02 45 ITW Will Stevens (GBR) – (in English) “I’m Will Stevens, I race in and I’m currently 4 th in the championship ...”.

02 48 Will Stevens, 20 years old, races for Fortec Motorsport, one of the major teams in this championship. Already author of 3 pole positions, 3 podiums and 1 victory this year, the young Englishman started by the karting, like the majority of other drivers racing against him.

03 08 ITW Will Stevens (GBR) – Fortec Motorsport (in English) “We had a very successful karting career, which started in England in 2004, where I won the British championship, and after out in Europe where I won the European championship. I started the Formula Renault in 2009 with Fortec in FR UK, I finished 6 th , but it wasn’t too bad, it was a really tough year, with good drivers in it. We continued in FR UK last year but we had few problems so we get back in the championship in 4 th position, but it was quite good, I show a good performance and we thought it was time to get back in Europe and I’ve shown very good passages here. But now, we’re back in England, we got car experience and we should have a good week end, I hope ...”.

04 03 Considered in the last couple of years as the rising star of motorsport in UK and contracted by F1, Will’s career unfortunately slowed down for many reasons, explanation:

04 20 ITW Will Stevens (GBR) – Fortec Motorsport (in English) “With the Brawn GP Formula 1 team, it was a really good experience , and to be taken by Brawn GP was a good thing for me because it was a car contract. But the direction changes after this into Mercedes GP and a lot of people have been changed, and our adventure finished up. Now we are back and all continues ...”.

04 51 His target for 2011 is to win the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 championship, which will serve as a platform to take up Will to Formula Renault 3.5 in 2012. This success story could continue with Fortec Motorsport, also involved in this serie.

05 19 started at the front of the grid on his home circuit. Lynn seemed perfectly at ease and got away well to lead ahead of Frijns, who also started strongly from the second row and launched an unstoppable charge to take first place from the British youngster.

05 33 Paul-Loup Chatin occupied third place at this stage, followed by Felix Serralles and . Weckström and Sainz Jr. were the first lap’s biggest losers, slipping down to sixth and ninth place respectively.

05 44 It remained tight at the front of the pack all the way to the chequered flag, but it was Frijns who eventually emerged victorious for his fourth win of the season. Lynn and Chatin came home in second and third respectively, and the pair enjoyed podium finishes for the first time this season. The win caps a perfect weekend for Frijns in the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0. He extends his lead over Carlos Sainz Jr.

Actually the whole race, I was concentrated on the exits of the corners, to avid mistakes. Which I did, so I managed to keep him behind me, and won my second race of the week-end.

07 03 The first twist of the Race 1 came as early as the formation lap, with Jean-Eric Vergne unable to get away in first gear. As a result, the Frenchman started the race from the pits at the back of the field, and could only watch on as Wickens made the perfect start. The Marussia reserve driver led in the early stages ahead of Rossi, Ricciardo, Berthon, Costa and debutant .

While Rossi piled the pressure on race leader Wickens, an equally intriguing battle for fourth place was shaping up between Berthon and Costa. The Spaniard chanced his luck several times, but was unable to find an opening.

07 37 With ten minutes to go, Ricciardo launched a surprise attack on Rossi and succeeded in snatching second place. He then set his sights on race leader Wickens, but the gap between the pair by this stage was too great. Ricciardo refused to give up and even managed to record the fastest lap of the race in the latter stages, but Wickens held his nerve to take the chequered flag. It was the Canadian’s third race victory of the season, and he came home in front of Ricciardo and Rossi.

08 34 Jingle ‘’FORMULA RENAULT 3.5 – TEAM LIFE’’ Feature ‘’TEAM LIFE’’ behind the scenes of P1 Motorsport home team

08 38 Since 1990, P1 Motorsport became one of the reference on the high level single sitter championships. First in British Formula 3 and since 2007 in the World Series by Renault. Racing in Silverstone for its home race, the team based in Wymondham, runs two cars for Austrian Walter Grübmuller and Russian Daniil Move, who reminds us the origins of his team, founded by Roly Vincini, a former Brabham and Engineer, 21 years ago.

