The Coastal Access Reports contain a full description of the access proposals, including any additional mitigation measures that have been included. These Reports can be viewed here: www.gov.uk/government/publications/coastal-access-in-cornwall-from-penzance-to-st-mawes-comment- on-proposals A HRAs are required for European sites (SPA, SAC and Ramsar sites). The HRAs are published alongside the Coastal Access Reports. This document, the Nature Conservation Assessment (NCA), covers all other aspects (including SSSIs, MCZs and undesignated but locally important sites and features) in so far as any HRA does not already address the issue for the sites and feature(s) in question. The NCA is arranged site by site. Maps 1 to 9 show designated sites along this stretch of coast. See Annex 1 for an index to designated sites and features for this stretch of coast, including features that have been considered within any HRA. Yes Marazion Marsh is also designated as a Special Protection Area, (SPA), for its overwintering Bittern, Botaurus stellaris population and Aquatic Warbler, Acrocephalus paludicola population. Although these species are not designated species of the SSSI, the reedbed and marsh features are a supporting habitat for the SPA designated species. The SPA and SSSI designations cover the same geographical area, Current situation The marsh includes the largest expanse of reedbed in Cornwall. Threats 1. Terrestrial Wetland to its condition as a SSSI habitat include hydrological changes on the Habitats site and water pollution from within the catchment. The site is an RSPB S4 Phragmites australis reserve and is currently freely open to the public, although dogs must swamp and reed-beds be on a lead. The site was last assessed in 2010 with the two units of the site 2. Breeding and Non- considered to be in favourable and unfavourable recovering condition. Terrestrial Wetland It is not possible to rule out potential damage to the above habitats if Habitats the trail was re-aligned or access patterns changed around these S4 Phragmites australis features due to the coastal access scheme proposals. However, the trail swamp and reed-beds and associated margin will remain seaward of this site and so it is not considered that our proposals will have an impact on the designated habitats.     Malvern U3A Geology Group LIZARD FIELD TRIP Led by Dr Nick Chidlaw 11th to 14th April 2013 The origin of the Lizard Complex The Lizard consists of oceanic components that have been thrust faulted (obducted) over younger rocks. The context would have been a small rift basin similar to the Red Sea or Gulf of California and was formed at the same time as the development of the SW England passive margin during the Early Devonian. This was terminated by the onset of convergence between two plates with partial ‘obduction’ achieved by the Upper Devonian. The Lizard now contains a suite of rocks from the upper surface consisting of sediments, and below them pillow lavas, sheeted dykes and gabbros merging into layered gabbro followed by ultrabasic rocks of peridotite representing the crust down to, and including, the mantle. Such sequences of rocks are known as an ophiolite complex and the Lizard is one of the best examples in Britain.     Pure Cornwall’s favourite South West Coastal walk to Porthleven MARAZION TO PORTHLEVEN Length: 11 miles (17km) Grading: Moderate to strenuous Much of this walk through an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty offers fantastic views of Mounts Bay and the magical island and castle of St Michael’s Mount. Fairly easy, level walking allows time to enjoy the views, until the Path begins to narrow and rollercoaster over the cliffs up to and beyond Praa Sands. The stretch on the approach to the pretty fishing village of Porthleven is designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Highlights along the path: The ancient market town of Marazion, with its very active community of painters and potters. There has been a settlement here since 308BC and the town claims to be the oldest in Britain, and could be the settlement known to the Romans as Ictis. Views of St Michael’s Mount. Once a Benedictine Priory, a fortress and tin mining port, it can be accessed by a causeway at low tide or a ferry. Perranuthnoe: this fairly undeveloped village, which may actually date back to Roman times, has an interesting church dedicated to St. Piran, the patron saint of Cornwall. Look out for the Norman font and Norman stone heads surrounding the doorway. After a rest on the sandy beach, you may also want to pay a visit to the Victoria Inn which is reputed to be the oldest recorded inn in Cornwall, dating back to the 12th century. Prussia Cove: the headquarters of the famous smuggler John Carter and now the base for the masterclasses of the International Musician’s Seminar.

The Neighbourhood Plan community questionnaire was distributed to all households in March 2017. All returned questionnaires were delivered to CRCC in July and input to Survey Monkey in August. The main findings from the questionnaire are identified below, followed by full survey responses, for further consideration by the group in order to progress the plan.
