Blabla Bio Fred Frith
BlaBla Bio Fred Frith Multi-instrumentalist, composer, and improviser Fred Frith has been making noise of one kind or ano- ther for almost 50 years, starting with the iconic rock collective Henry Cow, which he co-founded with Tim Hodgkinson in 1968. Fred is best known as a pioneering electric guitarist and improviser, song-writer, and composer for film, dance and theater. Through bands like Art Bears, Massacre, Skeleton Crew, Keep the Dog, the Fred Frith Guitar Quartet and Cosa Brava, he has stayed close to his roots in rock and folk music while branching out in many other directions. His compositions have been performed by ensembles ranging from Arditti Quartet and the Ensemble Modern to Concerto Köln and Galax Quartet, from the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra to ROVA and Arte Sax Quartets, from rock bands Sleepytime Gorilla Museum and Ground Zero to the Glasgow Improvisers’ Orchestra. Film music credits include the acclaimed documentaries Rivers and Tides, Touch the Sound and Leaning into the Wind, directed by Thomas Riedelsheimer, The Tango Lesson, Yes and The Party by Sally Potter, Werner Penzel’s Zen for Nothing, Peter Mettler’s Gods, Gambling and LSD, and the award-winning (and Oscar-nominated) Last Day of Freedom, by Nomi Talisman and Dee Hibbert- Jones. At that time, the Justice and Society Program of the Aspen Institute, with the support of the Ford Foundation, brought together a group of human rights scholars and advocates for a conference on State Crimes: Punishment or Pardon. Three background papers and the conference report were published and widely distributed the following year. At that time there appeared to be only two ways in which successor regimes might deal with human rights violators who had remained members of the community…arrest, prosecute, and punish, or amnesty and amnesia. -

Ex agente de la DINA asesinado en Buenos Aires La historia que no se cuenta de Arancibia Clavel Mónica González. Publicado por CIPER - 1 mayo del 2011 Treinta y cuatro puñaladas recibió Enrique Arancibia Clavel el 29 de abril pasado. La noticia impactó en Argentina, donde pasó 11 años en prisión por el crimen del general Prats y su esposa. En Chile, su huella en las operaciones represivas más brutales de la dictadura marcó a miles de sobrevivientes y familiares de desaparecidos. Una historia oculta por el mismo manto de impunidad que cubrió al crimen de Prats por más de 30 años y que quedó plasmada en el increíble archivo que guardó el jefe de la red DINA en Buenos Aires, descubierto en 1986. Esta es su historia. El peluquero y bailarín argentino Humberto Zambelli subió al auto Renault 12 y enfiló raudo hacia el aeropuerto de Ezeiza. Ese 4 de noviembre de 1978 iba al encuentro de su pareja, Enrique Arancibia Clavel, cuya tarjeta de visita indicaba que era agente del Banco del Estado en Buenos Aires. Una pantalla muy bien pagada para el jefe de la red clandestina de la Dirección Nacional de Inteligencia (DINA) en Argentina, quien regresaba conmocionado desde Santiago. El bailarín del ballet de Susana Jiménez no sospechaba que todos sus pasos eran observados y fotografiados. Zambelli estaba nervioso. La despedida había estado marcada por la tensión. Más tarde diría que “un complicado estado emocional” afectaba a su amigo íntimo. Razones tenía, Arancibia. Un terremoto se vivía en ese momento en los servicios secretos del régimen luego que el general Manuel Contreras fuera enviado a retiro y después detenido en el Hospital Militar al abrirse un proceso presionado por Estados Unidos por su responsabilidad en el asesinato del ex canciller Orlando Letelier, en Washington (1976). -

HISTORIA YMEMORIA / EN LA NARRATIVA DE FERNANDO ALEGRIA Lucía Guerra Cunningharn University of California, Irvine En los textos de Fernando Alegría la historia ha sido siempre trasfondo y horizonte, sitio movedizo que se reconstruye o desconstruye a través de una escritura que la suplementa, la contradice o la deslegitimiza. Concor dando con el concepto de Paul Veyne (Comment on écrit l'histoire), el autor chileno implícitamente plantea la historia como el límite de lo inasequi ble, como aquel ámbito imposible de ser abarcado por el conocimiento y la escritura. En consecuencia, toda historiografía es una narrativa parcial y fragmentada, sujeta a filtros y dispositivos que oscilan entre el énfasis y el vacío. De allí que en su calidad de relato, recuento limitado e interpretación, gire también en las esferas de la imaginación 1. El carácter inasequible de la historia posee una imagen especular en la memoria -aguas nunca detenidas que en su oleaje distorsionador borran o traen a la luz hechos y sensaciones irrecuperables en su totalidad. Estas concepciones de la historia y la memoria motivan a Fernando Alegría a escribir siempre en los bordes de las formas literarias canónicas. Novela histórica tradicional2, biografía, memoria y testimonio son, para el autor, formas que, en última instancia, clausuran un elemento vital y problematizador, tanto de la historia como de la memoria. En estas rearticulaciones y desarticulaciones que elabora Alegría en sus textos, subyace otra historia: una trama de carácter vivencial que genera estas diversas posiciones ideológicas con respecto a la historia y la memoria en el territorio específico de un contexto cultural y político.