08 59 ITW Daniil Move (in English) This team was mainly based around him…What is nice, you know, Roly is really, I have to say, really mad about perfectionism…He wants to “perfectialize” (improve) everything, it all has to be perfect. At the beginning the guys were surprised, like “Come on, we are doing the work for nothing”. But then they understood it works, and it’s nice. Now unfortunately Roly feels bad, but I think he will come back and even if it was him at the beginning now everybody is a key person in the team and it’s nice…

09 29 This season, things didn’t exactly match with the plans, and because of a lot of bad luck, the team had a difficult beginning. It doesn’t change the fact that P1 is one of the references in Formula Renault 3.5, with a nice, structured and very competent crew dedicated to it’s job : winning as much races as possible. Let’s discover it with the French engineer of the team.

Renault Sport Technologies Tél. : +33 (0)1 76 82 82 00 Z.A. Courtaboeuf Fax. : 33 (0)1 76 82 83 75 14, avenue des Tropiques Internet : www.renault-sport.com 91 978 Courtaboeuf Cedex - France

09 41 ITW Philippe GAUTHERON – Track Engineer (in French) P1 is one of the best structured teams in the Formula Renault 3.5 paddock, we have two mechanics for each of our cars, plus an assistant who takes care of the tires and the fuel. In addition, we have a data engineer who downloads the datas from the cars, and makes all the configurations, and checks if we don’t have any problem on the cars. One track engineer for each car, and finally, we have a chef mechanic for the coordination, a general assistant who helps for anything we need concerning tires and fuel.

10 16 But the role of the technical team is not only servicing the car, supporting the drivers is also a big part of the job. In motorsport, we often talk about the balance of the chassis, the power of the engines and the efficiency of the tires, but never forgetting that the human, driving the car is the key of everything…

10 26 ITW Philippe GAUTHERON – Track Engineer (in French) I will not tell you all the secrets, but of course this is a very important part of the job. It is one of the aspects on which I work a lot personally jointly with my engineer task, I’m part of a program in France in order to prepare young drivers… And it is one of the main aspects we work on in this program. That is how you can understand how a driver can evolve, on one season, or between two seasons. The mental aspect has a big part in the performance … Let’s say 70 to 80 %...

11 21 Jean-Eric Vergne made a good start to but it was Robert Wickens the poleman who led as they went into the first turn. Behind the Carlin pair, Nathanael Berthon did not enjoy the best of starts and was overtaken by and Albert Costa.

11 35 Vergne and Ricciardo made their stops at the same time, with the Australian Ricciardo rejoining the race ahead of France’s Vergne. The two drivers were then involved in a heated but fair battle for position.

11 52 However, Berthon – the last driver to pit – rejoined the race behind team-mate Ricciardo, snatching fourth place from under Vergne’s nose in the process.

12 01 The race order remained unchanged, and Wickens took the chequered flag for his fourth victory of the season. The impressive win stretches Wickens’ lead at the top of the championship standings, and secures a first Formula Renault 3.5 Series Teams title for Carlin on home soil.

12 59 The Formula Renault 3.5 will reach a climax in 2012 using the new car designed and developed by Renault Sport. Fans, drivers and teams were able to see the car up-close for the first time at Silverstone. The new Formula Renault 3.5, more modern and efficient than the current model, will be used in the World Series by Renault next season. Its concept has a lot of common points with Formula 1 philosophy.

13 15 ITW Benoit Dupont (in French) There was a big evolution in 2005, when the car got involved in the World Series by Renault. In 2008 we changed the bodywork structure and the aerodynamics of the car. And now we change the engine and the rear axel, so this car had an hundred per cent evolution since 2005, in order to stay as close as possible to the Formula 1 evolutions, and to the driver’s expectations. The first big evolution is of course the aerodynamics, we have new wings, at the front and in the back we gained 34 per cent of downforce… With also a DRS (Drag Reduction System) as we can see in F1, this will give the drivers the opportunity to understand the system and get used to it, and have more performance in general. They will be better prepared to what is asked to a driver nowadays. The other main evolution is the engine, which develops now 530 hps so 50 more than the previous one. The gearbox has also evolved slightly, with a new paddle system. All that allowed us to improve the level of performance, also because the car is 15 kilos lighter, we have a lot more efficient car.

14 31 The new car boasts a V8 530 bhp engine and an unladen weight of 610 kg – It is currently in its development phase and recently beat the lap record at Motorland Aragón by 2.6 seconds. Even if the development stage and the test program is not fully completed at the moment, the results are really promising.

