For more details, see the Prime Video Packaging Summary. Delivery Methods IBM® Aspera® ensures rapid, accurate, and reliable delivery of large files. IP Whitelisting isn't required for delivery. You will be provided connection to the Prime Video delivery end- during the onboarding process.

There are two Aspera options available for transferring files to Prime Video:

• Aspera Desktop Client (requires a paid license)

• Aspera Shares web-based portal (free)

Aspera Shares enables you to deliver content via a web portal with no additional license requirements or costs.

Configuring the Aspera Desktop Client

To configure the Aspera Desktop Client for delivery to Prime Video, you must adjust the connection settings in the Aspera Connection Manager.

The username and password you received during onboarding is required. You also must enter the address for the host to which you will be delivering. Prime Video uses a DNS round robin system to manage its reception fleet. Use aivdelivery.com as the domain name in place of a static IP host in the Host address text box.

Below is a sample screenshot from the Aspera Desktop Client.

After logging in, you will see subfolders for each region:

• region_DE • region_JP • region_UK • region_US • region_GLOBAL Source assets must be delivered to the subfolder matching the distribution territory.

Using Aspera Shares for File Delivery

To use Aspera Shares, go to https://shares.aivdelivery.com and enter the username and password received during onboarding.

After logging in, you will see subfolders for each region:

• region_DE • region_JP • region_UK • region_US • region_GLOBAL

Source assets must be delivered to the subfolder matching the distribution territory.

You can send files individually by clicking Upload File or to transfer all files in a folder, click Upload Folder.

Uploading files using Aspera Shares is a manual process and can't be automated. To integrate the delivery process into your internal systems, you must purchase an Aspera Desktop Client license. Content Types Television/Episodic Content

Prime Video uses the term television to identify content that is episodic in nature. Television content is organized by series, seasons, and episodes as described below.

Series: This is the television show itself (e.g., "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel") and is the top-level distinguishing characteristic. Series are composed of one or more seasons, each with one or more episodes. It's possible to group similar, but significantly different, content under a different series (e.g., "The Best of SNL"). If you have specific questions about the best way to group titles, contact your Operations Account Manager.

Season: These are collections of individual episodes within a particular series. This is a reflection of traditional broadcast season cycles. For shows that are "non-episodic," collecting by broadcast year or production cycle (e.g., "The Daily Show") is recommended.

Episode: This is the individual title that customers see. Episodes are sequenced with other episodes in a season.

© 2018 Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates. All rights reserved. 4 Prime Video Content Guide v6.0

Example

• Series: “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” o Season: "Season 1" ▪ Episode 1: "Pilot" ▪ Episode 2: "Ya Shivu v Bolshom Dome Na Kholme" ▪ Bonus 0: "Bonus: Season 1 Official Trailer" ▪ Bonus 0: "Bonus: Season 1 Behind-the-scenes" ▪ Bonus 0: "An Inside Look at The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" Movies

Prime Video uses the term movie to identify content that is standalone. Movie isn't limited to titles with theatrical releases, specific runtimes, or a specific subject matter.

Examples of content that should be classified as movie include the :

• Feature films (exceeds 80 minutes runtime) • Short films (less than 80 minutes runtime) • Documentaries, educational, or instructional content • "Made for TV" or "Direct-to-Video" titles

Value-added Material (Bonus Content)

See the Value-added Material (VAM) packaging instructions for Classic and Global territories. Content Rights Prime Video requires content rights to be submitted in the Entertainment Merchants Association (EMA) Avails Specification. Prime Video supports EMA XLS Avails, version 1.6, 1.7.2, and 1.7.3.

Note: The maximum size of EMA 1.6, 1.7.2, and 1.7.3 avails supported by Prime Video is 60,000 rows.

The EMA Avails templates include instructions for completion. The following Prime Video rules supersede the instructions on the template:

• EntryType Rules: Only Full Extract and Full Delete submissions are accepted. • Full Extract means that new avail entries replace all current and future avail entries within the same scope. Prime Video defines scope as the unique combination of licensor, unique ID, territory, and the rights model (e.g., TVOD, SVOD, etc.). A unique ID is represented by an Alt ID in EMA v1.6 and an ALID in EMA v1.7.

• Full Extract requires that all of your current and future avail entries are provided for a scope. When Full Extract avails are submitted, Prime Video replaces all current and future avail information for a given scope. Full Extract allows a content partner to expire a license on a future date.

• Full Delete means that new avail entries delete all existing avail entries within the same scope. When Full Delete avails are submitted, Prime Video removes all avail information for a given scope. Since Full Delete indicates that all rights for a given scope are removed, if the content is already in-window, the rights are expired as of the date the Full Delete is received. Full Delete expires licenses as of the date received. Full Delete can also be used if an incorrect identifier (i.e. Alt ID) was used for an edit prior to an avail start date.

© 2018 Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates. All rights reserved. 5 Prime Video Content Guide v6.0

• Prime Video defines the rights model using both LicenseType and GroupIdentity. The LicenseType field specifies whether content is intended for TVOD or SVOD. Entries intended for TVOD never extract or delete entries intended for SVOD.

• The GroupIdentity field within EMA v1.7.3 specifies whether content is intended for first-party SVOD (Prime Video) or third-party SVOD (Prime Video Channels). Entries intended for Prime Video SVOD never extract or delete entries intended for Prime Video Channels. This also means that content partners must be mindful of all channels they deliver for when submitting Channels rights. If you have a title available in more than one Prime Video Channel in a single territory, you must include details for both titles when sending a Full Extract submission, because both Channels are within the same scope. • Language Fields: Use RFC 5646 language codes. Additionally, Prime Video supports appending :sub, :dub, :subdub, or :any after any language code to specify the type of asset associated with it. For example, if Prime Video is meant to hold back Latin American Spanish timed text in a certain territory, the associated HoldbackLanguage field should contain es-419:sub. Multiple languages can be included in all language fields; use to separate them. that the AllowedLanguage/HoldbackExclusionLanguage field and HoldbackLanguage field can't be used together. • PriceType and PriceValue: For SVOD, PriceType must be Category and PriceValue must be sub. For TVOD, WSP (Wholesale Price) must be provided for all EST/VOD titles that aren't revenue-share. For titles under revenue-share terms, the PriceType must be Category and PriceValue must be either Library or New Release. • Avails Metadata vs. Title Metadata: Descriptive title information (e.g., title, rating, director, etc.) are always be pulled from the associated title metadata submission, and not content rights. • Title Matching via Unique IDs: When used, the AltID, ALID, and ContentID (in v1.7.x) must be identical. This is how Prime Video matches content rights to asset metadata and title metadata. • Controlled Codes: Prime Video accepts a number of controlled codes for territories, languages, time, currencies, and other concepts. These codes aren't managed by Prime Video but allow for automation. • Start and End Terms: A date in the required format must be included. If only a date is included, a default of midnight, corresponding to the start of the day in the easternmost time zone in the territory indicated is assumed. A specific time may be supplied by using the required time format followed by the letter Z to indicate UTC (Zulu) time (2019-01-01T00:00:00Z). Also, offsets from UTC can be used to specify time zones. For example, 7:00 a.m. Standard Time in New York would be represented as: 2019-01- 01T07:00:00-05:00 (UTC minus five hours).

