What did you enjoy the most tonight? I enjoyed the gathering of renowned personalities from the Newar community and the mesmerizing music by Kutumba. Do you think the organizers have been successful in meeting their objectives? The main motive behind organizing this event was to save our mother tongue and culture. I think that message of the importance to speak Nepal Bhasa and preserve our culture was well portrayed by everyone including the hosts of the event and the various personalities that were invited. What are your general thoughts on such an event being organized? I think it is very important to organize such events because it is important to con- vince and create awareness amongst the youth about the fact that if we do not start to learn and speak our mother language, it will get extinct one day. Have you ever thought that cook- ing can be a form of meditation? In Buddha’s Kitchen by Kimberley Snow explores adventures beyond cooking. Pet Snow shares an outrageously blunt and humorous account of her esca- pade as the head cook at Dorje Ling, a Tibetan Buddhist retreat centre. When the head cook of the North American Tibetan retreat center takes a break, well-educated and profession- al chef Kimberley Snow egoistically (more than enthusiastically) volunteers to help as the head cook. Her voyage in the Culinary spiritual kitchen turns out not to be as easy but it definitely becomes a path that teaches her more about karma. Snow’s droll chronicles give a mild exposé of the ups and downs of life inside and outside kitchen. As you might expect, Snow undergoes a transformation – from the all-accomplishing, ambitious pro – to a more humble, more reflective and appreciative version of the same.

The author travels back and forth times of her life as she narrates the story. She brings in ingenious criticism through honest insights of life behind the kitchen doors at the meditation centre.
