THE CHRISTMAS INVASION HIT! by staff writers

The Christmas Invasion special continues Doctor Who’s ratings wins. Chameleon Factor # 80 The sixty minute special premiered on BBC One on Christmas Day, 2005. Rating 9.84 million viewers, it was beaten by Eastenders, but in turn beat O ut t N No Coronation Street to be the second highest rated show of the day. ow ! Responding to widespread claims in fandom that the ABC doesn’t have the rights to the Tennant episodes, ABC’s Head of Programming Marena Manzoufas states--

The end of the classic repeats signal the end of Doctor Who broadcasts on free-to-air television for the foreseeable future. The schedule for the second series was not even written at the time of publication, and delivery of the new episodes was expected to be “a few months” away. ABC has the rights to one repeat of the 2005 episodes. They do not plan to show any more classic Who, including the skipped episodes, K-9 and Company or the 1996 telemovie with Paul McGann (known to fans as The Enemy Within).