Renault Sport Technologies Tél. : +33 (0)1 76 82 82 00 Z.A. Courtaboeuf Fax. : 33 (0)1 76 82 83 75 14, avenue des Tropiques Internet : www.renault-sport.com 91 978 Courtaboeuf Cedex - France

14 47 ITW François Champod (in French) We are in the good timing, the development program is in its last phase, we already tested 5 times out of 6 scheduled sessions, three different tracks, with three different drivers, such as , and Ben Hanley, we are more or less two seconds faster on a 4 kilometer track compared to the previous Formula Renault 3.5, it’s the best we could expect. But we also try to give the car a style and provide the driver a lot more features as close as possible to the current Formula 1 concept.

15 23 And what about being behind the wheel? Is the new version of the 3.5 Formula very different from the previous one? That’s the question to Romain Grosjean, leader of the GP2 championship, and driving the car for its first public appearance in Silverstone…

15 33 ITW Romain Grosjean (in French) The car is very nice to drive, if you look at the times, it’s a lot faster than the old one, which is really great for the drivers. And we have also a lot of features, that give a lot of work to the drivers, for instance the DRS which will give more opportunities for the overtaking manoeuvre.

16 12 In addition to the competition on track, the World Series by Renault offers to the spectators on site an outstanding opportunity to discover the universe of Renault. Racing History, Formula 1, Simulators, kid games, but also a very large range of activities and novelties.

16 27 ITW Jeremy Townsend (in English) It’s a big event for us as well, over the two days we hope to get about 100.000 people to come, so it’s a major event for us, and a major opportunity to expose Renault to new customers, but also to give something back to existing customers as well.

16 43 Racing Fans, but not only : the Renault Sport Village is open to the whole family. A lot of new features, including the opportunity to buy a F1 souvenir.

16 52 ITW Jeremy Townsend (in English) It’s a bit different for this year, we’ve enlarged the merchandise section, last year we had a couple of different sites, but this year we only made one much bigger, with a lot of choice : we’ve got Red Bull, Lotus Renault. Our aim is to sell 100.000 pounds worth of merchandising over the two days.

17 13 Of course, Renault presents also his full range of cars, with news models like the Monaco Special Series or the new Scenic… But not only :

17 23 ITW Jeremy Townsend (in English) We’ve increased our conversion program, approved converters, and we’ve got a selection of converters here, from disabled access vehicles, to taxis, also refrigerated vans, the whole range of conversions, and we’ve involved the converters as well in the display so they brought their own vehicles with their own specialist staff to be ought to speak to the members of the public because obviously the converters is a very specialized market.

17 46 Static exhibitions, but not only, action and demonstrations are also everywhere, speed and safety are both part of the program.

17 55 ITW Jeremy Townsend (in English) It’s a dramatic demonstration of the Electronic Stability Control System, so it’s a bit of fun, with some dramatic driving but also a safety element to it, and then we try to teach people about the benefit of the ESC, the Electronic Stability Control. People understand they have that on their car, but they don’t understand how it works, so with this, in a very safe controlled environment we can give a bit of fun but also teach them the benefits of the system.

Last year we did a test drive event where we had 500 test drives, but we wanted to improve the quality of the test drives, so this time we’ve actually charged the customers for the test drives, so we think we’ll do a lower number, we will do about 350. But we have a better quality and more serious customers who actually really want to have a go in it . And I think over the two days we’ll do about 350 test drives.

18 57 ITW Jeremy Townsend (in English) That’s part of the passion of the week-end given to the owners : not only they came along and the could demonstrate their cars and display them, but they also get a go on the circuit, so only World Series can offer that : a lap around the Grand Prix circuit of Silverstone is something that everybody will enjoy.

19 51 The race order continued to change before the end of the first lap, with Nalio passing Schothorst to move into first place, and Comini fighting his way back into third.

19 59 Schothorst defended bravely and held off Comini’s challenge but the Dutchman slowed suddenly following a problem with his accelerator pedal, and Comini grabbed the opportunity to pass.

20 08 Comini made his stop before team-mate and race leader Nalio, who delayed his stop for a lap and retained first place when he eventually returned to the track. Comini and Nalio continued to race wheel-to-wheel, and the pair managed to build a lead over Fabien Thuner in third place.
