Achievements in Career

1. Successfully managed Central computer Facility of CET for more than 10 years

2. Due to my strong efforts and by the support of higher officials I could conduct more than 10 Nos. of orientation programs for the Engineering students belong socially, economically and educationally backward classes , in Trivandrum district under the sponsorship of TEQIP, PTA etc. In that programme, all the students had been provided with course materials, light refreshments, bus facilities etc. Professors, Qualified Lab staff , M Tech students, Academically excelling B Tech final year students were the tutors of this training programme without accepting any remuneration.

More than 40 students who attended the programs got placements in reputed companies (IOC, MRF, ITC, Infosys, Accenture, TCS, CTS etc) in the year 2011. In addition, one student got admission in IIM Culcutta, one got admission in IIT Kanpur and 3 nos. of students got admission in NITs. In 2012, more than 30 students got placements in reputed companies. More than 10 students qualified for admission to M Tech programs.

Based on the above result, has started such programs in all Government Engineering colleges by accepting the orientation programs in CET as a model by naming the program “OPES under STEP4U”. An amount of Rs 2.5 Crore has been sanctioned from SC/ST development fund for the said program. In that, Rs 1.25 Crore has been spent to SC and ST students in CET to support their studies. Through the sponsorship all the SC and ST students have been provided with course materials. All the SC and ST students, who had stayed in outside hostel by paying rent, have been provided with accommodation charges. All the day scholar students who belong to SC and ST community have been provided with travelling allowances. All the students , irrespective of cast who had attended the programmes have been provided with refreshments. All the tutors irrespective of students and teachers, have been provided with honorarium for engaging classes. The programme could develop motivation to weaker students to improve their academics. Also the programme gave motivation to academically excelling students to develop their skill for presentation and teaching, which helped them to acquire jobs in reputed organizations like IOC, BPCL, ONGC etc as well as helped them to acquire admissions for higher studies in institutions like

IITs and NITs. I could reduce the failure rate of SC and ST students considerably by these training programs.

In 2016 the funding from the Government was stopped. But due to my special interest and dedicated efforts, the same has been continuing by the sponsorship of Rs25000/- from PTA per year, only to provide refreshments for the students who are attending orientation classes.

In 2018, 2019 and 2020, with the special interest from the Principal I have also initiated orientation programmes exclusively for Lateral entry students. These programme are now continuing . The are also helping many LE students to build their confidence for passing examinations.

Still, I am maintaining good relations with all the students who had attended OPES since 2007. Some among them who had been employed in reputed institutions are voluntarily helping poor students in CET with my request and recommendations. I believe that God has given me the opportunity to uplift many students, especially from financially poor backgrounds, through such orientation programmes.

3. Guided more than 13 B Tech Projects and 12 M Tech thesises. Also evaluated more than 30 Nos. of M Tech thesis in MG, University of Kerala and Dr. Abdul Kalam Technologcal University.

4. Published 20 technical papers

5. Successfully carried out Traffic Management system during the visit by The President of India, Sri. Pranab Mugharji to inaugurate Patinum Jubilee Celebrations of College of Engineering Trivandrum

6. Participated the address and interactive session of Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam with students and teachers in College of Engineering Trivandrum

7. Associated with all the Heads of Departments, Principals in CET and all the Directors of Technical Education since 2000 in various students welfare activities.

8. Established a Computer centre at CET, exclusively for girls, at Ladies hostel , with the sponsorship of Rs 36.47 Lakhs from SCDD, f Government of Kerala.

9. Acquired PhD from CUSAT, under the supervision of Dr. Narayanan at Dept. of Ship Technology.

10. I have been maintaining a good relationship with all the Principals, all the department heads, Staff advisors in all the departments since 2007.

11. I have been maintaining a good relationship with all the Directors of Technical Education since 2010 to till date.

12. Could help various NGOs and NSS volunteers for flood relief activities in Kerala.

Major strengths:

1. Hardworking, Dedicated, Willing to motivate and help poor students, Ready to take permitted risks for the welfare of students from socially, economically and educationally backward classes

Major Weaknesses:

1. Slightly short-tempered, Find very difficult to manage personal matters within the time available. Cannot say “no” to deserving students who need any type of help for their academic activities.
