August 25, 2016 Volume 38 Issue 16 Fairview Hospital’s 2016 Gala Headlined by Comedian Paul Reiser he 2016 Fairview Hospital Gala will feature renowned actor, comedian, writer Tand producer Paul Reiser on Saturday, September 24 at 8 p.m. at the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center in Great Barrington. Reiser, voted one of Comedy Central’s Top 100 Comedians of All Time, will return to his roots as a stand-up comedian at the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center in Great Barrington, following a cocktail Paul Reiser, acclaimed actor, comedian, and buffet reception on the Town Hall Green. The Fairview Gala is the largest writer and producer, will be the headliner fundraising event of the year for Fairview. at this year’s Fairview Hospital Gala, being held on September 24th at the Mahaiwe Having co-created and starred in the critically acclaimed NBC series Mad About Performing Arts Center in Great Barrington. While developing several television projects which he will write and produce, Reiser is currently starring in the Amazon coming-of-age series Red Oaks for producer Steven Soderbergh. Following his role in the Academy Award winning film Whiplash, and in last year's Concussion, Reiser has a full slate of films coming up. He will be seen in The Darkness, with Kevin Bacon, Devil in the Deep Blue Sea, with Jason Sudeikis and Maisie Williams, Miles, with Molly Shannon, and also in John McDonagh's War on Everyone, with Alexander Skarsgard and Michael Pena. Reiser's successes also include his books, Couplehood, which sold over two million copies and reached the number one spot on the New York Times bestseller list, as well as his follow up bestsellers Babyhood and Familyhood. Born and raised in New York City, Reiser attended the State University of New York at Binghamton where he majored in Music. Reiser co-wrote the theme song from Mad About You with Grammy-winning producer Don Was, and in 2011 released an album of original songs with British singer and songwriter Julia Fordham called Unusual Suspects. Reiser is also remembered for notable performances in films such as Diner, Bye Bye Love, the Marrying Man, Aliens, One Night at McCool’s, Beverly Hills Cop and Beverly Hills Cop II. In addition to purchasing tickets, the community can support the Gala through the purchase of an ad in the program book, underwriting or entering a drawing for a trip for two to Sorrento in April as part of Gene Dellea’s annual trips to Italy series. Drawing tickets are $100 and only three hundred will be sold. The trip includes a seven night, eight-day, all inclusive trip to Sorrento and visits to the Amalfi coast, Isle of Capris, Ravello, Montecocino, Caserta and other special places in the region. Currently, Community Infusion Services are provided at the main campus of BMC. The new unit at the BMC Cancer & Infusion Center will be built adjacent to the Hematology Oncology Infusion area on the 4th floor, and will be a separate space in order to provide confidential and expert care for Oncology and Community Infusion patients. The move is expected to be completed by September 19th. The BHS Walk-In, located inside Market 32 near its Pharmacy, will close on Friday, August 26th at 6 pm. The Clinic will remain open for its regular hours, Monday through Friday, from 10 am to 6 pm until the 26th. Berkshire Health Systems has a Walk-In Care Clinic in North Berkshire, inside Williamstown Medical Associates, and that Walk-In Care will continue to operate, open on weekdays from 10 am to 6 pm. When the BHS Walk-In in Pittsfield first opened in April of 2015, and for many months after, the site cared for an average of 50 patients per week, with a high of nearly 100 per week during peak times. Most recently, the number of patients has declined significantly, with many choosing to visit the BHS Urgent Care facility, which opened in September of 2015 on East St. and provides a greater range of services.
