Supply of Livestock for Korban 2017 SINGAPORE MOSQUES KORBAN COMMITTEE JKMS Secretariat Centre, Singapore Islamic Hub 273 Braddell Road, Singapore 579702 Tel: 63591408 Fax: 62537572 email: [email protected] MEDIA STATEMENT SUPPLY OF LIVESTOCK FOR KORBAN 2017 The Singapore Mosques Korban Committee (JKMS) is happy to announce that a total of 3,700 livestock will be offered for Korban this year from Australia. The community will also be able to perform Korban at 25 mosques this year. Registration for Korban 2. Registration for Korban 2017 opens on Tuesday, 11 July 2017 and will close 15 Aug 2017, subject to availability on a first-come first-serve basis. Members of the public who wish to perform Korban can register their intent and submit their particulars at the 25 listed mosques (see Annex A) for orders of livestock. Hardcopy forms are available at all 25 mosques from Tuesday, 11 July 2017. Forms can also be downloaded from www.bigfoot-groups.com/korban2017 Pricing 3. The price of each sheep supplied by the Approved Korban Vendor (AKV) for 2017 for each Australian sheep is set at $485.00, which is $5.00 less than the price in 2016. Animal Welfare and Public Health Standards 4. JKMS continues to work with the Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) to explore the most suitable sources that meet the highest criteria of Singapore’s food safety, animal health and veterinary public health standards. 5. This year Big Foot Logistic Pte Ltd as the Approved Korban Vendor (AKV) will import from AVA-approved sources from Australia. JKMS decided that this was the most cost effective and best possible option for Korban 2017. 6. Korban using Australian sheep will be conducted at all mosques1 that meet the requirements of Australia’s Exporter Supply Chain Assurance System (ESCAS)2 regulatory framework. All Korban centres will adopt the same standard operating procedures for Korban operations, which includes transporting, handling and slaughtering of livestock. JAWATANKUASA KORBAN MASJID-MASJID DI SINGAPURA (JKMS) SINGAPORE MOSQUES KORBAN COMMITTEE 1 In addition to the 25 mosques, 2 Malay/Muslim Organisations will continue to offer Australian sheep this year. The full list of korban centres is at Annex A 2 ESCAS is a regulatory framework implemented by the Australian Government in 2012 to ensure that livestock exported from Australia to different countries are treated in accordance to the World Organisation for Animal Health’s (OIE) internationally accepted animal welfare standards. To comply, the Australian exporter must provide a report from an independent and internationally accredited auditor to certify that livestock to be exported meet the standards required from the farm to the point of slaughter. MUI/MO/2 DID : 6359 1180 FAX: 6252 3235 MOSQUE CIRCULAR 014/08 27 November 2008 Chairman/Secretary Mosque Management Board Assalamualaikum wr wb Dear Sir UNIQUE ENTITY NUMBER FOR MOSQUES May you and your Board members and staff be in good health and continue to be showered with Allah SWT blessings. 2 The Singapore Government will introduce the Unique Entity Number (UEN) for registered entities on 1 January 2009 and mosques will be one of those issued with a UEN 3 UEN shall be for registered entities as NRIC is for Singapore citizens. The UEN uniquely identifies the mosque. Mosques will enjoy the convenience of having a single identification number for interaction with the Government, such as submitting their employees’ CPF contributions. 4 The list of UEN numbers for each mosque is attached in Annexe A. In situations where mosques are asked to provide their Business Registration Number (BRN) or Registry of Societies number, they may use their UEN number instead. 5 From 1 January 2009, 52 government agencies such as Central Provident Fund Board (CPFB) and Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS) will use UEN to interact with entities (both over-the-counter and online interactions). All other government agencies will use UEN from 1 July 2009. 6 For more information on the list of government agencies that will be using UEN and other details, please visit www.uen.gov.sg . You can also contact Muhd Taufiq at DID: 6359 1185 or email at [email protected] . Thank you and wassalam. Yours faithfully ZAINI OSMAN HEAD (MOSQUE DEVELOPMENT) MAJLIS

  • PENDIDIKAN ISLAM DI KALANGAN MINORITAS MUSLIM NEGARA SEKULER SINGAPURA* Dr
PENDIDIKAN ISLAM DI KALANGAN MINORITAS MUSLIM NEGARA SEKULER SINGAPURA* Dr. Hj. Robert W. Hefner, The Politics of Multiculturalism: Pluralism and Citizenship in Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia, (Honolulu: University of Hawai Press, 2001).
