Bhuwan Chandra Khanduri dedicated to the people and laid foundation stones of a number of development schemes worth Rs. 32 crores 26 lakhs and 24 thousand, at a programme organised at the Indira Gandhi Sports Ground at Kichha, under the Rudrapur-Kichha Assembly Constituency area, on Thursday. On the occasion, he said that support price for sugarcane would be announced in a day or two, and the pending payment of 10 crore rupees would be made soon for sugarcane cost of the last crushing season. Addressing a public meeting, Chief Minister Shri Khanduri said that besides promoting various development and public welfare measures, the State Government has waived off its share of tax on petrol to make it cheaper by 45 paise for consumers who are reeling under repeated hike in petrol prices being done by the Centre. On the occasion, Shri Khanduri explained the various steps initiated by the Government to eradicate corruption, and promote good governance and public service in the State. He said that several decisions have been taken in public interest in the direction of promoting good governance and corruption- free administration through bringing about a citizens charter provision, details of assets, and the Ombudsman, among others. He said that corruption is the main issue and to deal with it, the cooperation of the general public and their participation and cooperation is essential. Only then an overall change can be brought about in the scenario.
