Newcastle City & Eastern Districts Cricket Club Inc. Annual Report
Newcastle City & Eastern Districts Cricket Club Inc. Annual Report 2013/14 Major Sponsor 2014 Annual General Meeting of Newcastle City & Eastern Districts Cricket Club Inc. Agenda Held at The Bennett Hotel , 146 Denison Street , Hamilton , on Monday 2nd June 2014 Commencing 7pm 1. Apologies 2. Previous Minutes 2013 AGM 3. Annual Reports 4. Financial Audits 5. Positions declared vacant 6. Election of Positions – nominations and voting President Senior Vice President Treasurer Secretary General Committee 7. General Business President's Report It is with great pleasure that I present the President’s Report for the 2013/2014 season. Season 13/14 was another successful one for the Club. A Club Championship, all teams( bar one) reaching Semi-Finals and managing to win some silverware from all three cricket associations in Newcastle goes some way to show the great effort that was put in by all our players. Following on from last season’s success in the NJCA competitions we once again took out the Club Championship; back to back wins is an outstanding achievement. Congratulations to all the players, coaches, managers and parents involved. The 4th grade team came first in the NDCA competition and the D1 side won their final in the C&S competition. Special mention goes to the very talented Will Davis on winning the NJCA Player of the Year award; also to Michael Wilkinson on winning the NDCA 3rd grade bowling award. The Milo In2Cricket program was again a huge success; our thanks to Tom Anderson and all who were involved with it. The two English imports, Mitch Claydon and Alexei Kervezee, made great contributions on the field for the 1st grade side and helped lift them from last to fifth on the ladder. -

Junior Convenor's Report Poloc Cricket Club AGM, February 2013 I
Junior Convenor's Report Poloc Cricket Club AGM, February 2013 I'm please to bring another report on the club's juniors to the members. And in doing so I will start with the blatantly obvious: 2012 was another wet,….. very wet, season. So wet in fact that no fewer than 49 junior matches were scheduled only to be cancelled. Astonishingly, that's more than some clubs play in a full dry season! But perhaps we shouldn't have been surprised given – if I recall correctly – the last junior game of the previous season, an Under 11 home match against West of Scotland, had been abandoned with a West batter in tears in a muddy crease and unable to run on the slippery track, horizontal rain lashing across the ground! We should've seen this as an ominous sign! But of course there's more to the club's junior programme than just the summer season. Quite literally we are able to offer year-round cricket for our juniors. At present we are coaching juniors of all ages for two hours every Sunday – these sessions continue until April. We also introduced two-hour indoor Friday night sessions before Christmas for our older juniors and students, and from next week we have two-hour Monday evening sessions as well, again for our older juniors and students. I am convinced, therefore, that, as a club, we offer as comprehensive a junior coaching and practice programme as there is in the west of Scotland. The challenge is, of course, to make the quality of what we do as high as the quantity. -

WIDER Working Paper 2021/21-Can Information Dissemination Reduce
WIDER Working Paper 2021/21 Can information campaigns reduce last mile payment delays in public works programme? Evidence from a field experiment in India Upasak Das,1 Amartya Paul,2 and Mohit Sharma3 January 2021 Abstract: Does information dissemination among beneficiaries of welfare programmes mitigate their implementation failures? We present experimental evidence in the context of a rural public works programme in India, where we assess the impact of an intervention that involves dissemination of publicly available micro-level data on last mile delays in payment and programme uptake, along with a set of intermediate outcomes. The findings point to a substantial reduction in last mile payment delays along with improvements in awareness of basic provisions of the programme and process mechanisms while indicating a limited effect on uptake. However, we find a considerable increase in uptake in the subsequent period, which is potentially indicative of an ‘encouragement’ effect through the reduction in last mile delays. A comparatively higher impact on payment delay was found for deprived communities. The findings lay a platform for an innovative information campaign that can be used by government and civil society organizations as part of transparency measures to improve efficiency. Key words: payment delay, implementation, information, randomization, welfare programme JEL classification: I30, I38, H75 Acknowledgements: We thank David Fielding, Kunal Sen, Anirban Mitra, Srikanta Kundu, Sattwik Santra, Thiagu Ranganathan, Chakradhar Buddha, Anuradha De, and numerous seminar participants at UNU-WIDER; the University of Calcutta; Centre for Development Studies, Jadavpur University; Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata; Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad; and University of Manchester for their comments. -