Avails Delivery Method

Avails are delivered via Aspera. For more information, see Delivery Methods. Make sure to follow the file naming rules.

EMA Avails Field List

The table below summarizes the available EMA Avails fields along with Prime Video-specific notes.

The applicable spec version lists EMA Avails fields. Accepted Values lists the acceptable values or indicates the type of value expected for each field. If left blank, it indicates a string is acceptable. All inputs are limited to UTF-8 characters. Prime Video Usage indicates whether the field is required, optional, or not used by Amazon.

The following table and notes are in addition to the documentation and definitions provided by MovieLabs. Should any conflict occur between the two, notes and guidelines provided below are considered definitive for deliveries to Prime Video.

Proper mapping will be performed by Amazon based on versions of EMA inputs. Prime Video Packaging Summary Prime Video delivery requirements vary by territory. For simplification, the US, UK, DE, and JP territories are collectively referred to as "Classic" and all other territories are referred to as "Global." Because of the packaging requirements of these territories, multiple separate asset packages are required if a title is to be published in all territories (Classic and Global). If a title is only going live in Global, only one delivery package is required. As a result of these nuances, onboarding must be completed for each Classic territory and the Global territory.

If a title is available to customers in SD/HD and UHD/HDR formats in Global and all five Classic territories, a total of 13 asset packages are required. See the table below for a summary of required assets.

US, UK, DE, and JP (Classic Territory) Packaging Requirements Prime Video has unique packaging requirements for each of the US, UK, DE, and JP territories (also known as Classic territories) that are separate from our Global Packaging Requirements (which supports all other territories). Each of the Classic territories shares aspects of the packaging requirements, but each of the four territories has unique requirements. Asset Manifest Asset manifests serve two main purposes.

• They provide metadata describing the technical assets delivered (such as asset type, language tags, resolutions, frame rates, etc.). • They identify which assets are intended to be packaged together.

There are two supported manifest formats in Classic territories.

• The Amazon Simple Asset Manifest • File Naming Convention

Each Aspera delivery account only supports one of the two manifest options, but not both simultaneously. Specifics on how to deliver to each option are as follows.

Amazon Simple Asset Manifest

The Amazon Simple Asset Manifest allows partners to deliver an XML file with asset metadata. Audio descriptions and HDR mezzanines must be delivered via XML Metadata. The Simple Asset Manifest includes the ability to use non-conformed file names, provide technical asset details such as frame rate and Drop/Non-Drop Frame values for timed text assets, and the association of a title identifier to each asset. This manifest can be included in the same file as the XML title metadata or be delivered as a separate file. When an asset referenced in the manifest needs to be redelivered, Prime Video requires the new asset file to have a different file name than what was previously referenced. Prime Video prefers you amend the file name with an "R1," "R2," etc. Example files for each of these options can be found in the Sample Files. When delivering Amazon XML files, they are subject to the file naming rules.

If you are currently delivering to File Naming Convention, migration to delivery via the Simple Asset Manifest requires Prime Video to make manual configuration changes to your partner delivery account. If you want to use the Amazon Simple Asset Manifest, please contact your Operations Account Manager for details.

Amazon XML Field List

Amazon XML templates are available for both individual territories (US, UK, DE, and JP) as well as content types (TV or movie). While there are differences based on territory and content type across these templates, the table below lists all the Amazon XML fields and associated notes. Amazon XML templates are available for download in the Sample Files. Accepted Values lists the acceptable inputs or indicates the type of value expected for each field. If left blank, it indicates a string is acceptable. All inputs are limited to UTF-8 characters. Prime Video Usage indicates whether the field is required, optional, or not used by Prime Video.

File Name Convention

If you prefer to not utilize the Simple Asset Manifest to deliver to the Prime Video Classic territories, you must follow the File Name Convention. Prime Video uses the ("-") as a delimiter between values within the file name of the provided asset. This naming convention must be followed exactly. Failure to do so will result in assets not matching to the correct title or processing correctly.

File Naming Convention: [PartnerAlias]-[UniqueID]-[ContentType]-[AssetType]- [LanguageCode]-[Territory].xxx

Example: Titan-ExplosionsMovie-Full-Mezz_HD-en-US.mpg

• The PartnerAlias and UniqueID must match exactly those used in the metadata and avails for that title. Each section of the file name is separated by a hyphen ("-"), not an underscore ("_") or other . • No spaces are allowed in file names. Underscores ("_") can be used to separate words within a single section of the file name, but please be careful that you are not using an underscore when a hyphen ("-") is required instead. • Metadata and avails files don't need to follow File Name Convention, but to help track them for review and troubleshooting, it is recommended to name them with keywords relating to your organization in addition to other identifying information.

File Name Sections

© 2018 Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates. All rights reserved. 30 Prime Video Content Guide v6.0

In the File Name Examples table below, descriptions are provided for each of the specific fields required in each asset file name. In the examples provided, ("[" and "]") are used to delineate required components and must not be included in the file name. They are only included in these examples to increase legibility.

PartnerAlias [PartnerAlias]-[UniqueID]-[ContentType]-[AssetType]-[LanguageCode]- [Territory].xxx

PartnerAlias: A Prime Video-defined alias used to identify the partner. You will be provided this alias during the onboarding process. This alias is generally an abbreviation of the full partner name. e.g., "Titan Studios" = "Titan." This alias is only used internally and isn't customer-facing.

UniqueID [PartnerAlias]-[UniqueID]-[ContentType]-[AssetType]-[LanguageCode]- [Territory].xxx

UniqueID: A Partner-defined value (a.k.a. SKU or EIDR) that uniquely defines a title. Every title (Episode, Season, Series, Movie) requires a UniqueID. You may use your own internal tracking number, provided it meets the below requirements:

• Must be unique within the partner’s catalog (i.e. no two titles that partner will send can use the same UniqueID). • Must match the UniqueID in the Prime Video Standard Naming Convention file name, AltID used in the avail, and the UniqueIDused in the metadata for the title. • 50-character maximum. • May only contain English letters, numbers, and underscores.

Content Type [PartnerAlias]-[UniqueID]-[ContentType]-[AssetType]-[LanguageCode]- [Territory].xxx

ContentType: Details whether the asset contains the full program material or trailer. The below entries are valid:

• Full: The main program material for the title. • Trailer: Trailer or preview for the title. For more information about trailers, see Value-added Material.

Title Metadata Title metadata files include information like genre, synopsis, and cast and crew, that helps create a customer- facing detail for each title. Prime Video accepts metadata in both Amazon XML and Amazon XLS formats for the US, UK, DE, and JP territories. For more information on the formats and benefits of each, see below.

A separate metadata file is required for each delivery territory. For specific territory requirements, see the table below. You may redeliver metadata at any time to update metadata values.

