The European automotive industry represents 4.1% of EU GDP and more than 12 million jobs. The current European economic situation raises many uncertainties that are impacting the automotive industry. 1. What is the macroeconomic outlook in Europe for the next one to three years? What are the possible scenarios for Europe's future? Are the fundamentals solved or are we buying time? 2. What should do to stimulate growth and send signals of trust to businesses and consumers? 3. How can nations maintain competitiveness while ensuring industrial growth? 4. How can the industry navigate through this crisis and prepare for a sustainable model?

12.00-13.45 IGWEL: Defining the Imperatives for 2013 Contributor Congress Centre Lunch discussion

The prevailing themes of 2012 were sluggish global growth, slowing economies in emerging markets, transformation and tension in the Middle East, and on-going turbulence in the Eurozone. These will continue to dominate the outlook for 2013, even as new risks emerge. The opening lunch of IGWEL will define and prioritize the imperatives in 2013 to steer global transformation towards resilient dynamism. Key questions: What are the global consequences of the US elections and China's 18th Party Congress? What are the geopolitical implications of uncertainties tied to Syria and Iran and how should they be addressed? How can the conditions for a sustained, jobs-rich growth path be created? How should the post-2015 Global Development Goals be shaped and designed?

Lördag 26 januari

08.30-10.15 IGWEL: Policy Actions for Sustainable and Inclusive Growth Contributor Congress Centre

The global economic outlook remains uncertain, despite the recent positive developments and the relative calm in the markets. Economic conditions are likely to remain weak in major advanced economies, and sluggish growth has led to increased unemployment and spillovers to other countries, with emerging economies also witnessing a slowdown. Against this background, confidence needs to be restored through prompt and resolute actions on the part of both the public and private sectors. A major challenge is to work together to formulate and implement policies that will help mitigate the immediate risks and secure a sustainable and jobs-rich recovery. Key issues/questions to be discussed: What are the key near- and medium-term actions needed to promote investment and spur sustainable and inclusive growth? What are the implications of the major shifts in the labor market for boosting job creation, including the impact of technological changes, developments in non-wage labor costs, and other labor market reforms? What specific actions can the financial sector take to support jobs and growth? What incentives are necessary to promote financial innovation with the most potential value added to society?

14.00-15.30 A new vision for emergency response 2025 Humanitarian challenges are complex and costly - virtually doubling global investment in the past decade and our methods of response increasingly outdated. Annual spending on emergency humanitarian response is over US$17 billion annually and the capacity to deliver is being stretched beyond capacity. Time and place Place: Gustav Adolfs Torg 1 Time: 19.00

Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt will speak, as will Stockholm City Commissioner for Culture and Real Estate Madeleine Sjöstedt (Liberal Party). Raoul Wallenberg's sister Nina Lagergren will also participate in the ceremony.

The sculpture was designed by artists Ulla and Gustav Kraitz, who also created the Wallenberg monument outside the UN in New York. The memorial consists of a bench made of black diabase with a briefcase of bronze placed diagonally on top. The bench has a text about Raoul Wallenberg engraved on its side.

"It is natural to have a memorial to Raoul Wallenberg just outside the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, where he was formally employed," says Olle Wästberg, the Government's coordinator for Raoul Wallenberg Year. The monument has been realised thanks to the generosity of Marcus Storch and the helpfulness of the City of Stockholm and the National Property Board. This is the 34th memorial to Raoul Wallenberg.

"It suits the site very well and enriches Gustav Adolfs Torg. It may well become one of Stockholm's much-loved sculptures," says Ms Sjöstedt.

The inauguration ceremony is a partnership between the City of Stockholm, Stockholm cultural services and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs.

Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt has chosen to focus on two important growth issues: women's entrepreneurship and leadership, and older people in the labour force.

The debt crisis has hit many countries hard. As Europe tries to solve its common problems, it is also important to look beyond and ahead. In Stockholm in February, participants will take a closer look at two growth issues that are close to Sweden's heart, namely, how to increase the number of women leaders and entrepreneurs, Related and how to enable senior citizens to stay in the labour force longer. Northern Future Forum 2012 The countries participating in the meeting have largely similar values and conditions. They are often seen as a northern growth corridor with a strong commitment to gender equality and social growth issues. Yet much remains to be done to enable everyone to reach their professional goals and increase the prospects of sustainable growth even in the longer term.

