STATISTICS Date of Birth: 26st January 1987 Height: 184 cm Weight: 87 kg Club: Brisbane Lions Number: 11 Recruited From: Tasmania U/18, pick no. 45, 2004 National AFL Draft AFL Debut: 2005 2009 Games: 24 Career Games: 114 Goals: 85 Playing Honours: • AFL Rising Star Nomination 2005 • Brisbane Lions Runner Up Club Champion Award 2006 • Brisbane Lions Rookie of the Year 2006 • International Rules Series 2006 PROFILE The dynamic Tasmanian recruit busted onto the scene in 2005 playing a total of 19 games where he quickly established a reputation as a hard working midfielder that is a proven ball winner, who also enjoys a goal to celebrate with the crowd. After being nominated for the AFL Rising Star Award in 2005, Justin was given the honor of fellow Tasmanian Alistair Lynch’s famous number 11 for the 2006 season. He didn’t disappoint the famous number as he went on to win the club’s Rookie of the Year award and finished second in the Club’s Best and Fairest award behind Simon Black. Impressing international selectors with his ball winning ability, silky smooth skills and goal kicking ability he was chosen for International duties to play against Ireland in the prestigious International Rules Series. In the 2007 season Justin was unable to play with the same freedom as opposition teams started paying a greater amount of attention towards the then 20 year old. An infected foot played a role in Justin being unable to reach the same heights as previous years, restricting him to miss a large proportion of the season. For Season 2008 Justin transformed his style of play to provide the Lions with an effective run with player. Despite playing a more negative role on the oppositions leading midfielders Justin was still able to find the ball himself and provide his team with attack. This role seen Justin play a total of 18 games for season 2008. In 2009, Justin returned to the form from his early years as the attacking, hard working midfielder that he established himself as. He played in all 24 matches for the Lions in 2009 including his first two finals appearances. Justin's goal kicking ability shone though in season 2009 as he went on to kick a career season high 30 goals that resulted in 5th place for Lions Club Champion Award. The 2010 season was a season that provided the Lions with great disappointment as a team finished down the bottom half of the ladder after winning their first four games. At the end of the 2010 season Justin signed a three year deal with the Western Bulldogs where his pace and ability to break the lines will hopefully enable the Dogs to get that one step closer to Premiership glory..