Delivery Requirements

• Prime Video offers metadata templates for both XML and XLS versions of the Prime Video metadata spec for the US, UK, DE, and JP territories, with specific value requirements for each. • Metadata must be delivered via either Aspera or Aspera Shares. • The unique identifier, your partner alias and whether a title is a movie or an episode can't be updated.

Amazon XLS Metadata

Territory-specific XLS templates are available for download.

• XLS templates are available for the US, UK, DE, and JP territories. The templates indicate which fields are required. • XLS metadata files should be submitted with UTF-8 . To do this in Excel, do the following: o When you save your Excel wokbook, in the Save As dialog box, click the Tools drop-down menu next to the Save button, and then click Web Options.

© 2018 Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates. All rights reserved. 34 Prime Video Content Guide v6.0

o On the Encoding tab, under Save this document as, select (UTF-8).

o Click OK and then click Save. • When delivering Amazon XLS files, they are subject to the file naming rules.

The table below summarizes the Amazon XLS fields and associated notes. Accepted Values lists the acceptable values or indicates the type of value expected for each field. If left blank, it indicates a string is acceptable. All inputs are limited to UTF-8 characters. Prime Video Usage indicates whether the field is required, optional, or not used by Amazon.

Amazon XML Metadata

Territory-specific AmazonXML metadata template files are available for download.

• Don't rearrange or add new fields; the fields and order are required for proper validation. • Where multiple entries are supported (Genre, Director, Actor, etc.), each instance must be on its own line with separate opening and closing tags included for each instance of that field. • Acceptable locale information is available. • The UniqueID field is used to communicate the ID of a TV Episode, TV Season, TV Series, or Movie, depending on the parent tag it is nested under. For example, a UniqueID tag nested within a Series tag would refer to the ID of the TV Series, whereas a UniqueID tag nested within a Season tag would describe the ID associated with that Season. • If providing EIDR numbers, the prefix must be omitted (everything prior to the "/" character). Submit this: XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-M, instead of this: 10.5240/XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-M. If you are providing EIDR numbers, include them in the optional tag in addition to the tag. • When delivering AmazonXML metadata files, they are subject to the file naming rules.

© 2018 Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates. All rights reserved. 40 Prime Video Content Guide v6.0

• Metadata submissions require a version attribute in the Metadata header element. This identifies the version of the schema to which metadata file conforms. The XSD location referenced within the header and the version listed must match. The current versions of the XSD are 1.4.3 for US, UK, DE, and JP. • Metadata submissions require a country attribute in the Metadata header element. Metadata submissions can only specify a single country. Currently-supported country attributes include: US, GB, DE, and JP.

SD/HD Territory Requirements

A separate metadata file must be delivered for every territory of intended delivery (US, UK, DE, and JP). The genre lists are unique for each territory and each submission must contain genres for the territory of submission.

US

Packaging a title for the US territory requires the following packaging specifics in addition to the overall US packaging requirements:

• When utilizing the XLS Metadata format, the Global Template sheet must have a country code of US and version of 1 • When utilizing XML metadata and/or asset manifest, the XML header must contain US in the country tag • Must utilize a genre from the US genre list • Must provide a US rating schema • Must deliver assets, metadata, and asset manifest (when applicable) to the region_US” folder in Aspera or Aspera Shares

UHD/HDR Territory Requirements

Prime Video supports the delivery of 4K Ultra HD (UHD) and High Dynamic Range (HDR) titles to all territories. The following section outlines requirements for delivering UHD/HDR titles to the US, UK, DE, and JP territories. You must undergo a specific onboarding process before delivering UHD/HDR titles to Prime Video.

Unique IDs for UHD/HDR Titles

UHD/HDR titles in Prime Video US, UK, DE, and JP territories have separate detail pages from their HD/SD counterparts. To facilitate this, we require two unique UniqueIDs and two unique delivery packages—one for the standard SD/HD package and one for the UHD/HDR package.

To support the separate detail pages for UHD/HDR and HD/SD, the UHD/HDR deliveries must have their own UniqueID that is different from the HD/SD version of that title. This Unique ID should be the same as the ID for the HD/SD version of the title, but appended with "_UHD". This ID must be referenced in the avail, the title metadata, and the asset manifest to ensure that all deliveries are appropriately matched.

US/UK Example Type Title Unique ID HD/SD The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel MrsmaiselS1E1 UHD The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel [4K Ultra HD] MrsmaiselS1E1_UHD

DE Example Type Title Unique ID HD/SD The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel MrsmaiselS1E1 UHD OV The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel [OV] [4K Ultra HD] MrsmaiselS1E1_UHD UHD Subtitled The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel [OmU] [4K Ultra HD] MrsmaiselS1E1_SUB_UHD UHD Dubbed The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel [4K Ultra HD] MrsmaiselS1E1_DUB_UHD

JP Example Type Title Unique ID HD/SD The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel MrsmaiselS1E1 UHD OV The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel [4K Ultra HD] MrsmaiselS1E1_UHD UHD Subtitled The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (字幕版) [4K Ultra HD] MrsmaiselS1E1_SUB_UHD UHD Dubbed The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (字幕版) [4K Ultra HD] MrsmaiselS1E1_DUB_UHD

Avails

All UHD/HDR titles must have corresponding avails that include 4K or UHD in the Format Profile column. The AltID column for this line must include the Unique ID that is specific to the 4K/UHD version of the title. See additional details on Unique IDs for UHD titles above.

Video Files

HDR titles must include both an HDR and an SDR video file delivery. The only difference between the SDR and HDR video files should be the colorspace. Otherwise, the files should be identical, including the same resolution and framerate. Any subtitles delivered with a UHD/HDR package should conform to both the SDR and HDR video files.

Amazon XML Simple Asset Manifest for UHD/HDR

© 2018 Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates. All rights reserved. 43 Prime Video Content Guide v6.0

HDR titles must include both an HDR and an SDR video file delivery. These files are both referenced in the XML Asset Manifest. Additionally, the manifest must include the HDR10 metadata for the HDR video file. Both the HDR and SDR video files are associated to the same UniqueID.

Prime Video will provide the HDR encodes for customers accessing content on HDR enabled screens and will provide the SDR encodes for customers accessing the content on SDR screens. Titles that are only UHD and unavailable in HDR should follow the same delivery process as described above with the omission of the HDR video file. In this case, the manifest will reference only the UHDSDR video file. Value-Added Material (VAM) Seasons are often composed of regular episodes, as well as bonus or promotional content such as trailers, previous season recaps, behind-the-scenes, etc. This Value-added Material (VAM) is structurally identical to an episode. It's a discrete video package that belongs to season/series hierarchy.

Just like a regular episode, VAM content requires metadata delivery. While episode sequences should begin with 1, a sequence number of 0 should be provided for each episode of VAM content. Prime Video reserves the right to re-order VAM content to provide the best customer experience. Global Territory Packaging Requirements The Global territory requires component asset packages to be delivered. Component based packages refer to content delivered with semi-textless video file which can be localized with discrete subs and dubs. These packages are delivered to Prime Video using the industry-standard MovieLabs suite of specifications including Media Entertainment Core (MEC) title metadata and Media Manifest Core (MMC) asset metadata.

