Descrizione: La Φιρίκι Πηλίου (Firiki Piliou) appartiene alla specie Malus domestica Borkh e alla varietà φιρίκι, caratterizzata da frutti di piccole dimensioni. La Φιρίκι Πηλίου (Firiki Piliou) è una mela di grandezza medio-piccola, di forma cilindrica allungata, con un rapporto tra diametro e lunghezza inferiore a quello delle φιρίκια (firikia) di altre zone, di colore giallo-verde, con riflessi rossi intensi sul lato esposto al sole, polpa di durezza elevata (6-8 kg/cm2 ), forte tenore zuccherino e bassa acidità, caratteristiche che rendono la polpa dolce e succosa e le conferiscono una fragranza particolare e intensa. Il condizionamento è effettuato a norma del regolamento (CE) n. 1221/2008. Al momento della raccolta, la Φιρίκι Πηλίου (Firiki Piliou) deve avere le caratteristiche seguenti: durezza: 6-8 kg/cm2 ; solidi solubili: 11,5-13 Brix; acidità: 0,10-0,20 % di acido citrico; dimensioni: perimetro di 14-18 cm. 4.3. Zona geografica: La zona geografica è quella montuosa del Pelio, ed è delimitata in base all'altitudine (la zona di coltivazione va dai 300 ai 900 metri), alle condizioni pedoclimatiche (vicinanza delle colture a boschi di castagno, di faggio e di corbezzolo, pendii ben drenati, contenuta escursione termica, elevata umidità relativa, elevato soleggiamento), all'uniformità delle pratiche colturali (quali la coltivazione a terrazze e la raccolta manuale) e alla presenza tradizionale della coltura della Φιρίκι Πηλίου (Firiki Piliou): tali fattori conferiscono a questo frutto le sue caratteristiche organolettiche specifiche. Più precisamente, la Φιρίκι Πηλίου (Firiki Piliou) viene prodotta entro i confini amministrativi dei seguenti comuni: demo di Portaria, koinotita di Makrinitsa, demo di Zagora, demo di Agria, demo di Artemida, demo di Mouresi, demo di Milies e demo di Afetes. 4.4. Prova dell'origine: Le Φιρίκι Πηλίου (Firiki Piliou) sono ottenute da meli coltivati nella zona geografica delimitata di produzione e possono essere commercializzate come DOP solo dopo avere ottenuto l'approvazione specifica degli organismi competenti. Gli appezzamenti in cui sono coltivate sono dichiarati presso l'Unione delle cooperative agricole del Pelio e delle Sporadi settentrionali e sono censiti in vista dell'istituzione di un registro degli appezza­ menti che soddisfano i criteri stabiliti per la zona di coltivazione e di produzione. I relativi dati sono trasmessi agli organismi preposti al controllo. Il produttore dichiara il proprio raccolto presso il magazzino di calibratura-condizionamento, situato all'interno della zona geografica delimitata, indicando la superficie di produzione e il quantitativo di mele Φιρίκι Πηλίου (Firiki Piliou) prodotte. 17.8.2010 IT Gazzetta ufficiale dell’Unione europea C 222/11 Nella fase di stoccaggio, sulla prima confezione (solitamente in casse di plastica o di legno) sono annotati il produttore e il quantitativo di prodotto; tali dati sono trasmessi agli organismi preposti al controllo. La procedura si completa con il condizionamento, nel corso del quale l'organismo di controllo rilascia le etichette numerate corrispondenti ai quantitativi da condizionare. 4.5. Metodo di ottenimento: La coltivazione prevede tutte le pratiche colturali necessarie a mantenere le piante vitali e in buone condizioni: concimazione di base con concime composto, diserbo mediante falciatura e applicazione di erbicidi, irrigazione con acque superficiali di buona qualità, potatura manuale di formazione e di fruttificazione, diradamento manuale dei frutti. Per sostituire le piante improduttive o creare nuovi frutteti si utilizzano piantine ottenute, all'interno della zona delimitata, da semi di Φιρίκι Πηλίου (Firiki Piliou) oppure alberelli di due anni ottenuti dall'innesto di portainnesti MM106 e MM111 con piantine prodotte, all'interno della zona delimitata, da semi di Φιρίκι Πηλίου (Firiki Piliou). La pianta che produce le Φιρίκι Πηλίου (Firiki Piliou) fruttifica ogni due anni. Inizia a produrre frutti dopo il sesto anno dall'impianto (solitamente il decimo anno) e raggiunge grandi dimensioni. La raccolta delle mele Φιρίκι Πηλίου (Firiki Piliou) è effettuata a mano, malgrado i rilievi accidentati che caratterizzano la zona, com'è sempre avvenuto tradizionalmente da quando questa varietà è coltivata nella regione del Pelio. Le mele Φιρίκι Πηλίου (Firiki Piliou) raccolte nel campo sono solitamente poste in casse di plastica, dopo di che vengono trasportate ai magazzini frigoriferi, dove vengono refrigerate allo scopo di salvaguardarne la qualità e la genuinità, evitando le ammaccature e una durezza eccessiva della polpa. Non è vietato il ricondizionamento al di fuori della zona geografica delimitata, per soddisfare le esigenze del mercato e per promuovere il prodotto. 