2,644FT the Windy Gap/Barnageehy to the south and Birreenacorragh mountain to the west.

The ridge is a narrow fin of quartzite roughly half a kilometre long, which DIAMOND culminates in a that marks the 445m high summit. Stunning views can 1,450FT be seen of Inishturk, Inishbofin, Inishshark aswell as the Connemara coastline!

Nicknamed the Reek, as it is climbed by pilgirms each year on Reek Sunday, this CROAGH PATRICK is the third highest mountain in Co. Mayo. Sitting 8 kilometres from Westport 2,507FT above the villages of and , it forms the southern part of a u shaped valley flowing in to .

An adventure of a lifetime awaits you! Join us on Sept 9th & 10th for the ultimate challenge by taking on the five highest mountains in Connaught within 36 hours! ITINERARY Particpants will meet at 6am at the Riverside Hotel, Sligo, and from here you will travel to Truskmore, the first peak, then it’s onto neighbouring Benbulben. After our descent from Benbulben the bus will take you to Nephin in Co Mayo and then comes the highest peak - Letterfrack. There will be an over night stay in Mayo and the next day you will take on and the challenge finishes off with Croagh Patrick. The groups final journey is back to the Riverside Hotel for a well deserved celebratory meal. FUNDRAISING Once you pay €50 at the time of signing up your place is secure. You are asked to also commit to raising an additional €450. Once you have registered for the challenge you will receive a pack with suggestions and support on ways in which to raise the money. Fitness: This challenge requires a moderate level of fitness and endurance. You do not have to have experience in mountain climbing. If you are unsure we will be happy to talk to you about it.