Textless, Semi-Textless, and Texted Masters

To play titles in multiple languages using a single video source, Prime Video requires delivery of semi-textless mezzanines. Information about semi-textless mezzanines is below. Amazon defines a semi-textless master as a version of the video where no timed text for foreign language dialogue has been burned into the video image. Original language inter-titles or location-establishing text may be included to preserve creative intent, including opening credits, main titles, and end credits in the original language of the title as well.

Common Definition

Semi-textless: This is the format required in Global. Only subtitles that cover foreign dialog removed. All other text stays. Some studios refer to this as "Texted with no subtitles" and some as "Textless with main, ends, and graphic text" but it is becoming the industry standard semi-texted version. If there is collision between timed text elements and burned-in on-screen text, assets will be rejected. If your content falls into the below definitions, it will need to be reformatted to conform to the semi-textless definition above.

Texted: Fully texted master with no text removed.

Texted + Textless at tail: Fully texted master with textless inserts after end of program.

Textless: All onscreen text removed, including mains and end credits.

Textless with main and ends only: All onscreen text removed except for main and end credits.

Textless with main, ends, and locales: All onscreen text removed, except for main and credits and locales.

MEC Title Metadata Prime Video accepts localized title metadata in the Media Entertainment Core (MEC) metadata specification v2.6, authored by MovieLabs.

The XSD and documentation for this specification is found in the MovieLabs MEC section. In addition to following the schema and specification as outlined by MovieLabs, Prime Video has supplemental requirements (fields, vocabulary, etc.) to support the customer experience. The following sections describe these requirements, as well as the delivery and update workflows necessary to successfully deliver MEC title metadata to Prime Video.

This isn't intended to be a replacement of the MEC documentation, but a supplement to describe how Prime Video has implemented this specification. When delivering MEC title metadata files, they are subject to the file naming rules.

Metadata Delivery Workflows

If any changes are required for MEC metadata, updates to any previously-submitted metadata must include the same ContentID as the previous submission. Prime Video will accept the most recently-received submission as the most authoritative based on file received timestamps.

Redeliveries or updates from, or on behalf of, studios are processed as a full replace. Providing a new value in a field updates that field. Omitting a field in an update results in removal of that field. Prime Video reserves the right to verify updates prior to processing them and to process updates in a manner that ensures the best customer experience.

Delivering Complete Seasons

The MEC title metadata specification doesn't allow for all episodes of a season to be delivered in the same XML file. Each episode must be delivered in a separate file. Use the ParentContentID field to indicate the season to which an episode belongs.

Prime Video prefers delivery of the Series, Season, and Episode XMLs together (e.g., catalog content); if they can't be delivered together (e.g., current TV), the metadata must be delivered in the following order: Series, Season, and Episode.

MEC Field List

The table below summarizes the available MEC fields along with Prime Video-specific notes. The Field Name column lists MEC fields and indicates the hierarchy of the fields through indentation. Attributes for fields are indicated by the "@" . Accepted Values lists the acceptable values or indicates the type of value expected for each field. If left blank, it indicates a string is acceptable. Unless otherwise specified, string inputs are limited to 250 characters. All inputs are limited to UTF-8 characters. Prime Video Usage indicates whether the field is required, optional, or not used by Amazon. The following table and notes are in addition to the documentation and definitions provided by MovieLabs. Should any conflict or tension occur between the two, notes and guidelines provided below shall be considered definitive for deliveries to Prime Video.

Specifically for Genre, at least one genre is required in at least one LocalizedInfo section. The code for each genre selection must be included in the ID attribute. Three unique genres total are allowed per title. For example, Action – Epic and Action – Historical would count as two genres. See the Genre List for a more complete discussion of genres.

MMC Asset Manifest Partners delivering component source packages to Prime Video must include an asset manifest. Prime Video supports the Media Manifest Core (MMC) specification. MMC is an industry-standard XML schema designed by MovieLabs. Documentation on this specification and example files are on the MovieLabs website.

Prime Video supports a subset of the MMC spec. The complete set of available MMC fields along with notes regarding Prime Video usage is provided in the MMC Field List section. When delivering MMC asset manifest files, they are subject to the file naming rules.

Identifiers in MMC

MMC references a variety of IDs throughout the manifest. To ensure that identifiers are globally unique and to allow for manual exception handling, please use the following Uniform Resource Identifer (URI) structure within MMC submissions. Additional information is on the MovieLabs website.

Identifiers use the following URI structure. Examples are provided in the next section.

::::

defines the scope of the identifier. Throughout the MMC, the namespace is always md. • is the type of identifier, i.e. what is being identified. Examples include audtrackID, vidtrackID, PresentationID, etc. • identifies the scheme of the ID provided in the SSID. Amazon accepts two schemes. The scheme used is determined by what kind of ID is provided to Amazon to identify content: • eider-x indicates that the ID provided is an EIDR with additional information following the EIDR. • org indicates that the ID provided is unique identifier determined by the partner (not an EIDR). • is the content identifier. It's either an EIDR or the unique ID submitted by partner. If the org scheme is used, then the partner’s PartnerAlias must precede the ID provided, as mandated by the MMC spec. • is where more information can be submitted. If the eidr-x scheme is being used, then the partner’s PartnerAlias must immediately follow the EIDR. Additional information may follow that. Additional information is sometimes required in order to make the identifier unique. For example, information contained in the Additional Information section (in red text below) is what makes the two IDs below unique: o md:audtrackid:eidr-x:8011-8DCB-38E0-BF71-83D2- U:amazon_studios:feature.audio.en

o md:audtrackid:eidr-x:8011-8DCB-38E0-BF71-83D2- U:amazon_studios:feature.audio.fr

Identifier Examples

Eidr-x Identifier Example

The eidr-x scheme should be used if you are delivering EIDR numbers to identify your content. Prime Video prefers EIDR numbers to identify titles. When providing EIDRs to Prime Video, you must omit the EIDR prefix, which is everything prior to the character (e.g., "10.5240/"). Submit only the unique suffix and check digit (e.g., XXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-C). The Prime Video-supplied Partner Alias is appended after the EIDR, separated by colons.

Org Identifier Example

The org scheme should be used if you are delivering unique IDs that are not EIDRs to identify your content. An example is below. Note that the Prime Video-supplied Partner Alias is provided immediately preceding the title ID.

Sections of the Manifest

Inventory

The Inventory section of the MMC includes details about all of the assets (video, audio, timed text, and images) being delivered as part of a component source package.

Presentations

The Presentation section of the MMC indicates which assets delivered as part of a package should be played together. For example, if a package includes two video assets (one for the feature and one for the trailer), five audio tracks (four for the feature and one for the trailer), and eight timed text assets (all associated with the feature), there would be two Presentations associated with that inventory. The first would be for the Feature, and would include one video asset, four audio tracks, and eight timed text assets. The second presentation would be for the trailer, and would include one video track and one audio track.

