The Pretenders Till Stockholm The Pretenders till Stockholm ”Chrissie Hynde – en av grabbarna eller en femme fatale av rang? En provokatör eller naturkraft? Omskakande alto eller ultimat rock’n’roll-chick? Kvinna av världen eller bandledare? Varför inte allt på en gång? Ända sedan Chrissie Hynde bildade The Pretenders för trettio år sedan har hon varit en unik, frispråkig och kompromisslös artist som även varit kapabel uppvisa en ödmjukhet som går direkt till hjärtat. Första albumet ”The Pretenders” släpptes 1980. Från det kom bland annat hitsingeln ”Brass in Pocket” och sedan dess har The Pretenders släppt en mängd fullängdare. Det senaste vi hört och sett, samlingsboxen Pirate Radio, nådde den svenska publiken i slutet av 2008. Boxen inkluderar fyra skivor och en dvd, totalt mer än fem timmar med det bästa från The Pretenders karriär. Själv säger Chrissie Hynde: ”Jag knatar på. Jag tvättar varje dag, har kvar mina egna tänder och bleker inte mitt hår. Jag måste göra någonting rätt. Jag har bara ställt in två shower på trettio år. En gång när min doktor sa att jag skulle få missfall om jag fortsatte, den andra gången när han sa att mina trumhinnor skulle explodera.” År 2005 blev The Pretenders invalda i The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. Neil Young introducerade dem med följande ord om Chrissie Hynde: ”She´s a rock & roll woman. She´s got it in her heart. She´s gonna be rocking till she drops!” Ett fan kommenterade The Pretenders House Of Blues- konsert i Houston i Februari 2009: ””The Pretenders were outstanding. Played all of their hits and a fair amount of the new album. Sound was the best I”ve heard at the HOB. The guitarist is awesome. Def. a top 5 show. For her late 50”s, Chrissie still has it going.”” The Pretenders har uppträtt i Sverige ett flertal gånger. Bland annat öppnade de vid U2:s konsert på Eriksberg, Göteborg 1987. 2003 gjorde de en mäktig och bejublad spelning på Storsjöyran i Östersund.     ADAM AND THE ANTS Adam and the Ants were formed in 1977 in London, England. They existed in two incarnations. One of which lasted from 1977 until 1982 known as The Ants. This was considered their Punk era. The second incarnation known as Adam and the Ants also featured Adam Ant on vocals, but the rest of the band changed quite frequently. This would mark their shift to new wave/post-punk. They would release ten studio albums and twenty-five singles. Their hits include Stand and Deliver, Antmusic, Antrap, Prince Charming, and Kings of the Wild Frontier. Debies-Carl 2009 Abstract Every social group must establish a unique place or set of places with which to facilitate and perpetuate its way of life and social organization. However, not all groups have an equal ability to do so. Rather, much of the physical environment is designed to facilitate the needs of the economy—the needs of exchange and capital accumulation— and is not as well suited to meet the needs of people who must live in it, nor for those whose needs are otherwise at odds with this dominant spatial order. Using punk subculture as a case study, this dissertation investigates how an unconventional and marginalized group strives to manage ‘place’ in order to maintain its survival and to facilitate its way of life despite being positioned in a relatively incompatible social and physical environment. To understand the importance of ‘place’—a physical location that is also attributed with meaning—the dissertation first explores the characteristics and concerns of punk subculture. Contrary to much previous research that focuses on music, style, and self-indulgence, what emerged from the data was that punk is most adequately described in terms of a general set of concerns and collective interests: individualism, community, egalitarianism, antiauthoritarianism, and a do-it-yourself ethic.
