Queensland Junior Cricket Inc 2014/15 Intra-State Championships Queensland Junior Cricket Inc 2014/15 Intra-State Championships 15-19 December 2014 Under 12 Toowoomba Under 13 Cairns Under 14 Mackay Under 15 Townsville Under 16 Brisbane North PROUDLY SUPPORTED BY KOOKABURRA SPORTS President's Message Welcome to the 2014 QJC Intra-State championships. This year 60 teams are involved in age groups ranging from Under 12 through to Under 16 and geographically from one end of Queensland to the other. The Under 12’s are being hosted by Darling Downs and South West Queensland in Toowoomba. Under 13’s are being hosted by Cairns Cricket in Cairns, while the Under 14’s are being hosted by Mackay Whitsunday in Mackay. Townsville Cricket is hosting the Under 15 teams and Brisbane North host the Under 16 teams at Brisbane Grammar Northgate Complex in Brisbane. On behalf of QJC I would like to sincerely thank all the people around the state who are involved in hosting the championships. The championships could not continue without your effort and support. I know you will get great satisfaction in helping to develop our best young players both on and off the cricket fields over the next five days. I would also like to acknowledge the contributions of all the coaches, managers, scorers and parents, whose efforts contribute so much to the success of the championships. Most of these people give up a large part of their annual leave to be involved and your effort and dedication is very much appreciated by your Associations and Queensland Junior Cricket. I also need to thank Kookaburra Sporting Goods for their generous contribution to this week of cricket. This is the second year that Kookaburra have provided cricket balls free of charge and over three hundred cricket balls are used with an equivalent dollar value of around $12,000. This is an enormous contribution and QJC requests that you consider Kookaburra when purchasing balls and other cricket equipment in the future. To the parents – a special thanks, as you provide the funds to allow the players to take part in this week of cricket. Please be assured that QJC is doing everything in our power to restrain costs, but we need to balance cost, while still providing centres that have adequate facilities to stage this week of cricket. Finally to the players – we wish you every success. Play the game hard, but play fair and show respect to fellow players both on and off the field. We have had some behaviour issues both on and off the field in the past two years and it needs to stop. I will be instructing our QJC Representatives in each centre to ensure good behaviour is maintained and any issues will be dealt with – whether it is committed by a player or official. Please travel safely on your return journeys and have a Merry Xmas and a Happy, Safe and Prosperous New Year. Best wishes, George Watkin QJC President 1 UNDER 12 DRAW Round 1 Round 2 Round 3 BN v CQ BN v MW BN v FN MSW v MW CQ v FN MW v BEARS SEQ v FN MSW v BEARS CQ v GC NQ v BEARS SEQ v GC MSW v SC WB v GC • Through Adversity to the Stars a Majestic Season
THE GENT No.170 October 2020 Through adversity to the stars A majestic season Season’s summary Around the circuit Averages and career Top 20s Planning for 2021 Match reports: Bricklayer’s Arms (won by 5 wickets) Winchmore Hill Tigers (won by 42 runs) Squirrels (lost 1 wicket) Millfields (won by 137 runs) Holtwhites Trinibis (won by 3 wickets) Salix (won 4 wickets) Read about the Gents on www.gowlcc.org Contact this magazine via email [email protected] Around the circuit Season’s end is traditionally time to assemble an opposition XI of the year but that is rather difficult when only eleven games were played. Instead we praise two of the most friendly, committed, and best organised sides on the circuit; Bricklayer’s Arms (who played 16 games) and Battersea Eagles (17). Eagles played three midweek and Brick four. Brick’s season ended with a defeat to Khukuri, a team of rather talented Nepalese Gurkhas from Hounslow, several of whom are Brick regulars. Nobody was disembowelled but poor skipper Tremain, who took 1-0-25-0 and was bowled third ball for a duck, felt as if he had been. Tigers used 33 players and had a 7-4 season after a strong finish, winning three of their last four. It is a pity that they are reluctant to travel away to play the Gents. Wycombe House 1sts and 2nds had good seasons in the Middlesex County Cricket League. There was no promotion or relegation, but Hamzah Khan’s young 1sts, average age 22, were a point off the top in late August before their form fell away after they were docked 12 points for a dangerous pitch when, after eight overs, their game with Eastcote had to be abandoned.

SUNDAY, APRIL 3, 2016 SPORTS Explosive Windies face fearless England in finale KOLKATA: West Indies’ rag-tag army of short- format mercenaries will be hoping they have the weapons to overcome a fearless England in today’s World Twenty20 final as both sides target the honour of being the first to claim a second title in the tournament. For a group of players who nearly boycotted the event over a contractual dispute with their board, Darren Sammy and his troops have waltzed into the Kolkata final displaying all the Caribbean flair that has earned them global admiration. If Twenty20 cricket is essentially about power-hitting, no team does it better and more unabashedly than the West Indies. England have first-hand knowledge of that destructive potency, having been blown away by Chris Gayle’s 47-ball century in a Super 10 shellacking in Mumbai a fortnight ago. Revenge may be regarded as a dish best served cold but Eoin Morgan’s men would probably like nothing more than to exact it in the heat of a World Cup final. A task easier said than done against a West Indies outfit packed with swashbuckling players who ply their trade in lucrative Twenty20 KOLKATA: England’s cricket captain Eoin Morgan (C) with others play a game of foot- leagues around the globe. What makes the job ball during a training session at the Eden Gardens cricket stadium in Kolkata yeste- doubly difficult is that Sammy’s men have day. England play West Indies in the World T20 tournament final match today3 in proved in India that they are more than just a Kolkata.