4.6. Legame: La zona geografica delimitata è caratterizzata da un'altitudine relativamente elevata (300-900 metri), un clima mite, estati fresche, escursioni termiche contenute, un'elevata umidità relativa (60,9 %), un elevato soleggiamento (210 ore/mese) e un'aria pura. Per quanto riguarda il terreno, sebbene la base sia costituita da scisto, che in genere determina suoli poveri, la vicinanza delle colture a boschi di castagno, di faggio e di corbezzolo concorre a formare terreni leggeri e fertili, ricchi di sostanze organiche (2-3 %), di tipo da sabbioso-limoso a sabbioso-argilloso, con un pH di 4-5 (acidi). I terreni, inoltre, sono ben drenati grazie ai pendii che caratterizzano la morfologia della zona: per tale motivo la coltura dei meli che producono la Φιρίκι Πηλίου (Firiki Piliou) avviene per lo più su terrazze. E proprio la coltivazione a terrazze, che rende impossibile l'uso di trattori e di altre macchine agricole, fa sì che tutte le operazioni vengano svolte a mano. Grazie alla loro lunga esperienza e alla conoscenza delle potenzialità di ogni albero, i produttori eseguono a mano e con particolare cura le operazioni di diradamento per ottenere da ogni albero il numero di frutti ottimale per raggiungere la qualità ricercata. Anche la potatura è eseguita a mano con cesoie pneumatiche onde evitare di danneggiare l'albero. Infine, la raccolta è eseguita con cura evitando il distacco del picciolo e piccole lesioni del frutto, salvaguardandone così l'integrità che ne favorisce la conservazione. Per sostituire le piante improduttive o creare nuovi frutteti si utilizzano piantine ottenute da semi di Φιρίκι Πηλίου (Firiki Piliou), prodotte dai produttori stessi del frutto all'interno della zona geografica delimitata. Rispetto alle φιρίκια coltivate in altre zone, la Φιρίκι Πηλίου (Firiki Piliou) presenta le particolarità illustrate di seguito. Dimensioni: è più piccola e più allungata, con un rapporto inferiore tra diametro e lunghezza. Le sue dimensioni la proteggono dalle ammaccature e dai danni provocati dal sole. Le piccole dimensioni sono dovute al particolare ecotipo di melo da φιρίκι coltivato da molti anni nella zona, alla intensa esposizione al sole, all'irrigazione né sistematica né abbondante, ai terreni ben drenati e alle sapienti pratiche di diradamento manuale. C 222/12 IT Gazzetta ufficiale dell’Unione europea 17.8.2010 Durezza: ha polpa più dura (6-8 kg/cm2 ) e croccante, con un'epidermide liscia e cerosa. La durezza della polpa è dovuta alle piccole dimensioni dei frutti, all'irrigazione né sistematica né abbondante e all'elevato tenore zuccherino. Colore: ha un colore rosso più intenso in quanto, per l'effetto combinato del terreno in pendenza e del diradamento tradizionale, gode di un'esposizione più prolungata

Toen een zakendeal niet kon doorgaan, besloot ik om met de al aangekochte vliegtickets een wandeltocht te maken op het schiereiland Pilion, ook wel bekend als Pélion of Volos. De mislukte zakenreis werd op die manier netjes omgebogen tot een schitterende wandelvakantie. Het verhaal Vertrekpunt van onze trip is Volos, de stad die onlosmakelijk ver- Zelfs in mei kan het in Griekenland al behoorlijk warm zijn. From the beginning, the approach of the issue pointed out the immediate need of its digital geometric documentation. In this context, a complete cartographic background of the rail journey of the little train of Pelion and the wider region was created. The Digital Terrain Model (DTM) of the entire region was first created and then followed the ortho resampling of aerial photos that covered the area of interest. In addition to the photographic documentation of all viaducts, high masonry overpasses and stations of the railway and finding related information of historical and technical interest, there has been the survey, the photogrammetrical documentation and 3D visual representation of two worthy examples of engineering work. The development of a multimedia project took place in order to manage and publicise a great amount of data related to the documentation of the rail journey of the little train of Pelion. 1.