Playable Sequences

The Playable Sequence section of the MMC provides details about Presentations that are intended to be played together and their sequence ordering. These entries aren't required.

Picture Group

A Picture group is a selection of images from the inventory that are referenced by an experience. Prime Video currently supports only one image per experience, so only one image from the inventory should be referenced in each picture group.

Experiences

The Experience section of the MMC groups Presentations and/or Playable Sequences along with Picture Groups to define the customer experience. For example, a single Experience could be composed of a Playable Sequence that contains a Rating Card, Feature Presentation, and a Dub Card.

ALID-Experience Mapping

A Logical Asset ID (ALID) is used to match the avails to the content. The ALID-Experience Mapping section of the MMC relates ALIDs from the EMA avails to the Experiences associated with that content.

SD/HD/UHD Requirements If you are delivering an SD/HD or UHD title to the Global marketplace, you will need to deliver the following components. Please see the individual asset specifications for further details and requirements. For a list of list of delivery requirements by territory, see the Packaging Summary.

Semi-Textless Video Mezzanine

The video mezzanine contains the video content of the title. Video mezzanines should also include one embedded audio track and should be semi-textless, only containing forced narratives for creative intent (e.g., dates, locations, etc.). For details and definitions of mezzanine types, see Video requirements.

Alternate Audio

Alternate audio assets are sources that contain 5.1 and/or stereo dubbed audio localized to a specific language or descriptive audio intended for the blind or visually impaired. Each language must be delivered as a separate, discrete asset conformed to match the accompanying video mezzanine. For details, see Audio requirements.

Forced Narratives

Forced Narratives (also known as Forced Subtitles) are timed text assets that translate on-screen text or foreign dialogue that is in a language other than the main audio content of the feature. Corresponding forced narratives are required for every Alternate Audio language. For details, see Timed Text requirements .

Full Subtitles

Full Subtitles are timed text assets that provide transcription of all dialogue for a title. Full Subtitles must also include all content included in the Forced Narrative for that title. For details, see Timed Text requirements.

Dub Cards

Dub Cards are assets that list voice actors who have played major roles in the localized voice acting for a title. Prime Video accepts discrete video files as sources for Dub Cards as long as there is an embedded audio track. For details, see Dub Cards requirements.

Images

Images are the key art displayed on product detail pages and in search results. For details, see Images requirements. HDR Requirements HDR titles must include both an HDR and an SDR mezzanine file delivery, matching the delivery requirements of SD/HD. The only difference between the SDR and HDR mezzanine files should be the colorspace. Otherwise, the files should be identical, including the same resolution and framerate.

Any timed text or audio files delivered with UHD/HDR package should conform to both the SDR and HDR mezzanine files. The inventory should reference both the SDR and HDR mezzanine files. Further, the HDR10 metadata must be included in the inventory section of the MMC. Both the SDR and HDR mezzanine files should then be referenced by the same presentation. For more information, see the MMC sample files. Value-added Material (VAM) Seasons are often composed of both regular episodes as well as bonus or promotional content such as trailers, previous season recaps, behind the scenes, etc. This Value-added Material (VAM) is structurally identical to an

© 2018 Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates. All rights reserved. 68 Prime Video Content Guide v6.0 episode. It's a discrete video package that belongs to season/series hierarchy. Just like a regular episode, they require a metadata delivery. The special requirements for VAM metadata are as follows:

• Parent/@RelationshipType The relationshiptype value must be ispromotionfor to indicate that the content is VAM. The rest of the Parent tag must also be included to identify the season that the VAM belongs to. • Worktype value should be set to promotion. • Sequence Numbers should be provided for VAM content. Prime Video reserves the right to re-order VAM content to provide the best customer experience.

Technical Asset Requirements This section provides requirements for video, audio, images, timed text, dub cards, and file naming rules. Video Video requirements

• Content must be trimmed to only contain the program material. Non-program content like advertisements, bars and tone, test patterns, production slates, textless material, or extended commercial blacks must be removed before delivery. • Letterboxing and pillarboxing don't need to be removed from video sources prior to delivery so long as they are free of burned in subtitles or ancillary data such as VITC timecode. Automated cropping during the transcode process ensures that final target encodes include the active picture only. Ensure that letterboxing and pillarboxing are symmetrical. • Advertisements, Bugs, Logos, and Watermarks • No non-program advertisements. If an ad is part of the program, it may stay (i.e. sponsorships, product placement, parody, etc.) • No studio or network logos. • No callouts to external websites or other distribution platforms. • Prime Video can accept video sources in either progressive or interlaced formats but will reject all telecined content. If your content is stored in a telecined format, we require it to be inverse-telecined to return it to native frame rate before delivery. • The frame rate of the mezzanine file must be constant. Variable frame rate sources will be rejected. • The file header metadata must accurately describe the following: • Scan Type: Progressive, Interlaced, or Adaptive(MBAFF) —Progressive or interlaced formats are accepted, but telecined content isn't. If your content is saved in telecined format, it must be inverse-telecined to return it to native frame rate before delivery. • Field Order (Bottom Field First or Top Field First) if video source is interlaced. • Display aspect ratio information in one of the following accepted formats: 4:3, 1.66:1, 16:9, 1.85:1, 2:1, 2.20:1, 2.35:1, 2.39:1, or 2.40:1. Note: Anamorphic content must have correct 4x3 or 16x9 display aspect ratio flags. 3:2 and 5:4 anamorphic storage formats will be rejected. • If the display aspect ratio isn't flagged in the header of your mezzanines, you must supply this information in the Prime Video Simple Asset Manifest. • VITC timecode and other ancillary data must be cropped prior to delivery. • If saving video out of QuickTime Player, the display size in the View window must be saved to Normal Size before delivery to Prime Video. In the Movie Inspector window, Current Size must match Normal Size. • Multi-Track Audio—Mezzanines delivered with Multi-Track Audio (MTA) packages (multiple languages for one piece of content) for the Global marketplace should be semi-textless, removing the embedded Forced Subtitles. For more information specifically for the Germany territory, see the territory requirements.

© 2018 Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates. All rights reserved. 69 Prime Video Content Guide v6.0

• Single-Track Audio—Mezzanines delivered with Single-Track Audio (STA) (one language only, however, there can still be stereo and 5.1 tracks contained in one source) to Classic marketplaces should contain the Forced Narrative of the audio language contained within the mezzanine. • HDR sources must be delivered in the Open HDR Format, commonly referred to as HDR-10. • All HDR deliveries must include a separate, standard dynamic range (SDR) source in the same resolution as the HDR source. Conformance and runtime of SDR and HDR sources must be identical.