For example, only 30 per cent of all entrepreneurs in the EU are women. The Nordic and Baltic countries and the UK are all close to this figure. Moreover, while people are living longer and longer, the retirement age is virtually the same as it was several decades ago. And only 36 per cent of people aged 55-64 and 8 per cent of people aged 65-74 in the EU were active in the labour market last year.

The nine prime ministers are being urged to bring external experts in their delegations. These may be entrepreneurs, researchers or people at government agencies who have practical experience of the issues and who can give their views on the subjects on the agenda. The purpose is to bring about an open discussion and a good exchange of experience in which the countries can learn from one another, but also from the business community and the academic world.

The countries that will meet in Stockholm in February are , Estonia, Finland, Iceland, , Lithuania, , Sweden and the UK.

The Northern Future Forum will be open to the media.

Background In August 1991, Sweden recognised Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania and resumed diplomatic relations with them. Since then, Sweden has undertaken major initiatives to promote and consolidate the countries' regained independence. These initiatives are based on strong political commitment, broad popular support and an early diplomatic presence. Notable measures have included early free trade agreements, support for sovereignty and security building, advice, development assistance, education and training, etc. This has laid the foundations for good cooperation with great potential for development, even beyond 2011.

SATURDAY 29 JANUARY 08.15 - 10.00 Fredrik Reinfeldt and Carl Bildt, Seminar Informal Gathering of World Economic Leaders - Rio + 20 (Congress Centre, Parsenn) The 1992 UN Conference on Environment and Development in Rio de Janeiro galvanized environmental consciousness and cooperation on a scale never witnessed before or since. Attended by 108 heads of state or government, it resulted in landmark climate change, biodiversity, forestry management and financing accords. The Rio+20 Summit in 2012 presents a similar opportunity for progress. Should it pursue a top- down (intergovernmental) or bottom-up (national and multistakeholder) reform agenda or both? If the UN is to remain a central platform, should a World Environment Organization be created? If so, what should be its core mandate and functions? If not, in what other ways could a major upgrade in international environmental and developmental governance be achieved? How can other multilateral regimes, such as trade, advance the environment agenda? Moderated by Achim Steiner, Director, United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), Nairobi

08.00 - 10.00, Anders Borg, Informal Gathering of World Economic Leaders - Aligning Perspectives in the New Financial Landscape (Congress Centre, Pischa WorkSpace) The G-20 summit in Korea produced agreement on an important set of reforms to international financial supervision. However, deliberations on financial governance and regulatory reform are far from complete. How can business and policy leaders ensure progress on financial government and regulatory reforms in 2011? How can they seek to advance the scope of the regulatory framework and the establishment of a level playing field as a means of improving global financial governance? What are the next steps in regulating key dimensions of the financial landscape? 1. Regulating systemically important financial institutions 2. Coordinating among regulatory frameworks 3. Levelling the playing field between regulated and unregulated sectors 4. Restoring trust in the financial system 5. Developing capital markets in emerging economies

Wessberg to leave Prime Minister's Office Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt's State Secretary H. G. Wessberg is leaving his position as of Thursday 21 October. Mr Wessberg took up his present position in November 2007 after serving as State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs earlier in that electoral period. Prior to that, he was Director-General of the Swedish Companies Registration Office.

"My four years at the Government Offices have been very enjoyable, and my time at the Prime Minister's Office particularly so. Being State Secretary to Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt is the most stimulating and challenging job I have had. Being able to crown it by helping in the re- election of the Government is a fantastic feeling," says Mr Wessberg.

"It is a great privilege to come to work every day in the knowledge that you are doing something important and challenging. That's how it felt on day one, and that's what I still think today. But this is not a job you can have forever. And since I also think a position like this should preferably change hands at the start of a new electoral period, this is the right time to move on. I informed the Prime Minister of my intention a few days after the election," says Mr Wessberg.

As Mr Wessberg is leaving his position as State Secretary by his own choice, he is not eligible for a guaranteed income.
