This bell was used as a font in the Chapel On loan to Officers of Saint Christopher for many years and has the names of ARABIS Medium RNZN Museum Flower Class Corvette Training School children christened when the bell was in use in this manner. It is unlikely that the clapper and bell rope are those originally in use on board the ship. Presented 1968. Nickle plated. Crack around rim. Presented Jul 68. Also HAWEA Medium Dunedin TS WAIREKA Loch Class Frigate engraved NLTS WAIREKA Presented by Cdre JAB HAWEA Small Invercargill City Lewis on 50th Anniversary Lake Class Patrol Craft RNZN Sep 91 Medium size chromed bell inscribed "HMNZS HAWEA" and used on the Loch class frigate of the name. A replica of the HAWEA (Not Dated) Medium RNZN Museum ship's bell was cast and presented to the RSA in Westport after the 1951 strike. No names inscribed inside rim. Small brass bell marked "H.M.M.G.B. 703". From a motor gun boat. Removed from vessel when it was broken up in Tuff Brothers yard on the Thames after the war by Mr Alan HMMGB 703 Small RNZN Museum MGB 703 Owens, the accountant for the firm, who in turn gave it to Mrs Bull when they both lived in Sydney. No names engraved inside rim. Small brass bell comes with /w hanging bracket and clapper. Marked "H.M.M.T.B. 772". Lieutenant C.J.Wright DSC RNZNVR was in command of this vessel during 1944-45 HMMTB 772 Small RNZN Museum and won the DSC in this period. When the vessel paid off Lt Wright is reputed to have said that Commanding Officers could take small mementos. Forms part of Personal Collection EZW 0024. Engraved with 'INVERELL 1942' No names inscribed Minesweeper inside rim. Bell from HMNZS IRIRANGI. Brass with red painted top and lettering. The underside of the rim has been inscribed with IRIRANGI RNZN Museum the names of the children christened on board the ship. See 'documentation' window for a link to the file listing all the names. Brass bell HMS JAMES COSGROVE 1918 (inscription painted red), there is the number '4' inscribed on the bracket head. The bell comes with a clapper and is attached to a wall Trawler (Minesweeper JAMES COSGROVE 1918 Small RNZN HMNZS OLPHERT mount. The internal is painted red, no engraving on the To OLPHERT Mar 56 WW II) rim. No bell rope. To be retained by HMNZS OLPHERT, if no longer required the bell is to be returned to the National Museum of the Royal New Zealand Navy. The inside edge of the rim is inscribed with the Bathurst Class KIAMA Medium RNZN Museum names of the children who where christened on board ship.