Embedded audio requirements

• All audio tracks in a given source file must be in the same language. Multiple language tracks within a single source aren't allowed. • Audio mixes must only contain program audio. Non-program and production audio like & Effects, MOS, silent, or commentary tracks must be removed. • Audio duration and video duration must match exactly. • All audio tracks in a given source file must be the same bit depth. For example, an 8-channel MPEG-2 TS which has a 24-bit surround sound track must have a 24-bit stereo track. A 24-bit track and a 16-bit track embedded in the same video will be rejected. • Surround Sound Channel Layout: Prime Video requires the following audio channel mapping. Incorrectly mapped audio will be rejected. o 1-Channel Mono o 2-Channel Stereo: L-R or Dual-Mono o 6-Channel 5.1 Surround Sound: L-R-C-LFE-LS-RS o 8-Channel 5.1 Surround Sound+Stereo: L-R-C-LFE-LS-RS-Lstereo-Rstereo • All audio tracks in .mov and .mp4 files must be enabled in the QuickTime Player Video Properties window. Content with disabled audio tracks will be rejected.

Content processing guidelines

Transcode of video assets shouldn't be necessary if sources meet the above guidelines. If transcoding is deemed necessary, Prime Video works with you during the technical asset review to determine the ideal output format. The tables below under Specifications are provided to convey Prime Video profile expectations for standard video formats. Any video processing must follow industry best practices for creating high-quality video mezzanines. Content with obvious artifacting or quality loss due to improper processing will be rejected.

Prime Video requires that source mezzanines have frame rates native to the title’s production. Content originally produced at 23.976fps, 24fps, or 25fps which was telecined to 29.97i should receive inverse-telecine and be delivered at native frame rates. Also, Prime Video won't accept sources that have been upscaled or upsampled.

Video mezzanine validation

© 2018 Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates. All rights reserved. 73 Prime Video Content Guide v6.0

To minimize delivery of out-of-spec video assets, testing with Interra’s Baton software can be used to perform automated quality control on video mezzanines prior to delivery. The following are common issues:

• Non-standard display aspect ratios • Resolutions that don't meet the minimum requirements for SD, HD, or UHD delivery • Too many audio channels • Too few audio channels • Improper color space • Mismatched video and audio durations • Non-standard frame rates • Field dominance errors • Telecine/cadence issues • Long silent periods

Trailers

Prime Video supports trailers for movie content only. For episodic content, trailers can only be delivered as Value- added Material (Classic) or (Global). The following requirements apply:

• Trailers must be approved for all audiences. "Red Band" trailers and any trailers with nudity, graphic violence, or adult language aren't accepted. • Trailers promoting a locally-dubbed version Single Language Audio version of a title must contain audio dialogue that matches that dubbed language. If both dubbed and OV versions of a title are available in a single territory, it is preferable to have multiple trailers to promote both versions. For Global MTA trailers submissions, provide the OV trailer only. • Prime Video prefers to receive the final theatrical trailer, or most recent trailer if re-released to theaters. It's preferable that the source for the trailer to match the native aspect ratio of the movie. • Foreign-language trailers destined for the US, UK, DE, and JP territories must have embedded timed text in the primary language of each of those territories. • Trailers must not exceed six (6) minutes runtime.

Unless otherwise permitted by contract, all promotional material must be free and clear of any "call to action" (CTA) information. CTA refers to any auditory or visual references to any of the following:

• Theatrical release timeframes (e.g., "Theatrical Release Date," "Coming Soon," "This Summer"). • Distribution format or services (e.g., " on DVD & Blu-Ray," "Available on iTunes"). • Website/Social Media call outs (e.g., mymovie.com, @mymovie, facebook.com/mymovie)

Audio In certain territories, Prime Video allows discrete audio file delivery containing localized dubs or descriptive audio of a program's content. For information on a territory-by-territory basis, see the Supported Features table. Each language requires delivery of a separate audio asset, and all assets must conform to the video mezzanine delivered for that title.

For titles previously delivered to the Global marketplace, content partners have the option to send discrete audio to enable additional languages. This is dependent on the original video being semi-textless. When delivering assets to accompany previously-delivered video mezzanines, all additional assets must use the same identifiers as the previously-delivered sources. If you require a low-resolution proxy file of the mezzanine previously delivered to Prime Video to conform audio or timed text in additional languages, contact your operations account manager.

Technical guidelines for audio files and audio channel mapping

A table of supported codecs and container types for alternate audio files is provided below. If your assets are saved in a format other than those listed below, it might be possible for Prime Video to accept these files as-is. Consult with your operations account manager to confirm compatibility of other asset types. Please only deliver fully- mixed program tracks. Additional tracks, like music and effects (M&E) and silent (MOS), must be removed prior to delivery.

Whenever available, 8-channel 5.1 Surround Sound + Stereo is preferred; however, audio files can support mono, stereo, 6-channel surround, and 8-channel surround sound + stereo mixes. 5.1 audio delivered without an accompanying stereo mix will automatically be down-mixed to stereo for customers without 5.1 audio capability. Audio assets must be mapped to one of the channel layouts in the table below.

All of the audio tracks contained in a package must be the same bit depth. For example, an 8-channel MPEG-2 TS with a 24-bit surround-sound track must also have a 24-bit stereo track. A 24-bit track and a 16-bit track embedded in the same asset will be rejected.

Audio validation

To minimize delivery of out-of-spec audio assets, manual or automated quality control testing can be performed on audio files prior to delivery. Some of the common issues are as follows:

• One-hour offset in audio files • Too many audio channels • Too few audio channels • Mismatched video and audio durations • Non-standard sample rates • Long silent periods • Multiple languages across audio tracks

Non-program audio included in audio mixes. Music and Effects (M&E), MOS, silent tracks and commentary tracks must be removed.

Descriptive audio

In our effort to further support blind and visually impaired customers, Prime Video fully supports descriptive audio or "narration." Descriptive audio consists of a narrator talking through the presentation, describing what is happening on the screen or stage during the natural pauses in the audio, and sometimes during dialogue if deemed necessary.

To deliver descriptive audio, content partners must adhere to the following instructions, depending on delivery method:

Images Images are a key way for customers to discover and interact with your content on Prime Video. We have specific requirements for TV and movie images as outlined below.

Technical specifications

• Resolution o TV Preferred: 2560x1920; Minimum: 1600x1200 o Movie Preferred: 1920x2560; Minimum: 1200x1600 o Images exceeding 10,000 pixels on any side will be rejected. • Aspect Ratio o TV 4:3 o Movies 3:4 • Format JPEG or PNG • Color Space RGB

© 2018 Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates. All rights reserved. 77 Prime Video Content Guide v6.0

Editorial requirements

• Images must include the name of the feature or series they accompany. o Localized images are accepted for the US, UK, DE, and JP territories. For all other marketplaces, only the OV (original version) image will be published. For complete details on localized images, see the Packaging Summary. • Images are required for all movie content. • Each season of a series must be delivered with an image. • Season-level images should contain the name of the Series and Season number, or other designation, such as volume number. • Amazon sometimes adds a "sash" in the upper left-hand corner of the image for titles. It's preferable for images to not include critical material in this area of the image. The size of these sashes varies depending on device. • Episode-level images are strongly preferred for TV content, but aren't required. If you are supplying episodic images, a separate season-level image is still required. If you are supplying episode-level images, each episode within a season must have an episode-level image (excluding bonus content, such as trailers, season recaps, sneak peeks, etc.). o Episode-level images should be screenshots from that episode. o Episode-level images should contain persons or objects representative of that episode.

