The box office success of the movie ‘’ released in 2005, helped to rekindle interest in Johnny Cash and June Carter and introduced them to new generations of fans. Bearing a striking resemblance to the legendary ‘Man in Black’ himself, Cashville’s frontman Paul Rye (aka Tex) not only plays rhythm guitar with the same forceful passion as Johnny Cash, but his rich, deep, powerful voice is virtually indistinguishable from the distinctive and commanding, deep bass- baritone voice Cash was renowned for. Covering the lengthy musical career of Johnny Cash, including his many duets with the love of his life June Carter-Cash, Cashville serves up convincing renditions of their combined greatest hits and track favourites to deliver an authentic Tribute Show. The formation of Cashville can largely be attributed to Paul’s teenage son who saw the Johnny Cash movie ‘Walk The Line’ by chance when he tagged along to the cinema with friends some time in 2006. Later he said, ‘You sound just like that guy when you sing Dad’ and asked Paul to learn and play ‘Folsom Prison’ for him. Familiar with the music of Johnny Cash and always up for a challenge, Paul was intrigued by his son’s remarks and enthusiasm so he headed off to see the movie for himself. Inspired by the movie and the challenge laid down by his son, Paul learnt ‘Folsom Prison’ but found he couldn’t stop - he was hooked. He started searching through Johnny Cash records looking for more great songs and discovered they were all great so he learnt a few, then a few more and before he knew it, he was being drawn further and further into the world of the Man in Black. He soon found himself playing Johnny Cash songs at parties, BBQ’s, the local pub, anywhere and any chance he got to belt out a classic Johnny Cash tune or two. He loved it - he was hooked and so were his appreciative audiences. His likeness to the Man in Black is nothing short of remarkable and his deep Johnny Cash-like voice just floods from him with effortless, natural ease. Through her portrayal of June Carter, Karen Grace delivers the gamut of facets this matriarch of was renowned for. They have been selected to perform as the opening Act for the Cooly Rocks On Festival for the past 2 years and are on an upward trajectory in the Tribute Show arena. Out of all of the Johnny Cash Tribute artists and bands currently performing in Australia, Cashville is the only one to have been invited to perform at the Annual Roadshow Revival Festival in 2015. One of the biggest tribute concerts on the west coast, this event is held in Ventura, California on Fathers Day weekend each year to pay tribute to the music of Johnny Cash. Presented by Ross Emery Entertainment in collaboration with Cindy Cash, one of Johnny’s four daughters the Roadshow Revival Festival is entering it’s 7th year.
