Duane Denison’S Music PCEP’s Rock Star For those interested in alternative rock music, perhaps they should listen to some of Duane Denison’s music. Duane Denison has traveled all over the world as a talented member of the band, Tomahawk, and as a music instructor. Prior to becoming one of Spin magazine’s “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time” and performing with numerous bands and artists, Denison went to PlymouthSalem High School. It was there that an interest in going into a career in music started for Denison. His Social Studies teacher, Steve Williams, helped him feel like he “wasn’t completely wrong for going into a career in music.” Denison graduated from the PlymouthSalem as a part of the class of 1977 before studying and receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Music from Eastern Michigan University in 1984. Denison first gained public recognition for his work with his alternative rock band, The Jesus Lizard. Their albums, "Goat" and "Liar," made Rolling Stones magazine's "Top 100 Albums of the 90's" list. Later, Denison went on to be a sideman for Hank Williams III and The Legendary Shack Shakers. Currently, Denison is the guitarist for Tomahawk, along with singer/keyboardist Mike Patton, drummer John Stanier, and bass player Trevor Dunn. In his spare time, he teaches live online guitar classes via lessonface.com For people that want to become a musician like Mr. Duane Denison, he advised, "It takes persistence! It takes more than talent—there’s a lot of unpaid work involved, and a little luck and timing are crucial as well." Duane can be contacted through LinkedIn or lessonface.com. .

Often there was an ADAT machine ready to go for any spontaneous outbursts (think ‘Nothing’ from the end of Disco Volante), but we tested out various setups at our disposal.” Trey Spruance, who often engineered these chaotic recordings, recalls: “I remember wanting to enhance audio separation and isolation to an extreme, using a kind of ‘musique concrète live mix’ approach, hoping that would capture the unruly individual spirits of our improvisation more faithfully.