Restricted content

Don't include the following image elements:

• Bugs, logos, and watermarks • No references to other formats or format-specific logos ("Now on DVD," Blu-Ray logos, etc.) • No studio or network logos • No callouts to external websites, other distribution platforms, or theatrical release dates • Borders: When your image is scaled, borders may partially or completely disappear • Small text: When your image is scaled, it might become unreadable • Padding: Using letterboxing or pillarboxing to fit images to spec makes your image look inconsistent within the Prime Video customer experience • On-screen text (title treatment, credits, subtitles, etc.) • Drug use, nudity, or sexually-suggestive content • Someone harming or fighting another individual, guns, or other weapons. If an image containing a weapon cannot be avoided, please avoid images with weapons pointed directly at the viewer or an individual in the video. • Spoilers: Don't include spoilers for the plot of the episode. For elimination-based reality TV shows, attempt to keep the competitors' identities obscured as much as possible as the season progresses so as not to reveal winners/losers. • Timed Text (Captions, Subtitles, Forced Narratives)

Timed Text (Captions, Subtitles, Forced Narratives) All timed text assets must be conformed to match the length of the accompanying video prior to delivery to Prime Video. Whenever available, Prime Video prefers to receive captions/SDH (subtitles for the deaf or hard-of-hearing) over subtitles to provide an enhanced viewing experience to customers who are deaf or hard of hearing. See the Supported Features table for a complete list of timed text assets by territory.

• Captions/SDH: Timed text that includes both spoken dialogue and atmospherics for the deaf and hard-of- hearing.

© 2018 Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates. All rights reserved. 78 Prime Video Content Guide v6.0

• Subtitles: Timed text assets that provide on-screen text of the program dialogue. Any subtitle, closed caption, or SDH file delivered as part of an MTA package must contain a full translation of all spoken dialogue and narrative text that needs to be understood by the audience, including Forced Narratives. • Forced Narratives: Forced Narratives (also known as Forced Subtitles) translate spoken dialogue and on- screen text that is in a different language from the primary audio content of the program when creative intent requires that the dialogue be understood by the viewer. They are displayed to the customer based on their audio choice, rather than selecting that subtitle language. If a title contains Forced Narrative content, delivery of separate Forced Narrative timed text assets is required for each language available in a multi-track audio (MTA) package. See the Supported Features table for additional information based on territory. A Forced Narrative file is required for every dubbed audio language being provided. You may also need to provide a Forced Narrative file in the original language of the title if you are providing us with a semi-textless master, where texted elements present in the theatrical or original broadcast version have been removed.

Technical guidelines for timed text

Prime Video accepts the following file types for delivery of timed text:

• DFXP Full / TTML (Timed Text Markup Language) with a .dfxp file extension • Lambda Cap with a .cap file extension • EBU-STL with a .stl file extension • iTT (iTunes Timed Text) files with a .iTT file extension • SCC (Scenarist Closed Caption) with a .scc file extension • SMPTE-TT (RP-2052) with an .xml file extension • SRT

Frame Rates and Drop/Non-Drop Frame indication

Prime Video allows a wide range of timed text formats, some of which don't natively include Frame Rate or Drop/Non-Drop values. In general, if the time code format is in clock time (i.e. hh:mm:ss.sss), Frame Rate or Drop/Non-Drop information isn't required. If it's in a frame-based format (i.e. hh:mm:ss:ff or hh:mm:ss;ff), then you must send both Frame Rate and Drop/Non-Drop information via the file name convention, Prime Video Asset Manifest, or MMC Manifest. Depending on the specification and namespace used (TTML or TTAF) in DFXP, XML, and ITT files, Prime Video uses either the TTML timebase or TTAF timebase (media and SMPTE only) accordingly for parsing.

The table below summarizes the timed text formats that Prime Video accepts and whether or not that information must be included in the delivery manifest document. Information provided via delivery manifests takes priority over assumed default values found in the header metadata of the timed text file.

Positioning and styling

While Prime Video doesn't support timed text positioning, positioning information should be included when obscuring instances of onscreen text may occur in the lower third of the video frame. Some styling information is supported and the table below specifies what positioning and styling is supported for each timed text format.

Time Code Offset

Prime Video doesn't support time code offsets. All timed text files must be submitted with a 00:00 offset in order to conform to the video mezzanine file.

Character support

Prime Video supports the full UTF-8 character set, except musical notes. Dub Cards Dub cards are video files that list voice actors who have played major roles in the dubbed audio track for a title. Prime Video supports the delivery of discrete assets for dub cards. Refer to the Supported Features table for dub card requirements by territory.

Prime Video accepts standalone video files at the same resolution and frame rate as the video mezzanine of the feature, which must meet the technical specifications outlined in the Video Technical Asset Requirements. Typically, dub cards run 3–6 seconds. The dub card video file must have at least one audio track, but it can be silent. Prime Video doesn't accept image dub cards. File Naming Rules When delivering files (Amazon XML metadata and manifests, Amazon XLS metadata, MEC XML metadata, MMC XML manifests, avails, images, videos, audio, timed text, dub cards, etc.) you must adhere to the following file naming rules:

• Spaces, Unicode characters, or other special characters aren't allowed. • Underscores ("_") can be used to separate words within a single section of the file name. Ensure you are not using underscores when a hyphen ("-") is required when using File Naming Convention. • File names in asset manifests and metadata must match exactly the file names of delivered assets. These file names are case sensitive. • Periods in file names aren't allowed. Onboarding The Prime Video onboarding process is how we work with studios and post houses to validate their capabilities to deliver content in spec to Prime Video. This process overview covers the teams involved, the overall timeline, and the test materials required to successfully onboard to Prime Video.

© 2018 Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates. All rights reserved. 81 Prime Video Content Guide v6.0

We highly encourage you to review these materials and begin sourcing the content prior to the onboarding call to help with the turnaround time. Onboarding Process While engaging in our onboarding process, you will work with four teams.

Content Acquisition Managers

The Content Acquisition Management (CAM) team is the business team working to source content and sign deals for Prime Video. They work with you on the deals Prime Video is signing to obtain content for our catalog.

Partner Operations Managers/Partner Launch Managers

When a deal is mutually agreed upon, CAM involves the operations account management team. A representative works with you to fully understand the scope of the deal, including the number of titles, the timeline for launch, and to determine whether you:

• Will work with an established post house to deliver content to Prime Video • Want to work with a post house not yet onboarded to deliver content to Prime Video • Want to become onboarded to deliver content to Prime Video on your own behalf

Digital Video Specialists

The Digital Video Specialist (DVS) team works with you and your post house specifically to evaluate video quality. The DVS team works with you and your post house regardless of whether you are engaging with an onboarded post house, a new post house, or are onboarding yourselves. The DVS team reviews the Technical Asset Questionnaire, conducts a technical call with your technical team, requests a set of video assets to review, and approves specific delivery formats that you may deliver to Prime Video. This process is known as the Technical Asset Review.

