  • Beatles Cover Albums During the Beatle Period
Beatles Cover Albums during the Beatle Period As a companion to the Hollyridge Strings page, this page proposes to be a listing of (and commentary on) certain albums that were released in the United States between 1964 and April 1970. Every album in this listing has a title that indicates Beatles-related content and/or a cover that is a parody of a Beatles cover. In addition, the content of every album listed here is at least 50% Beatles-related (or, in the case of albums from 1964, "British"). Albums that are not included here include, for example, records named after a single Beatles song but which contain only a few Beatles songs: for example, Hey Jude, Hey Bing!, by Bing Crosby. 1964: Nineteen-sixty-four saw the first wave of Beatles cover albums. The earliest of these were released before the release of "Can't Buy Me Love." They tended to be quickly-recorded records designed to capitalize rapidly on the group's expanding success. Therefore, most of these albums are on small record labels, and the records themselves tended to be loaded with "filler." Possibly, the companies were not aware of the majority of Beatle product. Beattle Mash The Liverpool Kids Palace M-777 Side One Side Two 1. She Loves You 1. Thrill Me Baby 2. Why Don't You Set Me Free 2. I'm Lost Without You 3. Let Me Tell You 3. You Are the One 4. The liner notes show that this album was released before the Beatles' trip to America in February, 1964.

The idea is to present “musicians in their own words”. Thurston Moore American guitarist and vocalist (July 25, 1958—) Background on Sonic Youth Thurston Moore was a guitarist and vocalist for Sonic Youth. Sonic Youth was an American alternative rock band from New York City, formed in 1981. Their lineup largely consisted of Thurston Moore (guitar and vocals), Kim Gordon (bass guitar, vocals, and guitar), Lee Ranaldo (guitar and vocals), Steve Shelley (drums). In their early career, Sonic Youth was associated with the no wave art and music scene in New York City. Part of the first wave of American noise rock groups, the band carried out their interpretation of the hardcore punk ethos throughout the evolving American underground that focused more on the DIY ethic of the genre rather than its specific sound. As a result, some consider Sonic Youth as pivotal in the rise of the alternative rock and indie rock movementThbdts. The band exper ience d success an ditild critical acc lithhtlaim throughout their existence, continuing into the new millennium, including signing to major label DGC in 1990, and headlining the 1995 Lollapalooza festival. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonic_youth Moore Quotes Q: What led Sonic Youth to do a project like Goodbye 20th Century? 21st September 2018 Submission to the House Standing Committee on Communications and The Arts Inquiry into factors contributing to the growth and sustainability of the Australian Music Industry https://www.aph.gov.au/Parliamentary_Business/Committees/House/Communications/ Australianmusicindustry INTRODUCTION Thank you for considering this submission, which is in collaboration with the Australian Association of Musicians (AM). My name is Andrew Barnum, as a PhD candidate at UTS in the Faculty of Arts and Social Science, my study is investigating the cultural contexts of Identity, Artifact and Change through the lens of Australian Song in the age of digital music. To date I’ve interviewed thirty-five Australian songwriters (genders and music genres) to understand the conditions in which their practice exists in Australia. In consideration of the terms of reference stated for this inquiry, it’s important to start with some unifying statements as drivers of purpose for this submission. WHAT ARE OUR COMMON BELIEFS AS AUSTRALIANS? As a community of Australian artists and citizens, we are informed by the belief that our nation should strive to be a productive nation - empathic, respectful, imaginative, industrious, adaptive, open and successful. (Creative Australia 2013) In this submission we are considering the reasons why our Association should support these beliefs as central to our strategy to re-invigorate The Australian music Industry, which is both a cultural and commercial Australian enterprise, locally and globally. This submission considers the factors that will grow and sustain our uniquely Australian Music Industry, as a proud Cultural and Creative Industry, and in doing so, confirm our sense of self as Australian musical entrepreneurs, our desire to feel we belong here in our birthplace as Australian artists, producers and copyright holders, and can sustain livelihood and opportunity at home, as productive members of the field of cultural production in Australia.
