The Scenario of Christmas 2018 Is Distressing and Thought-Provoking
MSFS PROVINCIALATE, 23, 24 Residency Road, Sadar, Nagpur 440001 Ph: 91-712-2527805. Mobile: 09422189042 [email protected]; [email protected] [email protected]; [email protected] [email protected]; [email protected] JBM – 12 CIRCULAR TO ALL THE MEMBERS OF THE PROVINCE 24.12.2018 CHRISTMAS 2018: ‘GOD WITH US - GOD LIKE US’ The scenario of Christmas 2018 is distressing and thought-provoking. It is being celebrated amidst a precipitous collapse in people’s perspective to the ideologies of political parties, and the scenario is reduced to intense political and religious contestation and of syncretic accomplishments. The ugly colour of autocracy and its passions concoct constitutional values and sacrifice truth at the altar of selfishness. Religions are becoming weaker in guiding and dictating one’s moral norms, thus mass increase of murders, rapes and violence penetrate human lives through various means. On the one hand, the dignity of human life with all its ramifications is given less importance as suicide becomes the norm of the day. On the other hand, social institutions like marriage and family relationships are becoming less significant and lifelong commitment in marital relationship in the coming days may become a thing of the past. Both the electronic and print media have become self-styled courtrooms as they inject the venom of radical religiosity and inter-faith violence into society’s bloodstreams; fabricate economic and financial data to suit the whims of the powerful; destabilize the fabric of social life, rip families asunder, turn bosom pals into back-stabbers, sink careers and send reputation into a death spiral, as against the majestic power of the media to build and mould the future generations. -

Patle Department of Chemistry, Mahatma Gandhi College of Science, Gadchandur, Chandrapur, Maharashtra, India *Corresponding author: [email protected] ABSTRACT The present case study reports the alterations in the properties of soil affected from the cement particulates emanating by the surrounding cement factories. The chemical examination was conceded out to appraise the physico-chemical properties of the soil samples collected from the different agricultural lands surrounded by the Cement factories operated in the vicinity of the Gadchandur area of the Vidarbha region of India. The parameters such as pH, electrical conductivity, organic carbon, NPK and other parameters of the soil were evaluated in the soil testing laboratory of the college. Due to the incessant deposition of cement dust particles emerging out from the kiln through the manufacturing of the cement, the pH of the soil has slightly raised in the range of 6.79-7.90. The pH of the soil generally ranged from 5.5 to 7.5. However, the studied area has a slightly alkaline pH. The electrical conductivity of the soil sample has slightly increased and obtained in the range of 0.591-0.493 mili mhocm-1 due to unremitting exposer to cement dust. The moisture content of the soil was found to be 8.9% to 9.9 %. -

On Understanding Certain Kolam Designs
Dr.Gift Siromoney's Home Page Page 1 of 4 Home | Biodata | Biography | Photo Gallery | Publications | Tributes [Back to Kolam List] Kolam On understanding certain kolam designs Second International Conference on Advances in Pattern Recognition and Digital Technique January 6-9, 1986 at the Indian Statistical Institute, Calcutta. Gift Siromoney and R.Chandrasekaran ABSTRACT Kolam is a form of traditional Indian folk art that is widely used in Southern part of India as threshold decoration in front of dwellings. Kolam Practitioners, mostly women, memorize the complicated kolam designs using some syntactic rules. There are different types of kolam patterns in which dots or pullis and lines or curves are used. In this paper, we examine a kolam pattern called Hridaya Kamalam in which five pullis are marked on eight converging arms in radial form and they are joined by lines using certain rules. Hridaya Kamalam kolam is generalized to contain m arms and n pullis in each arm. The number of unending lines ( kambis ) needed to complete the design is also obtained. For a design with m arms and n pullis, the number of kambis required to complete the pattern is given by the HCF of (m,n). When m and n are prime to each other, the pattern contains only one unending line. A class of Hridaya Kamalam kolam is generated by choosing different values for the number of arms m and the number of pullis n. An algorithm for generating these designs is implemented on a Genie I Computer. The pullis can be joined by straight lines, circular arcs or any other form of curves. -
