Three species of Chalcididae (Hymenoptera, Chalcidoidea) were newly recorded from Mo- rocco during a study carried out in the Maâmora forest between 2012 and 2014: Hockeria bifasciata (Walker, 1834), H. mengenillarum (Silvestri, 1943) and Proconura decipiens (Masi, 1929). P. decipiens (Masi, 1929) stat. rev. will be removed from synonymy with P. nigripes (Fonscolombe, 1832). This study includes bibliographical research and revision of specimens deposited in the National Museum of Natural History, Scientific Institute of Rabat (Morocco). Twenty–six species and fourteen genera belonging to the family Chalcididae (Hymenoptera, Chalcidoidea) are now catalogued from Morocco. Thus, it is particularly important to develop alternative strategies to control this pest. Over a 4-year period, a survey was done in order to acquire knowledge about the complex of parasitoids associated with this pest. Leaves, flowers, and fruit infested with larvae and pupae of P. oleae were collected from olive groves, conditioned in vials, and kept under laboratory conditions until the emergence of P. ol e ae adults or parasitoids. The abundance and richness of parasitoids as well as the rate of parasitism was estimated. Hymenoptera parasitoids were found to be responsible for 43% of the mean mortality of the sampled individuals. -

Order Hymenoptera, Family Chalcididae
Arthropod fauna of the UAE, 6: 225–274 (2017) Order Hymenoptera, family Chalcididae Gérard Delvare INTRODUCTION The Chalcididae belong to a medium-sized family of parasitoids with 96 genera and 1469 species in the World (Aguiar et al., 2013). Their size ranges from 1.5 to 15 mm and their body is hard with surface sculpture consisting of umbilic punctures. They are predominantly black, sometimes with yellow and/or red markings, rarely with metallic reflections. The sexual dimorphism is minimal except in Haltichellinae, where the flagellum of the male is thicker and the scape possibly modified (Plates 18–21). Recognition: The family belongs to the huge superfamily Chalcidoidea, which now includes 22 families (Heraty et al., 2013). In this group the mesosoma exhibits a special triangular sclerite – the prepectus – which separates the pronotum from the tegula (Plates 7, 8). This plate is also present in Chalcididae but is quite reduced here (Plates 5, 29). The family is mostly recognized by the enlarged metafemur, which is toothed or serrulate on the ventral margin, and the strongly curved metatibia (Plates 26, 48, 57, 94, 131). Some representatives of other chalcid families (Torymidae: Podagrionini and some Pteromalidae: Cleonyminae) also have an enlarged metafemur (Plate 9) but here the prepectus is expanded as usual and well visible as a triangular plate (Plate 8); in addition the relevant groups exhibit metallic reflections (Plate 7). Finally the sculpture of the propodeum is quite different: it is almost always areolate in the Chalcididae (Plate 3), but never exhibits such ornamentation in the non-chalcidid families (Plate 6) The Leucospidae, with the single genus Leucospis Fabricius, 1775, would also be mixed with the Chalcididae as they also share their character states. -

The Chalcididae represent a large group of parasitic Hymenoptera which para sitise pupal or larval stages of various insects including several pests. Their phylogeny is not so far clearly known. but a Eurytomid-Torymid line of accent could be postulated. There is a general resemblance in their adult behaviour such as emergence, courtship, mating, oviposition. feeding etc. Their hosts belong to Lepidoptera, Dipteru, Hymenoptera, Neuroptera. Coleoptera and Strepsiptera. Keywords, Chalcididuc: Biosystematics. 1. Introduction The Chalcididae (S. Str.) represents a large group of parasitic wasps (Hymenoptera: Chalcidoidea) which parasitise various insects, many of which are of economic importance. Their hosts include the blackheaded caterpillar of coconut, the cotton leaf-roller, the padyskipper, the diamond back moth of cabbage, the gypsy moth, the castor capsule borer as well as extremely large number of other pests. Unfortunately many species.of Chalcididae look very much alike while they differ widely in habits. Hence, precise identification of the species or infraspecific categories is highly important in any host-parasite studies involving these insects which are important, interesting and difficult (taxonomically) parasitic insects. The study of Chalcididae may be said to have begun well before 200 years ago when Linnaeus (1758) discovered and reported a few species. Since then several authors have contributed to the knowledge of this family and some of the important contributions are those by Fabricius (1775, 1787), Walker (1834, 1841, 1862), Westwood (1829), Dalla Torre (1898), Dalman (1820), Spinola (1811), Motschulsky (1863), Forster (1859), Fonscolornbe (1840), Cresson (1872), Klug (1834) and Kirby (1883). -
