Previous winners such as Marc lord and Dean Davies have received tremendous recognition. The annual award will be presented atthe League's end­ of-season Phelan Medal Presentation night, with the recipient being selected from the weekly awards. · Players nominated by their dub must be in their first full season of senior football (less than four senior matches In the Sydney AFL or elsewhere prior to 2006) and must be under · 21 years of age. Players may be nominated more than once throughout a season but can only win the weekly award once.

he Round 18 NAB Sydney AFL Rising Star Nominee is James Ford from the East Coast Eagles AFC. James has Tmade a remarkable recovery from serious injury early In 2006 to be the final Rising Star nominee this year. As a result of a heavy knock during the pre-season Under 18 Grading Carnival, he had his spleen removed and was in serious doubt whether he would play football again. An extremely talented player, James has shown plenty of character and determination to come back, making the State Under 18 RAMS side that competed in.National Championships in Melbourne in June. Since then, he has finished off the year with five impressive performances with the Eagles senior side. Pushing himself into an undefeated side that will make an assault on the club's first senior premiership, James has offered Coach Rohan Graham another handy on-ball option, averaging 15 possessions per game. In Round 18 against Balmain, he also demonstrated his brilliance in front of goal, kicking three. majors. James is a product of the Baulkham Hills JAFC and progressed through each of the age groups with the Falcons from the Under 1ls. Throughout his junior career, James has made a number of representative teams and squads, including reP,!~~ent!ng NSW/ACT at the Under 16 Championships in. Adelaide m2004 and the RAMS in 2004 and 2005.
