Public consultation starting on three SLDC Local Plan documents

South Lakeland District Council is currently working to prepare:  a Development Management Policies Development Plan Document (DPD)  an and Silverdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) Development Plan Document (DPD)  a revised Statement of Community Involvement (SCI).

Separate public consultations relating to all three of these documents run from Friday 6 November 2015 to 5pm Friday 18 December 2015.

Development Management Policies DPD

This document applies across the District outside the National Parks. It will provide detailed policies that will be used in the determination of planning applications, and help manage and shape new development.

We are seeking your views on an Issues and Options Discussion Paper that:  Identifies policy areas that may require development management policies;  Suggests various options to policy direction in respect to these policy areas;  Identifies potential impacts in terms of need for additional evidence, taking into account viability implications.

AONB Development Plan Document (DPD)

We are working jointly with Lancaster City Council to prepare this document, which applies to the Arnside & Silverdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The document will identify sites for new housing and employment to meet local needs and will set out planning policies to ensure that development reflects the AONB designation.

We are seeking your views on the issues that the DPD will need to address and the options for doing so, as well as a series of maps setting out site options suggested to us for consideration for development or protection.

Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) Review

We are refreshing the existing SCI, which sets out how and when we will engage with the community and other key stakeholders when we prepare and revise Local Plan documents. It also explains how the community will be consulted on planning applications.

We are seeking your views on the Draft Revised SCI.

The Draft Revised SCI can be viewed online www.southlakeland.gov.uk/consultations and at the following locations during normal opening hours:
