Summary Most Expensive Sales

The average sale price for apartments dipped slightly in the four weeks leading up to September 1, and the total number of sales was virtually unchanged. The average price for an apartment—taking into account both condo and co-op sales—was $1.7 million, down from $1.8 million in the preceding month. The number of recorded sales, 1,071, was about the same as the preceding month. There were 462 condo sales and 609 co-op sales.

RESIDENTIAL SALES 1,071 $1.9B UNITS GROSS SALES The top two sales were penthouse units at The Charles, a new Upper East Side $20.7M condominium on First Avenue between 71st and 72nd streets. The Charles, #PH2 The most expensive sale was for $37.9 million for an 11,747-square-foot penthouse unit 1355 First Avenue in the building. The price is the most ever paid for a condo on the Upper East Side east 6+ beds, 6+ baths of Third Avenue. The unit comprises floors 29 through 32 of the building. Approx 7,198 ft2 ($2,875/ft­ 2) The second most expensive sale was a $20.7 million penthouse in The Charles. The unit measures 7,198 square feet and consists of the 27th and 28th floors of the building.

The third top sale was a five-bedroom unit at The Marquand, another Upper East Side condo. Actress Kathleen Turner has parted ways with her 200 Riverside Boulevard condo, selling it for $3.8 million. Turner bought the Trump Place pad in 2003 for $2.3 million.
