This 2+2 Ministerial is the highest-level institutional mechanism between the two countries and provides for a review of the security, defence and strategic partnership between India and the United States. This was the second 2+2 meeting and the first in US. At the Dialogue, both sides Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh and US Secretary of Defense Dr Mark Esper in positively appraised the growing Washington on December 18, 2019. Raksha Mantri being accorded a ceremonial welcome with a Guard of Honour and 19-gun salute ahead of his bilateral meeting with the US Secretary of Defense, Dr Mark Esper, in Washington. partnership between India and the United States, and noted that important milestones had been achieved since the inaugural 2+2 dialogue in New Delhi in 2018. Both sides reiterated their commitment to advancing a free, open, inclusive, peaceful, and prosperous Indo- Pacific region. At the Dialogue, both sides also committed to further deepen Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh and External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar leading the military-to-military cooperation, Indian delegation, while US Secretary of Defense Dr Mark Esper and US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo heading the US delegation at the 2+2 dialogue in Washington. Also seen including between the Indian Navy are Defence Secretary Dr Ajay Kumar and Secretary (Defence Production) Shri Subhash and the US Navy Fleets under US Chandra. Indo-Pacific Command, Central 4 Sainik Samachar January 1-15, 2020 Command, and Africa Command and intend to expand similar cooperation between their respective Armies and Air Forces. A number of other initiatives to enhance military- to-military cooperation were also agreed upon. The two sides concluded the Industrial Security Annex during the visit. Priority initiatives have been identified for execution under the Defence Technology and Trade Initiative (DTTI) programme. The two sides also concluded a Raksha Mantri at the Library of Congress in Washington. Shri Rajnath Singh also paid floral tributes at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the Arlington National Cemetery. After the 2+2 meeting, Shri Rajanth Singh, along with Dr S Jaishankar, called on President of the United States, Donald J Trump at the Oval Office. They were accompanied by US National Security Adviser Ambassador Robert O’Brian. - PRO Defence January 1-15, 2020 Sainik Samachar 5 Raksha Mantri visits NAS Oceana & Naval Station Norfolk during his US visit aksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh Rvisited the Naval Air Station (NAS) Oceana and Naval Station Norfolk on December 17, 2019 during his visit to the United States of America. The visit highlighted the depth of the US-India defence partnership and the close ties between the Navies of the two countries. During the visit to NAS Oceana, Raksha Mantri inspected a Boeing Mobile Flight Simulator, static display and F/A-18E flight demonstration. The Indian delegation also toured the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69), which is located at Naval Station Norfolk. Shri Rajnath Singh was accompanied by Ambassador of India to the US Shri Harsh Vardhan Shringla, Defence Secretary Dr Ajay Kumar, other senior officials of the Government of India and active- duty military officers. Raksha Mantri said his visit reflected on the strong defence ties between India and the United States and hoped that the relations will further strengthen in the near future. The US officials said they were honoured to host Shri Rajnath Singh and the Indian delegation to Naval Air Station Oceana and onboard USS Dwight D Eisenhower, adding that the visit will further bolster the partnerships between the two countries. India and the United States continue to build defence cooperation ties through military exercises, defence trade and official visits & exchanges, including this visit to the largest US naval base in the world. - PRO Defence January 1-15, 2020 Sainik Samachar 7 Integrated Financial Advisors Workshop Integrated Finance is the backbone of any Ministry: RM aksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh Rhas termed Integrated Finance as the backbone of any ministry/ department, saying that desired objectives can only be achieved when a ministry/department is able to manage within its budgetary resources without compromising on operational needs. Addressing the Integrated Financial Advisors (IFA) Workshop on December 24, 2019, Raksha Mantri commended the Finance Division in the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and Controller General of Defence Accounts (CGDA) for meeting the needs of the three Services and other allied organisations, like Ordnance Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh addressing the gathering during the Integrated Finance Advisors (IFA) workshop.
