This is a partner project in the Stories of the World programme; an official part of the London 2012 Festival – Brighton Museum 16 March - 18 January 2014 Chilled to the Bone: Ice Age Sussex - Explore Ice Age Sussex and discover how ice has driven our evolution, why we have survived whilst the Neanderthals perished, and what the disappearance of ice from the poles could mean for our survival – Brighton Museum 27 April – 09 June An Exhibition of Artist’ Books - Press & Release celebrates the rich and multi- faceted world of artists’ books and self-publishing, with a focus on hand-made and limited edition books, and experimental formats – Phoenix Gallery 08 April - 30 September Brighton Sand Sculpture Festival - From April 8th 2013, a new Sand Sculpture Festival will be held at Black Rock Brighton. The new works, offered through the Acceptance in Lieu scheme, include paintings and drawings by Robert Polhill Bevan, Harold Gilman and Spencer Frederick Gore – Brighton Museum Theatres and Shows 27 May – 01 June Less Than Kind - In this hilarious romantic comedy by Terence Rattigan, a steel magnate responsible for tank production in the war cabinet plans to divorce his wife and marry his true love, the widow Olivia Brown. But Olivia’s teenage son has become a socialist and is outraged at the thought of his mother marrying “the enemy”. Since Cats first opened on the West End stage in 1981, it has become one of the world’s best known and best loved musicals. Spellbinding and better than any film or TV... a beautiful piece... wonderful! “BBC Radio Nottingham, 8pm, £6/£5 – The Dukebox Theatre at The Iron Duke 22 – 29 June Harold Pinter Double Bill of ‘The Lover’ and ‘Celebration’ ‘The Lover’, directed by Kevin Moore, is a one act play that follows the surprisingly different marriage of Richard and Sarah. It is a delightfully playful show that keeps you on your toes as fantasy and reality collide, as the different desires in their marriage push up against each other until it reaches boiling point. Accompanying ‘The Lover’ is ‘Celebration’. This short piece is a comedic satire on our need to celebrate our own financial success and the craving for validation. In a fashionable restaurant, are those the diners we always seem to find ourselves near, or are they how other diners view us? For Harold Pinter fans, the evening is sure to entertain and fascinate in equal measure. For those yet to be convinced, it could be the perfect introduction to this brilliant creator of theatre.
