ComedySportz Is Their Name, Improv Is Their Game

Oconomowoc, Wisconsin - The professional improvisational comedy troupe, ComedySportz will bring their antics live from Milwaukee to the Oconomowoc Arts Center for three different dates for the 2013/14 season. The first event is October 12th with two separate performances that evening. The next two shows in the series are January 25th and March 15th.
“Many church groups, birthday parties, clubs, businesses and families came out last few years and made an evening of it.” - Michael Duncan arts center director remarked. “We even expanded the food offering this year to include Cousins Subs, Rocky Rococo Pizza and Mrs. Wonn-derful’s cake balls. Special meal deals are available.”
Each night will have two shows: A family show will start at 5:00 p.m. and a late show will start at 7:30 p.m. “These show are really popular so get your tickets in advance” – states Duncan.

ComedySportz is a fun and hilarious night out for anyone who loves to laugh. The fast-paced, interactive and family-friendly improvisational comedy show is based on sports metaphors. The show features two teams of comedian “Actletes” competing for laughs and points, with a referee keeping things moving, awarding points and calling fouls.
The comedians on stage rely on suggestions called out from audience members as they develop scenes, characters, and compose song lyrics on the spot in the style made famous by the TV show “Whose Line Is It Anyway?”
Each show is completely unique as the audience judge the scenes and ultimately decide the winners and losers. ComedySportz comedians also ask “willing volunteers” to join them on stage to get into the act.
Unlike most other forms of performance comedy, ComedySportz is great for all ages. The audience of a typical ComedySportz match contains everyone from kids, to college students, to parents, to grandparents. Everyone has a good time and no one gets offended, and if an “actlete” steps beyond the boundaries of good taste, the "brown bag foul" (a brown paper sack placed over the offending player's head) will be called to set things straight.
Established in 1984, ComedySportz - Milwaukee is the longest running improve comedy event in the area. This improv troupe has done over 17,000 shows in the last 28 years, both in house and with their traveling show.
ComedySportz is licensed by the World Comedy League, Incorporated. Originating in Milwaukee, there are now over 20 cities throughout the US with licensed ComedySportz organizations.
Tickets are $18 for adults and $10 for students. Buy your tickets at the box office prior to show day and save the $2.50 per ticket service fee. Special group rates are available. Fees are added on phone orders, Internet and day of show purchases.
