Small brass bell inscribed "HMNZS ARABIS", complete with clapper and rope. This bell was used as a font in the Chapel On loan to Officers of Saint Christopher for many years and has the names of ARABIS Medium RNZN Museum Flower Class Corvette Training School children christened when the bell was in use in this manner. It is unlikely that the clapper and bell rope are those originally in use on board the ship.

Medium size chromed bell inscribed "HMNZS HAWEA" and used on the Loch class frigate of the name. A replica of the HAWEA (Not Dated) Medium RNZN Museum ship's bell was cast and presented to the RSA in Westport after the 1951 strike. No names inscribed inside rim.

Small brass bell marked "H.M.M.G.B. 703". From a motor gun boat. Removed from vessel when it was broken up in Tuff Brothers yard on the Thames after the war by Mr Alan HMMGB 703 Small RNZN Museum MGB 703 Owens, the accountant for the firm, who in turn gave it to Mrs Bull when they both lived in Sydney. Lieutenant C.J.Wright DSC RNZNVR was in command of this vessel during 1944-45 HMMTB 772 Small RNZN Museum and won the DSC in this period. When the vessel paid off Lt Wright is reputed to have said that Commanding Officers could take small mementos. Forms part of Personal Collection EZW 0024.

Presented to RNZN by Admiralty Aug 60. TS NIMROD Sea Cadet Obtained in belief that it Reserve Fleet Accounting NEPTUNE Unit came from cruiser. Unit, Chatham Presented Jul 68, Engraved TS NIMROD Ship's bell (for quarterdeck), impressed with "HMS New Zealand 1905" and inscribed "To H.M.S. New Zealand by the school children of her namesake colony - 1905". The bell was gifted to the original HMS New Zealand in 1905. Children were encouraged to raise funds towards the new ship bearing their country's name. They started penny trails and it is believed these coins were melted down and added to the metal used to cast the bell. The first ship was Invincible Class Battle NEW ZEALAND 1905 Large RNZN Museum renamed Zealandia in 1911 when NZ purchased a battle Cruiser cruiser to bear the country's name. The bell was transferred to HMS New Zealand upon its commissioning in 1912, partly due to the efforts of Commander R.C. Davenport who was aboard both the Zealandia and HMS NZ [see documentation]. Was originally hung from a copper Maori head. Bell has a large crack which has been repaired. Maori decorative design has been partially worn away due to polishing. A clapper is stored separately from the bell.

A replica of the ship's chromed bell was cast and presented to the Dunedin City Council before the ship paid off.

Brass ship's bell with ringer and knotted nylon pull, from HMNZS RESOLUTION. Comes with brass bracket for hanging. 'Resolution' is stamped into a plaque attached to RESOLUTION EX USNS the front of the bell. At the rear the letters 'U.S.' are TENACIOUS stamped directly into the bell, presumably from when it was a US Navy ship, TENACIOUS. The inside rim of the bell is engraved with the names of children christened onboard the ship during the RNZN years.

EPNS Water Jug presented in exchange Chrome plated working bell from the Inshore Survey Vessel HMNZS Takapu (A 07). The bell is said to have been discovered by a member of the public in shrubbery at a park in New Plymouth (date unknown). The bell was passed for return to the Naval Museum by a member of the public via the Officer of the Day in HMNZS Canterbury when the TAKAPU ship visited New Plymouth in April 2000. It is believed that this bell was the working bell which was mounted on the front screen of the vessel as there are no names inside the rim. (At an inspection of the vessel carried out by myself in March of this year it was noticed that this bell was missing). The bell has many imperfections to the surface and the bell rope is missing.

Its size (too large) would indicate that it is not from Minesweeping Trawler until 1988 the minesweeper of 1927 and most likely cast in the Dockyard during the early 1950s. No clapper or bell rope. Brass Bell with an anchor wall bracket engraved HMNZS WELLINGTON at the top with AFT PO'S RECOMMISSIONING 1986 underneath with the Ranks and Names of the Mess Members at that time. The rear of the bell in engraved with WELLINGTON (R) the Rank and names of the mess members 1987. Complete with clapper and bell rope in white nylon in macrami. Passed to the museum by the mess members when the vessel decommissioned 1999.
