Kichha (Udham Singh Nagar) / Dehradun, 10 November, 2011. Chief Minister Major General (Retd.) Bhuwan Chandra Khanduri dedicated to the people and laid foundation stones of a number of development schemes worth Rs. 32 crores 26 lakhs and 24 thousand, at a programme organised at the Indira Gandhi Sports Ground at Kichha, under the Rudrapur-Kichha Assembly Constituency area, on Thursday. On the occasion, he said that support price for sugarcane would be announced in a day or two, and the pending payment of 10 crore rupees would be made soon for sugarcane cost of the last crushing season. Addressing a public meeting, Chief Minister Shri Khanduri said that besides promoting various development and public welfare measures, the State Government has waived off its share of tax on petrol to make it cheaper by 45 paise for consumers who are reeling under repeated hike in petrol prices being done by the Centre. On the occasion, Shri Khanduri explained the various steps initiated by the Government to eradicate corruption, and promote good governance and public service in the State. He said that several decisions have been taken in public interest in the direction of promoting good governance and corruption- free administration through bringing about a citizens charter provision, details of assets, and the Ombudsman, among others. He said that corruption is the main issue and to deal with it, the cooperation of the general public and their participation and cooperation is essential. Only then an overall change can be brought about in the scenario. He said that it is only through ridding the system of corruption that Uttarakhand can move ahead on the path as a cultured and developed state. During his visit, the Chief Minister dedicated to the people, road reconstruction and strengthening work on 4.50 km motor road, with change from 19.5 km stone to 24 km, in Industrial Estate Phase I of Majhola-Mornaula road under the infrastructure amenities in Eldeco Sidcul Industrial Park Sitarganj constructed at a cost of Rs. 584.71 lakhs, and strengthening of internal link roads in village Bhurarani at a cost of Rs. 32.27 lakhs. In addition, Chief Minister Khanduri dedicated to the people two other development schemes which include the lining of guhls (minor irrigation canals), to make irrigation facilities available to Boksa tribe dominated areas, under the AIBP (TSP) scheme of lining construction of a total of 5 canals, under the Bazpur development block at a cost of Rs. 199.69 lakhs, and the first phase of construction of the Central Jail, Sitarganj at a cost of 1972.06 lakhs. Besides, the Chief Minister laid foundation stones of development schemes which include repair and reconstruction of Kichha – Nagla Road at a cost of Rs. 50 lakh, improvement of Ring Road in Awas Vikas Rudrapur and construction of a divider as well as 0.7 km of road construction work in Friends Colony, repair on National Highway No. 74 at a cost of Rs. 1.49 crore, rural roads being constructed by the Sugarcane Department in Bazpur region at a cost of Rs. 67.55 lakh and construction work of sports facilities including basketball, volleyball and lawn tennis courts in Rudrapur Stadium to be built at a cost of Rs. 25 lakh. Almora / Dehradun, 10 November, 2011. Chief Minister Major General (Retd.) Bhuwan Chandra Khanduri has said that besides taking the State forward on the path of all round development, the good governance initiative figures as the top priority of his Government. Addressing a public meeting organized in the premises of the Ramsay Intermediate College here, on Thursday, he said that the Government has taken the initiative to make Lokayukta more effective and strong, and to implement the Right to Service in the State. During his visit, the Chief Minister dedicated to the people and laid foundation stones of 12 development schemes worth Rs. 6016.25 lakhs. Chief Minister Shri Khanduri dedicated to the people the main building of Community Health Centre Dhaula Devi (Rs. 299.09 lakh), main building of Community Health Centre Hawalbagh (Rs. 193.73 lakh), main building of Community Health Centre Dhaula Chhina (Rs. 247.50 lakh), and main buildings of 33/11 KV Sub-station Kosi ( Rs. 166.00 lakh), Industrial Training Institute at Khoont (Rs. 130.30 lakh), office of the Regional Transport Officer at (Rs. 123.15 lakh), and the State Observatory at Pande Khola in Almora (Rs. 90.27 lakhs). Besides, the Chief Minister laid foundation stones of development schemes which include construction of a B.Sc. Nursing College in Almora at a cost of Rs. 1340.50 lakh, construction of Food Craft Institute Almora at a cost of Rs. 475.00 lakh, construction of Baga, Palna, Nishni, Aneriakot, Kalyari, Chaunli, Gauna motor road link under Almora development block at a cost of Rs. 175.00 lakh, up gradation and improvement of Kathgodam – Ranibagh, Bhimtal – Khutani, Padampuri – Lohaghat – Pancheshwar motor road at a cost of Rs. 2385.21 lakh, and construction of steel girder and RCC bridges as per standards of double lane Class A loading on Almora – Ghat motor road at a cost of Rs. 390.50 lakh under the State Plan. Chief Minister Shri Khanduri said that the Government is making strong efforts to ensure that the fruits of development reach out to the last person in the remote and far flung areas of the State. The Government has taken a unique initiative by constituting the new department of Suraaj, Bharashtachar Unmulan evam Jan Sewa to eradicate corruption and for promoting good governance and public service. He said that under the decentralised scheme, the Nyaya panchayats are being made strong so that the benefits of development schemes reach the general public in time. Besides, the Government is also ensuring quality and transparency in the works by taking concrete decisions. He said that any let up in development works at any level would not be tolerated, especially in road construction, potable water, electricity, health, and education sectors. The Chief Minister said that Uttarakhand state has created a record of sorts by becoming the first state in the country to have passed the strong Lokayukta Act as well as the Right to Service Act. Besides, several public welfare measures have been implemented which include the initiative of good governance, the implementation of Right to Public Service in the State, transparent Transfer Act, and the scrapping of British colonial era notification on benaap land. On the occasion, Chief Minister Shri Khanduri remembered Soban Singh Jena’s contribution in the development of the State, and called upon all to rise above petty party politics to take the State forward on the path of all round development. He said that after its formation, Uttarakhand has brought glory to the country by setting records ahead of many other states in several development sectors. Expressing his serious concern at the rising trends of out-migration from villages, he said that all of us would have to collectively seek a solution and devise ways and means to make the youth adopt self-employment measures and become self-reliant. The Chief Minister gave details of the 28 announcements made by him on the occasion of the State Foundation Day, on 9 November, and said that the same would be implemented starting from this month itself. On the occasion, he gave away commendation certificate of the Tilu Rauteli award to Km. Pranjal Karnataka for her exceptional performance in education, sports, arts and culture. Besides, he also gave cheques of Rs. 5 thousand each to 15 eligible beneficiaries of the Nanda Devi Kanya Yojana, and NSCs of Rs. 25 thousand each to 11 beneficiaries of Gaura Devi Kanya Dhan Yojana. Earlier, BJP workers accorded a warm welcome to Chief Minister Shri Khanduri by garlanding him. On the occasion, they also presented a memento to him.
