The majority of these studies have focused on the interaction between a local language and a non-local language. In this project, I propose an analysis of the mixture of two world languages (Spanish and English), which can be categorised as both local and non-local. I do this through the analysis of the enormously successful reggaeton genre, which is characterised by its use of Spanglish. I used two data types to inform my research: a corpus of code-switching instances in top 20 reggaeton songs, and a questionnaire on attitudes towards Spanglish in general and in music. I collected 200 answers to the questionnaire – half from American English-speakers, and the other half from Spanish-speaking Hispanics of various nationalities. -

Frederik Dörfler-Trummer HipHop aus Österreich Studien zur Popularmusik Frederik Dörfler-Trummer (Dr. phil.), geb. 1984, ist freier Musikwissenschaftler und forscht zu HipHop-Musik und artverwandten Popularmusikstilen. Er promovierte an der Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien. Seine Forschungen wurden durch zwei Stipendien der Österreichischen Akademie der Wissenschaften (ÖAW) so- wie durch den österreichischen Wissenschaftsfonds (FWF) gefördert. Neben seiner wissenschaftlichen Arbeit gibt er HipHop-Workshops an Schulen und ist als DJ und Produzent tätig. Mit dem OPUS KLASSIK hat im Oktober 2018 bereits ein neuer Klassikpreis eine vom BVMI unabhängige Struktur erhalten. Zum anderen hat uns insbesondere seit dem Sommer die europäische Urheber- rechtsreform zunehmend intensiv be- schäftigt (und sie tut es im Frühjahr 2019 noch…). Bei der ersten Abstimmung am 5. Juli 2018 reichte es bekanntlich nicht, erst nach einem enormen Kraftakt mit unseren Verbündeten in der Branche und darüber hinaus hat das Europäische Parla- ment am 12. September dem Berichter- statter das Mandat erteilt. Im Umfeld beider Abstimmung gab es zu- nehmend mediale und öffentliche Auf- merksamkeit, wurde von den Gegnern mit Ungenauigkeiten Panik geschürt, wurden Abgeordnete mit Massenmails und Anru- fen zugespamt undundund. Im Rückblick aber war dieser letzte Som- mer nur der Prolog für einen regelrechten Krimi im Ringen um Interpretationshoheit in den vergangenen Monaten, weiterhin gestört durch gezielte Kampagnen, teils sogar von Google mitfinanziert, die dazu geführt haben, dass der Begriff „Upload- Filter“ inzwischen dem „Chlorhühnchen“ Konkurrenz macht. Verwünschungen, Fake News, Bomben- und sogar Morddrohun- gen – wenn es um die Bekämpfung eines Urheberrechts geht, das der Kultur- und Kreativwirtschaft die Fortexistenz im di- gitalen Zeitalter ermöglichen soll, wird der Ton sehr rau.