Partner Integrations Managers

If you've identified that you want to either a) work with a post house not yet onboarded to Prime Video or b) become onboarded to deliver on your own behalf, the Partner Integrations Managers (PIM) team works with your post house to conduct a series of test deliveries to ensure we can receive content and successfully package the content together. This process is known as Delivery Onboarding. A representative from the PIM team is engaged as necessary by the operations account manager and reaches out directly to you to begin the delivery onboarding process.

© 2018 Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates. All rights reserved. 82 Prime Video Content Guide v6.0

Technical Asset Review The Technical Asset Review evaluates whether the video files you deliver to Prime Video meet our specifications and quality . It's required when you:

• have never delivered content to Prime Video before • are working with a new post house that is processing your video content (even if the post house has already been onboarded to deliver to Prime Video) • are delivering a new video format to Prime Video

During the Technical Asset Review, the Digital Video Specialist (DVS) team first reviews the Archival Format Questionnaire. They schedule a call with you and your technical representatives to review your video formats and workflows (codecs, bitrates, framerates, processing, etc.). If any of your content will be processed or delivered through a post house, make sure a representative from that post house is on the call.

Based on the answers from the questionnaire and the phone discussion, the DVS team requests an array of test content and formats that are representative of your stored catalog. They review those assets to ensure they meet the technical requirements outlined in the video specifications. Test files out of compliance with the Prime Video spec are reported back to the provider and require redelivery to demonstrate your ability to correctly process content. If out-of-spec content is repeatedly delivered, the DVS team further analyzes and outlines the areas that require improvement in your facility's quality control measures to successfully deliver content to Prime Video.

After testing is complete, the DVS team provides a summary via email clearly outlining which video, audio, and timed text formats you are approved to deliver. Delivery Onboarding Delivery onboarding is only required if you are a) working with a post house who has not yet been onboarded to deliver to Prime Video or b) are wanting to be onboarded to deliver on your own behalf. Delivery onboarding is also required if you or a post house have already been onboarded, but want to deliver to a new territory (for example, delivering to our Global territory when you have only been onboarded to our Classic territories) or a new format (for example, delivering UHD/HDR content when you have only been onboarded to deliver SD/HD).

When Delivery Onboarding is complete, the PIM provides a summary via email clearly outlining what formats you have been onboarded to and cleared to deliver. Your POM contact then works with you to facilitate the delivery of launch and/or production materials.

Timeline

The PIM team works diligently to complete this process as quickly as possible with you to make content available for our viewing customers. We expect that the onboarding process should take no longer than 40 calendar days and we rely on your partnership to maintain that timeline. To expedite this process, we expect that all requested redeliveries are made within 24–48 hours after feedback is received from Prime Video as we progress through the rounds of delivery for Classic onboarding and Global onboarding.

Territory overview

Prime Video currently has five (5) delivery territories—US, UK, DE, JP, and Global (all other territories). For simplification, the US, UK, DE, and JP territories are collectively referred to as "Classic" and all other territories worldwide are referred to as "Global." Because of the packaging requirements of these delivery stacks, five (5) separate deliveries are required if a title is going live in all territories (Classic and Global). If a title is only going live in a territory outside of Classic (US, UK, DE, and JP), only a single Global delivery is required. As a result of these nuances, onboarding must be completed for each territory.

When is onboarding required?

© 2018 Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates. All rights reserved. 83 Prime Video Content Guide v6.0

• Delivering to Prime Video for the first time • Delivering to a new specification within a territory (for example: moving from file naming convention to XML, moving from XLS to Prime Video XML, etc.) • Delivering to a new format profile (UHD/HDR) • Delivering to a new territory • Utilizing a new, un-onboarded post house

US, UK, DE, and JP (Classic Territory) Onboarding As a result of the delivery nuances of each Classic territory, a separate onboarding is required for each territory; however, the rounds required for testing remain the same. Below is a generic outline of the rounds of delivery, followed by territory-specific requirements.

Round 1

This round is used to test the following competencies: overall asset quality, ability to format metadata and manifest documents and ability to construct series/season/episode hierarchy. This round provides the lowest complexity while still touching on all necessary core competencies for delivery. Errors experienced in this round are coached and redelivery is requested until a 100% accurate delivery is made.

Movies

• XLS Metadata and assets following File Naming Convention or AXML Metadata and XML Manifest (can be included in the same AXML Metadata file if desired) • 1 Feature Mezzanine (territory-specific requirements, see breakouts below) • Subtitles/Dubs (territory-specific requirements, see breakouts below)

Episodic • XLS Metadata and assets following File Naming Convention or AXML Metadata and XML Manifest (can be included in the same AXML Metadata file if desired) • Ep. 1: Mezzanine (territory-specific requirements, see breakouts below) • Ep. 2: Mezzanine (territory-specific requirements, see breakouts below) • Ep. 1: Subtitles/Dubs (territory-specific requirements, see breakouts below) • Ep. 2: Subtitles/Dubs (territory-specific requirements, see breakouts below) • Season Image

Round 2

This round is used to build upon the competencies tested in the first round of delivery. Additionally in this round we test the ability to insert another Season into an existing Series hierarchy. Errors experienced in this round would be coached and redelivery requested until a 100% accurate delivery is made.

Movies

• XLS Metadata and assets following File Naming Convention or AXML Metadata and XML Manifest (can be included in the same AXML Metadata file if desired) • 3 Feature Mezzanines (territory-specific requirements, see breakouts below) • Subtitles/Dubs for each (territory-specific requirements, see breakouts below) • Images for each

Episodic

• A Separate Season Metadata (S2) — nesting under previously-delivered Series Metadata • XLS Metadata and assets following File Naming Convention or AXML Metadata and XML Manifest (can be included in the same AXML Metadata file if desired • S2 Ep. 1: Mezzanine (territory-specific requirements, see breakouts below) • S2 Ep. 2: Mezzanine (territory-specific requirements, see breakouts below) • S2 Ep. 1: Subtitles/Dubs (territory-specific requirements, see breakouts below) • S2 Ep. 2: Subtitles/Dubs (territory-specific requirements, see breakouts below) • Season Image

Round 3

This round represents the culmination of all previous deliveries and learnings from those deliveries will be needed to successfully pass this round and become "onboarding complete." All core competencies are now tested at a larger scale than before with an entirely new delivery package. Errors experienced in this round would be coached and redelivery requested until a 100% accurate delivery is made.

Movies

Round 3 isn't required for movies.

All Other Marketplaces (Global) Onboarding While the video, timed text, audio and image technical asset requirements for Global delivery are the same as Classic delivery, because of packaging requirements, there are several notable differences:

• A semi-textless mezzanine • MEC Metadata and MMC Manifests (file naming convention and AXML metadata is not supported in Global) • Discrete audio and timed text files Round 1
