The original production opened on Broadway in 1927, played at the Curran in San Francisco in 1928, and was made into a Hollywood film in 1947 which starred June Allyson and Peter Lawford. This delightful comedy by Laurence Schwab and B. G. DeSylva with Music by Ray Henderson, Lyrics by B. G. DeSylva and Lew Brown, was later revived and rewritten to star Alice Faye, John Payne and Stubby Kaye in a special road show version. The score had several hit songs including "Varsity Drag," "The Best Things in Life Are Free," "Lucky In Love," and the title song. Applications for Production Staff personnel are currently being accepted. For additional information, please call the Producer, Edward Hand, at (408) 356-7340. ROBERT GIBBS (Curly) This is Bob's fifth show with WVLO, his third "on stage." In productions of "Rose Marie" and "South Pacific," he played leading roles, then became Choral Director for "Camelot," and made headlines for our last production, "Brigadoon." This time he combines his vocal talents and directing abilities by acting both 'on stage' as Curly and "in the pit" as Musical Director. He has performed in "Oklahoma!" before as well as a number of other appear- ances with the King Family, Hayward Symphony and "The Overtures" and "Footliters." We hope to see more of Bob in the future both on and off the stage. ROBERT P BERGMAN *(Curly) This Bob makes his debut with our Association and brings a long list of theatrical credits; among them leading roles in "West Side Story," "Irene," "1776," "Damn Yankees," "Oliver," "HMS Pinafore," "Anything Goes," "Annie Get Your Gun," and several others. He recently graduated from the University of Santa Clara's Law School and in addition to his legal profes- sion has aspirations of directing in the future. VIVIAN C. ALBRECHT (Laurey) A resident of Half Moon Bay, Vivian is also making her debut with this production. She has an extensive background in theater including por- trayals of Laurey, Julie Jordon in "Carousel," Hodel in "Fiddler on the Roof" and Annie Sullivan in "Miracle Worker." Vivian studied directing at USC and has directed both musicals and dramas. She is studying voice at the Peninsula Conservatory of Music and still manages time for her hus- band and two children. We are happy to have Vivian commute so far to share her talents with us. MICHELLE D. FERCHAU*(Laurey) A newcomer to our stage, Michelle is quite a veteran in theater. She began her career at 14 in the title role of "Gypsy" and has since been seen in leading roles in "Robin Hood," "Anything Goes," "Bye, Bye Birdie," and "Godspell." She sang with a 10-piece jazz group, "Mainsqueeze," for four years and has been married "... for 2'/2 wonderful years to a trumpet player named Charlie." She is involved in various Church activities in her spare time. HOWARD GRAY (Will Parker) A Freshman in Combined Sciences at the University of Santa Clara, Howard is taking time to make his debut with WVLO in this production. He has appeared in "Oklahoma" before as well as leading roles in "Music Man," "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown," and "Harvey." He loves music, has been playing the piano for 12years and even though he plans to attend Med School, he will stay involved with theater in some way. We will always be glad to have Howard's energy and talent in our productions. DEE DEE BROWN (Ado Annie) You may not have seen Dee Dee on stage in "My Fair Lady," but you saw her creative talents on stage in the costumes which later won her an award. Even though she has worked with us before, this does mark her debut as a performer.
