State Championships QUEENSLAND JUNIOR CRICKET INC 2 015 / 16 STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS 14 –18 DECEMBER UNDER 12 CAIRNS UNDER 13 GOLD COAST UNDER 14 MACKAY UNDER 15 CHARTERS TOWERS UNDER 16 BRISBANE PROUDLY SUPPORTED BY KOOKABURRA SPORTS QJC Executive President – George Watkin Vice President – Don Proctor Secretary – Ian Reeves OAM Treasurer – Dave Rockley State Convenor – Jenny Black [email protected] www.qjc.qld.cricket.com.au President's Message Welcome to the 2015 QJC Intra-State championships. This year 60 teams are involved in age groups ranging from Under 12 through to Under 16 and geographically from one end of Queensland to the other. The Under 12’s are being hosted by Cairns Cricket in Cairns. Under 13’s are being hosted by Gold Coast Cricket, while the Under 14’s are being hosted by Mackay Whitsunday in Mackay. Charters Towers Cricket is hosting the Under 15 teams and BEARS host the Under 16 teams in the Eastern Suburbs of Brisbane. On behalf of QJC I would like to sincerely thank all the people around the state who are involved in hosting the championships. The championships could not continue without your effort and support. I know you will get great satisfaction in helping to develop our best young players both on and off the cricket fields over the next five days. I would also like to acknowledge the contributions of all the coaches, managers, scorers and parents, whose efforts contribute so much to the success of the championships. This year for the first time Queensland Cricket Game Development staff will act as our QJC Representatives. It is a big commitment from QC and my thanks extend to QC Management and their staff for their efforts and support. I also need to thank Kookaburra Sporting Goods for their generous contribution to this week of cricket. This is the third year that Kookaburra have provided cricket balls free of charge and over three hundred cricket balls are used with an equivalent dollar value of around $12,000. This is an enormous contribution and QJC requests that you consider Kookaburra when purchasing balls and other cricket equipment in the future. To the parents – a special thanks, as you provide the funds to allow the players to take part in this week of cricket. Please be assured that QJC is doing everything in our power to restrain costs, but we need to balance cost, while still providing centres that have adequate facilities to stage this week of cricket. Finally to the players – we wish you every success. Play the game hard, but play fair and show respect to fellow players both on and off the field. I will be instructing our QJC Representatives in each centre to ensure good behaviour and the Spirit of Cricket is maintained - any issues will be dealt with – whether it is committed by a player or official. Please travel safely on your return journeys and have a Merry Christmas and a Happy, Safe and Prosperous New Year. Best wishes, George Watkin - President 1 UNDER 12 DRAW Round 1 Round 2 Round 3 BN v SC BN v DDSWQ BN v WB GC v DDSWQ SC v WB DDSWQ v NQ BEARS v WB GC v NQ SC v SEQ FN v NQ BEARS v SEQ GC v MSW MW v SUNDAY, APRIL 3, 2016 SPORTS Explosive Windies face fearless England in finale KOLKATA: West Indies’ rag-tag army of short- format mercenaries will be hoping they have the weapons to overcome a fearless England in today’s World Twenty20 final as both sides target the honour of being the first to claim a second title in the tournament. For a group of players who nearly boycotted the event over a contractual dispute with their board, Darren Sammy and his troops have waltzed into the Kolkata final displaying all the Caribbean flair that has earned them global admiration. If Twenty20 cricket is essentially about power-hitting, no team does it better and more unabashedly than the West Indies. England have first-hand knowledge of that destructive potency, having been blown away by Chris Gayle’s 47-ball century in a Super 10 shellacking in Mumbai a fortnight ago. Revenge may be regarded as a dish best served cold but Eoin Morgan’s men would probably like nothing more than to exact it in the heat of a World Cup final. A task easier said than done against a West Indies outfit packed with swashbuckling players who ply their trade in lucrative Twenty20 KOLKATA: England’s cricket captain Eoin Morgan (C) with others play a game of foot- leagues around the globe. What makes the job ball during a training session at the Eden Gardens cricket stadium in Kolkata yeste- doubly difficult is that Sammy’s men have day. England play West Indies in the World T20 tournament final match today3 in proved in India that they are more than just a Kolkata.
