The European Union needs to improve job creation and growth now that the EU is gradually recovering from the economic crisis. At the same time, the EU is facing institutional changes with a new European Parliament and a new European Commission taking office in the autumn. Sweden, Germany, the UK and the Netherlands are all reform and growth-oriented countries. As far as Sweden is concerned, it will be important to emphasise structural reforms to boost EU competitiveness, strengthen the Single Market, increase trade relations and promote free movement. These issues will be at the centre of the discussions at Harpsund. Germany, the UK and the Netherlands, like Sweden, are on the World Economic Forum's list of the world's ten most competitive countries. It is natural, therefore, for these countries to come together to compare experiences and discuss EU reform. Some 450 participants from 90 countries will meet to discuss the theme 'The internet: privacy, transparency, surveillance and control'. Time and place 27-28 May Brewery Conference Centre (Münchenbryggeriet) Freedom and security on the internet is one of the major global issues of the future and one of the highest priorities of Swedish foreign policy. SIF is a unique forum for in-depth discussions on how freedom and openness on the internet promote human rights and development in the world. Bern Convention Secretariat 20 November 2012 Dear Prime Ministers Jens Stoltenberg, Fredrik Reinfeldt and Jyrki Katainen 25 environmental NGOs in Norway, Sweden and Finland on behalf of 800.000 members are calling for a more ambitious, responsible and long-term management plan for our shared large carnivore populations, to safeguard their existence in the Fennoscandian ecosystems. We encourage the governments of Norway, Sweden and Finland to establish a joint management platform for large carnivores, beginning with the wolf. The Scandinavian wolf population is suffering from isolation, reduced genetic variation and inbreeding. Sweden has approximately 300 wolves, and the wolf is classified as Endangered on the national Red List. Finland’s wolf population has now been reduced to less than 200 individuals, and is classified as Endangered in the Red List. In Norway the wolf population size is down to 25 individuals in total. Wolves in Norway are listed as Critically Endangered in the Red List. The politically defined population target allows only three annual litters, which is the main reason for the current Red List classification. Furthermore, only around one per cent of Norway’s territory is designated for occupation by wolves.

Despite intervening general elections and changes of government, the goals adopted by the Riksdag in 1994 remained in force until 2006. In 2006, the Riksdag adopted a new overarching goal for gender equality policy: Women and men are to have the same power to shape society and their own lives (Govt. Bill 2005/06:155). That goal remains to this day. Four sub goals indicate the direction of the Government’s efforts in gender equality policy: Equal distribution of power and influence; Economic gender equality; Equal distribution of unpaid care and household work; An end to men’s violence against women. In some areas, society has made significant strides forward since 1995. In others, the pace of development has been considerably slower, with major challenges still remaining. The following presents some of the major features of developments since the 1990s. Increased representation by women since the 1990s One area that has shown a distinct positive trend since the 1990s is the distribution of power and influence in elected political assemblies. The 1991 general elections saw the first decline in the proportion of women in the Riksdag since 1929 (from 38 per cent to 33 per cent).

    STOCKHOLM UNIVERSITY Department of Economic History and International Relations Master's Thesis in International Relations with specialization in Global Political Economy Spring Term 2021 Student: Waris Miratif Supervisor: Jonathan Michael Feldman A Quantitative and Qualitative Study of The Impact of Swedish Foreign Aid on the Palestinian Economy Keywords: Aid Effectiveness, Economic Growth, Two-Gap Model, Corruption, Occupation i Abstract This thesis contributes to the scholarship on aid effectiveness by evaluating the economic impact of Swedish foreign aid on the Palestinian economy (GDP) from 1999 to 2019. Econometric approaches have often been used in previous studies to assess aid effectiveness, but they are not sufficient for establishing clear conclusions, especially in a unique conflict- affected economy such as Palestine. Therefore, this study combines a mixed methods research approach involving qualitative and quantitative approaches. The primary research question is: “To what extent has Swedish foreign aid significantly contributed to the Palestinian economy during the past two decades from 1999-2019?” Two sub-questions follow the main research question: “To what extent has aid effectiveness in Palestine been affected by corruption in the Palestinian Authority and the Israeli occupation during the past two decades. The thesis uses a two-gap model of the economic growth theory by employing different techniques like inferential and descriptive statistics (quantitative research) followed by a content analysis and interviews (qualitative research) to answer the research questions. Results from the descriptive and inferential statistics and the content analysis show that Swedish aid positively affects the Palestinian economy but is limited by countervailing factors. The effectiveness of aid is constrained by the Israeli occupation and corruption in the Palestinian Authority (PA).
