I found an expired listing (no sale) on ebay of a 1968 Mercury Cougar XR7-G in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Not familiar with that model, I began to research and found out it was a very limited production car built on the same line, and likely by the same folks that built my GT350, only a few months earlier. Well, it was just meant to be in my garage. I negotiated with the owner over several weeks, a lot of photos were transferred during our discussions – was even able to talk with previous owners. We struck a deal just before it was placed in into winter storage (a lot of early snow falls in Alberta). I had it shipped and delivered. It is a bit more challenging to transport a car across an international border but my shipper handled the task well. TW: So how long have you had it; will you show it, cruise with it, or will you take it to work on nice days? MK: I’ve owned the car since October 2015 and it is primarily a show and cruise car. Not likely ever to see it at Kroger’s. TW: What about it is original or what has been changed from how it came from the factory? MK: This car is restored and with all factory components. There have been no modifications performed. There is constant tweaking as I learn more about XR7-Gs but, it is stock. Ads for the Cougar TW: You’ve mentioned that you work at Ford.
